  1. That is not what I meant. From an on-field perspective in 2010, we eventually struggled because you had young kids shouldering the load. We have added Vince and H to the fold for experience but in much the same way, we have very unexperienced players in areas that win and lose matches. I also said we have a stronger young brigade this time, but I guess you skipped over that part. In 2010 we had many young kids that showed promise, and the media was showering us with praise. It broke down. I am fearful of another breakdown, and I think we need another player of Vince's caliber into the club.
  2. It has a strong stench of 2010, doesn't it? We have a stronger young brigade imo but it's almost like we've made the same mistakes. Most of our "depth" players have less than 30 games experience, so if we get injuries suddenly we're bringing kids in with zero experience.
  3. You have to take the good and the bad with teams like this. When we are high we play like schoolboy all stars but when we struggle (and I think we only really *struggled* twice this year, against Bombers and Saints), there is a massive dropoff. You have to expect that and be prepared for more games like that. The difference between this inexperienced side and the one from 2010, 2011 is that we have a really good contingency of experience: not too much, not too little, and better "ball winners" than we did then. I think we still might struggle agains a Hawthorn, West Coast and even Freo, but it's a learning curve and part of the process.
  4. Oh wow, really. That's pretty neat.
  5. Updated North record. Updated two-in-a-row record.
  6. Jesus... I'd think we'll be wiping off one record this weekend.
  7. You're welcome.
  8. tbh I think the fair thing would be to declare it void. Have history still show that Watson won it but then had it taken off and no official winner for that year.
  9. "Although he once kept Gary Ablett Snr goalless in an outstanding individual display at the Cattery in round 16, 2006" What? Classic Burgan mistake.
  10. He was probably Essendon's best player in the second-half of 2013. Stood up at a time when many others buckled. Says a lot about his character.
  11. Ted Richards Nick Davis Rhyce Shaw To name a few. Yes, why would we want a coach to sidestep timely recruiting and scouting processes and instead attract a player they already know about. SHOCKING!
  12. In 1996, we lost to Collingwood by 94 points in Round 2, and then 8 weeks later in Round 10 we beat them by 38.
  13. I'm not counting a Round 1 win as 2 in a row. It needs to be within the same season. Let's not get selective and desperate. We all know consistent foitball over a season is key.
  14. Three records up to be toppled this weekend: Beat Fremantle - Last win: Round 13, 2011 (6-game losing streak) Beat a Ross Lyon-coached team - Last win: Never (12-game losing streak) Win in Perth - Last win: Round 1, 2004 (12-game losing streak) He has been in the league for nine seasons and has never lost a game to Melbourne. So yes. We need to beat a Ross Lyon-coached team, because, evidently, Lyon-coached teams tend to be the hardest to beat.
  15. Doubt he'll play. Don't worry some VFL [censored] will come in for him and kick 7.0.
  16. I put St Kilda instead of Brisbane
  17. Yet again we have a chance to knock off two records against the Saints this week. 2 in a row. Beat the Saints. Pity we couldn't get over the line a month ago. Must win this week.
  18. Don't think it'll happen. Seems too level-headed and too much of a professional to come to Melbourne after leaving that debacle that is the GC Suns. Probably go to the Pies, Cats or Hawks. Maybe Bulldogs.
