  1. Needs to start attacks now he is growing in his footy. We need a defence that rebounds.
  2. Let's not take our eyes off the Ball, TT. Win the ball, the rest will follow if done with care.
  3. This is from around the Time we needed to be, "Courageous and Entrepreneurial". 'Conservatism'..... the stranglehold on the Grand Old Mfc. ... get out of the 'north', the South is where it's at. Transport, to&fro the KEY.
  4. https://www.google.com.au/maps/place/1+Palmer+St,+East+Melbourne+VIC+3002/@-37.8177297,144.9788753,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x6ad642c0663ff067:0xb9a322ffdf6d0a9!8m2!3d-37.817734!4d144.981064 We're Melbourne... we should control the whole West-NorWestern half of the McG. The Melbourne End. From Nth wing, around past Ponsford to the Southern Wing. That end, should be Ours. We should own It. Let's get started !... NOW or NEVER. ... before eddies-head, swallow's the joint.
  5. Absolutely spot on HaH. And that was the time when money started spinning around the western world. And lil' ol' Mfc was being strangled, whilst other clubs were making Hay. And the Sun began to shine in winter, more and more, all the way thru to the 80's-90's. Pre Pro footy.
  6. wouldn't it.
  7. I don't think they're that bad, with talent. So on your post Re the tough draw, I wonder if in another say 6 weeks, IF they will have Regrouped? And win some of those games you mention. I hope they do.
  8. I think we win if it stays wet. The best contested ball team will win, in wet conditions. Lets hope we're 'bad'n'hungry'.
  9. Adele Crows, 'IF', put together as well as this little beaut >
  10. Hmmn, going down to the Cats in Rnd 1, might have be a Gawnus-Maxim masterstroke. must be all in that beard. weather senses, etc. No wet fingers for our Gawnus, Re which way the wind blows.
  11. and he's correct.
  12. The government must not want the AFL to sell/demolish ETIHARD. The precinct has a focal point, and this Must fit into the cities blueprint for further expansion to the docks. The AFL couldhave/shouldhave gone on to build new boutique stadiums, inner city (eastgate), and in the Sth-East, Dandenong-Sth. Eastgate better located for regional supporters than EtiHard. Dandenong-Sth better to service all of Eastern Victoria. they've dropped the ball the AFL, particularly Dandenong-Sth. A bit like they have with Tasmania. Those people are hard done buy, footy people. The people of the East are also hard done buy, for getting to games, although the government initiative of Sky-Rail will help somewhat. It is still too far all the way in to inner Melbourne for Eastern Vics, especially for VFL games, which IF they were at Dandenong-Sth, would benefit most Victorians.
  13. Clarry's more your ruck/rover of the old days, than a centerman. Centreman were always classy movers with refined skills. Part of the skilled centreline. The rucks (Ruck,R/R,Rover)were the blue collar bangers in the middle.
  14. Hogan = Beast
  15. Matthew Guy, more like Gerry Gee. Can't you see his strings?
  16. people keep saying Frost's not a forward, so let him be led to the high balls by his opponent, Or if his opponent peels off the ball to run decoy, Frost leaves opponent and gets to drop of ball. The object, IF he cannot win a mark uncontested,,, then he punches the ball clear of the pack, creating a Kaos-Ball inside our own 50mtrs. We need to select for a quick nimble forward zone, with hard contestants in there. as we should have anyway. We want to being playing our games, in our Half of the field.
  17. Yes all over the ground, its an area we put ourselves under the pump, because we do not take enough marks, particularly the midfield ball around our wings, is mostly always a live ball scenario, and so we are under pressure making decisions Re ball use, going forward. This is a big handicap on setting up our forwards. and our conversion. I think these are a related issue, under pressure midfield bomb t in forwards under pressure. It transfers down the line. So our poor transition, In many ways is around the issue of composure time and space between the arcs IMO. IF we mark the ball around the centre wings, we can play on or play tempo, or go fast slow, hold the ball, etc.
  18. NO, the Crows should be asking how good P18 will be... Because we would already have a strong idea about how our 2017 P10 recruit is looking, by now.
  19. Yes, absolutely. He takes the game on, works hard, makes some mistakes, but if our players don't make mistakes they are not trying hard enough. With practice and experience those mistakes will become less and less. We do not need to be a team that does not make mistakes, because it plays safe conservative footy. We need a side to take the game on, grab it by the scruff of the neck, and rag-doll everything out of it. The other is in our past. We know how that ends, it goes nowhere every year, until we fall back down, and an ever-shrinking club.
  20. The hawks aren't all that big a side, they are lithe nimble & run, move the ball. they have Roughy & McEvoy, and Frawley not much else. IF, Bernie plays on Mitchell, he goes into the middle lineup. so then we need an outside runner. Although there's been talk Bernie is sore. Bernie won't miss. I'm sure. Hunt won't play he's outa form. I agree Re Weideman. Fritsch, can mark overhead, they should not drop him after doing well. He doesn't need a rest yet. The team lacks marking power. and skill and class.
  21. I have the feeling stretch is in for his 1st run of 2018 literally. We need a bit more run, & some dash wouldn't go astray. I don't think there will be many changes, like many posters have said. I think if fit, Garlett & Wagner are 'certs', So I'll add in my gut feel here in Stretch, one more to come, I don't think Fritsch deserves to be dropped, so I reckon he's in the side. My Int: > Garlett, Wagner, Stretch, Fritsch.
  22. Dress them up, and auction the lot of them, Jaded ? ... oughta get a few packs of teddy bear biscuits for arvo tea then, for this lot.
  23. Yep, his judgement of the flight of the ball was far superior to others of the day. just uncanny compared to other AFL players of the time. A lot was sheer footy intelligence. Added to honed judgement built on that. He looked slow, moved out away from the square in anticipation of the footy, always defenders followed a distance behind, uncertain. ============== Actually your line about his use of the body, how he would turn his body as he took the ball to protect the ball from defenders arm, just reminded me of Lockett's ability to do just that, almost the same. Maybe Dunstall, a little as well.
  24. And they will be HUNTING our mids this week, to topple our newfound mantle on contested footy. the Hawks love a challenge, they NEED a challenge. its the fire that keeps therm alive. It's what we need to adopt, and to lose the comfy front-runner syndrome we seem to enjoy whenever we become some sort of name in town__
  25. for who? OMc, Brayshaw, could this be anything ? http://demonland.com/forums/topic/38013-angus-brayshaw-signs-contract-extension-till-2018/ maybe he has to decide what he wants. I have no inside info on this, but I wonder, also.
