  1. Don't give up,,, jshc_ We are right on the cusp of breaking through... our best chance since the 80's. We ARE on the right track... it just seems we are closer than we are. If you know what I mean. A false dawn, just ahead of the real dawn. We still have some lingering amateurish attitudes lingering within the club, from the decades & the days, before Roosy. These attitudes will leave the club,,, if we continue this struggle in the direction we are currently on. I think Goody knows these issues, I sense he does anyway. We still have some horse trading to do, and further recruiting. But we are very close. And we are very young within. We need another mini clean & freshen. The game has changed over the last 2 years, and so an adjustment is required. Stick tight buddy... I hope your dad is OK. I too went through the feelings at school your talking about, and attended games alone,,, as well as often going to Sainters games with good mates. . I loved it when Melbourne and Flower pants-ed the Sainters.
  2. We've had a fear in the club of switching thru traffic, going back into traffic to open up the angles into our forwardline. They coral us to one wing and hold us wide and then we just surrender up and bomb long under duress.
  3. If I have anything at all to do with it Hogan will be traded. Tyson as well. We need changes this year as we're running out of mature leaders to settle this team. You think today was bad and directionless. Wait till 2021, if we don't add leaders into this group. This years trade period is crucial for us.
  4. my formatting is just fine, as far as I'm concerned. My eyes may need some help, but the formatting is how i like to read it. With space around the text. So i can see it easily.
  5. I don't care how many goals you think he's kicked in relation to others stats. He hasn't been successful when the press has been applied to us in the mids,,, and forcing us wide and narrow into our F50. He has not done well when we get controlled thru the middle. He has played well, when the game is open in lesser games, and when he plays high. When we have an open forward 50, and 2 or 3 talls in there to divide the defenders, he can do Ok. We will not get that latitude in finals matches. And we did not get that today. You can speak slowly, you can speak all night to the wall for all I care, your wrong. Jesse is not suited to playing as THE Deep forward. unless they leave him one out.
  6. Never been unhappy about Oliver... nor Brayshaw for that matter, apart from a concern about his health maintenance. Brayshaw has upped his ante this backend of 2018. Viney we already know about, as a tough in-under. no problem with him apart from pretending to be the man of steel, Re his bones. Petracca is still a boy, hiding in a mans body. still too much puppy fat. And an amateur attitude to the game. I'll give Petracca another season (2019), to sort his head out. So it only leaves 2 candidates we can trade with, for anything decent at all.
  7. He is not in any way a deep forward. He is a natural high half-forward. He'll get slaughtered as deep forward, in big game pressure. We could only do that, with an open forwardline like we get in smaller games, on occasions... Or to bring it to ground, but we are in no way classy enough, Re small forwards, to capitalise on this ploy. Jesse has to play high, and roam around. He can't even kick, when close to goal. Playing high frees him up. The best thing is to trade him, and use the proceeds to acquire others. Tyson, I'll take the 2nd Rnd'r, or a trade I wonder if Weitering is approachable ? for a price ? Also Harry Mckay.
  8. He is, obviously playing sore,,, but he's moved this way for 3/4trs of the time he's been with Mfc. We are better off for tall forwards, than we are for class mids. We'll need to draft kids, both halfback and wing running types... and smalls. And we need an injection of quality mature mids... Gaff could be one for the outside, but we need a class in/outside player to add to Oli & Angus. We'll need to trade for them.
  9. yes exactly. forwards are Not our problem. midfield is and we re not as good around the middle as we think we are. We always fall for that card trick over estimating ourselves in the middle. Jesse is NOT a deep forward. Never will be. Not fast enough on the lead, and its too easy to plug the hole out in front of him. TMc is better than Jesse, as our tall forward. Weide will be a full-forward, or forward-pocket if you prefer. He will 'play tall', as a deep forward. Maxy has to learn to hold his overhead marks.
  10. They corral us, as we come out of defensive half back, out to the wings, and then force us to stay wide. Narrowing our attack angles going into F50. All to predictable.
  11. I do as well, even if we don't fire a shot,,, we have to get in there. To create hope amongst the players, and us fans.
  12. You don't listen... I'm saying we should move him on ! not saying that he's on the move. For mine he is a trade-out. sell, sell, sell. Do all we can to get in Whitfield next year. We will lose so many of of mature leaders inside the next 2 seasons.... we will be back in shyte again. We have to make big strides off the field this end of season. changes are very necessary. - - - - - - - - Tyson,,, we'll take what we can get. You've lost your mind DD, if you think we will progress much in the next 2 seasons, unless we make some big trades NOW. End of next year, Lewis Vince Jones will all be gone. By the end of the 2019 season,,, Jetta, Hibbo & Garlett will all be heading towards 30Yrs of age. Our current leaders of the team, are almost done and dusted. We are about half way thru this rebuild.... we have rebuilt the list somewhat,,,, but haven't rebuilt the clubs culture into a winning habit. Our clubs self-belief is very fragile... and will only change as we start to learn to Expect to win... week in week out. ... We are in a 'spot' looking forward, and we have to make this 2018 off-season, a huge winner. .
  13. TMc sprayed some uncharacteristically in last weeks game, as well. Made me start to think, "is he on pain killers", after last week ? Same again this week, but he did look a bit uncertain.
  14. Mine is based on the past couple of years..... up against what we need most Now... midfield class.
  15. Hogan has been running like a cowboy wearing spurs, for years now. He can't launch off the ground, never could. He won't have a long career IMO. His joints will be stuffed before he's old. He cannot, and never has been able to play "tall"... but has always been more your mobile, run-about CHF, with endurance. Playing Deep, is Not his go. TMc is a better mover, around the field. A bigger problem, is our lack of clever midfielders. But we need something to trade, to get something. We've been good enough in the midfield, to get to outside the 8... but progressing further is a much bigger ask. We lack smart quick players. Who trust in themselves. We get bottled up so easily,,,, its like putting the babies dummy back in... that stops it all.
  16. We can still make it,,, but we're not convincing at all... how we go about it, under pressure in big games. 3 out of about 8 or 9 mid rotations is not enough, good enough... We're so lucky we have Jetta with us... and Harmes is an up and comer,,, but so is 2020, up and coming. We need too bet better off half back, Re new talents. (after Hibbo & Vince, Lew, Jetta, etc). We have to draft for that future now. We ought to get after Whitfield as our end of 2019,,, main target. And i hope we've already been talking. ....... Now we have to get after trades this year. Pity we missed Sloane. He would have been one off. And we need players that have the vision to step thru traffic,,, thru the centre square, as we bring the footy upfield. We falter, transitioning the middle. good teams choke our midfield area, forcing us to play predictably.
  17. Hogan does not have any long future with us. its time. It all revolves around that. Footy changes quickly. TMc has made Jesse expendable. We need to be able to afford other player types, we're lacking in. Tyson is one who may help us get in other players. Hogan is the other. We don't have 8 yrs to wait DD... the time is now, Re Hoges and Tyson.
  18. Fritsch is tired. He butchered the ball/decisions a couple of times, late last week. Should have been rested, this week.
  19. Catch it in another jumper, so we can get more class in thru our midfield. We have to improve thru the midfield and corridor with smarter players and ball use. We lack agility with Hoges deep, doesn't aid us much defensively, and doesn't Jump well at the ball. As I said, Weide will be better for us deep, and TMC is very effective for us around half-forward. We've got to get better at using the ball offensively thru the middle. Hogan, whilst a good key-tall, is not OUR answer... But can help us acquire what we lack. - - - - - - - I have no hate for Hogan. You people using the word 'hate' are ridiculous. I like Hogan,,, as a person,,, and as a player. This is why he has value. Because he can play, makes him valuable. Garlett can play as well, but isn't what we need him to be. So we need to trade to get in the pieces of the puzzle that we require. We do't have many players which we can afford to trade out, that would be wanted by other clubs. Hoges is one, IMO.
  20. great read titan. agree with all you said. next week or bust.
  21. It's no good have 2 or 3 key forwards if we cannot get them to catch the pill. Weide will play deep, and Tmc roll around the front half. We need more class, and more agility inside Our 50. The class needs to be between the arcs and on half-forward. Hoges is next to useless when the ball is a highball. He needs to play high, and TMc's best is in this area as well.
  22. The Swans turned the corner, last week. We missed Melksham and Hibbo big time. And still not good enough, even then. We may have won this game with them, but we'd still be a way short in the finals. We are carrying a few players, who are still too amateurish.
  23. 'Good' isn't the question. 'good' isn't enough. No where near what we need. I don't know what you see when you watch him but I see a player who should be lighter fitter and harder. I seea player hwho could bbe quicker and more nimble and have more intensity. I see the potential for an elite player IF he wants to get serious,,, as Nev Jetta has done with himself. Currently I see a lazy boy,,,,, trying to play Pro-Sport.
  24. Contrarily we can be trusted, and this IS the problem. Trusted to be short of good enough. We always over value our own, and our chances. When we start to think we're good enough, we are really two good players off being that. We are passive-aggressive as a club and supporters. When confident, we over value our chances by at least 25% __
