You don't think Scully is worth first pick in this scenario?
-
If you read the sentence after the one you highlighted it would make more sense. Either Watts or Jurrah to take Bate's spot.
-
Isn't Hughes a rookie? It's another couple of weeks before he can get a go. I really want to see Jurrah get a game or two. It seems like he's settled really well in the Casey seniors now. He's playing good football consistently. Let's sit Bate out and give him a shot. While i'd love to see Watts play this round, there's no way they'll put him in without Miller there to protect him a bit. He may be a bit of a spud, but Miller is a genuine hard nut when he needs to be, and Watts on his own is asking for trouble. So, if Watts comes in, it'll be for one of the small forwards, probably Bate. Jurrah as an outsider to make the same swap. If they do one of these, the forward line won't have much else altered. If neither of the newby's get a go, Bell and Miller can take a bench and make way for Newton and Robbo.
-
I'm seeing a couple of glaring deficiencies in the proposed forward lines people are putting up. Why is it that nobody wants to see Jurrah and Hughes in the side? Jurrah is beginning to show us the brilliance we've all heard about and Hughes is putting in some pretty solid performances. I wouldn't be surprised if both of them are in the side by the end of the season.
-
Actually, a couple of them have been really talking us up. They seem quite impressed.
-
None of the one's listed above work.
-
What the hell is Watts doing in the centre? Surely they need to see him kicking goals?
-
Seems to me that this is throwing out a challenge to Watts. Tear them apart next week if you want to play on the Queens Birthday. I hope he does just that.
-
Perhaps we should be fair to the kid and say that Grimes is the next Jack Grimes.
-
Davey to pip him on the back of a few more games played ;p

Colin Sylvia- Complaints, Congratulations and Comments
RalphiusMaximus replied to Don24's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well, congratulations to Col. I normally don't have a lot of time for him, but today he showed us what he is really capable of. I really hope he backs it up with a few more games like that in the next few weeks. -
I think we have to face facts here. The guy is a great club man, tries hard, but is in reality a list clogger. He's the sort of player who is almost good enough and does enough other stuff for the club that it's hard to get rid of him, but when you get right down to it he's just not going to win us a flag. There are plenty of others in exactly the same boat on our list, and they all need to go. It may seem harsh, but it's the best way for us to rebuild and challenge for a premiership.
-
It's not a matter of him having a crap game, it's his consistent inability to kick goals that any other forward in the competition would nail in their sleep. No side can afford to carry a key forward who can't hit the side of a barn with his kicks. His job is to score goals, not to put in 110% every week, take marks on the lead, give a good effort or whatever else his fans like to say about him. If he can't do that one thing, then he has no place in a winning side.

Anyone have disposals for Sylvia?

Bailey yet to go in with an unchanged lineup
RalphiusMaximus replied to youami's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed. We have a lot of young guys who need to get some game time, and quite a few older players who need a chance to show what they can do before they are delisted/traded. -
Turned out to be a very well-informed post, didn't it? It was Garland playing on Franklin last year, and Hodge isn't playing. However, I'd still like to see Warnock take Buddy. I think he's the best match we have for him. Martin has the athleticism to run with him, but I don't think he's quite ready in the skills department.
-
It was? Ah well. I still want Warnock to slap him around for us.
-
I have to object to this line. No way in hell is Sylvia in Robbo's league. The type of forward may be a dime a dozen, but he's as good as this type get.
-
It's a funny thing. I was watching a Hawthorn game a few weeks ago and heard the comment from some idiot in the box that he'd never seen someone keep Buddy quiet so well. This while Franklin lined up for his 3rd goal. Now I could be wrong, but didn't Warnock keep him to 1 last year? So, for my vote I say let Warnock slap the little [censored] all over the park again. Roughhead goes to Martin more or less by default, although it's a very good matchup for us. I think Rioli might be too fast for Wheelan or Bennell. Not sure who we have with enough pace to go with him. Perhaps put Davey on the half back flank? Wheelan to take Williams to the cleaners. Bennell to sub with him. I'd also like to see Green playing in the forward line on Hodge. He's got the defensive skills to keep Hodge from creating, and his marking and accurate kicking mean that Hodge can't afford to leave him.
-
nobody seems to be talking about dropping Bate this week. Very strange. I think i'd do a swap, Bate for Green. Put green in the forward six to play on Hodge. Not only does he have the run and defensive skills to shut him down, but he is a legitimate scoring threat.

My 3 word player analysis V The Bullfrogs
RalphiusMaximus replied to joeboy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Sounds like he got the attacking half back part right but forgot about defending. -
Holy Crap! 9 players with 25 or more disposals. 2 with 37! That's a huge effort from our midfield. Can Morton still win the rising star?
-
4 to Bate?
-
Ok, going through the list now and will list them as I see them. Bartram - Will probably get at least another year but I don't see a place for him in the side when our younger, faster and more skillful players move in. Bate - Unless he shows us something amazing for the rest of the year, I don't think we can afford to keep him. Bell - Gives 110% every game. Unfortunately, his 110% is worth around 70% from most other guys on the ground. Dunn - While I like his size and versatility, he's another one who just doesn't fit into the side when the young players come in. Mc Donald - Will retire. Miller - Trade Bait. Newton - As with Bate, has to show us something remarkable. Sylvia - AKA Richard Tambling the second. His best is pretty damn good, but sadly what he usually shows us isn't. Probably be better off being traded. It might be the shock he needs to pull his finger out and play the game properly. Wheatley - Can't see a place in the side for him. Plus he's getting on in years. Might be tradeable, but more likely to be delisted Whelan - Grimes, Bennell and Cheney all coming through to fill his role. Could be time to retire. I didn't list the rucks because obviously we can't ditch them all . That being said at least one of them has to go.
