  1. My In: for the weekend's match would be Coach Bailey's charisma. Is this guy serious with his dead pan comments in post match media interviews. It started when he was first appointed. No wonder other clubs and supporters look at us like we are amatuers. Bailey not only has a responsibility to coach the club, but also to present a message and image which is a greater reflection of the footy club. The MFC Media Man needs to get on this. People rave about Bailey being a smart man....to me he is the luckiest person in AFL system. And my Out: for the weekend would be the word.....COMPETITIVE!!! - clearly the word is another passenger within our football club.
  2. Every line of this team has a weak-link...comments below: Warnock: over-rated and being developed because coaches need to hang their hat on something. Martin: a slow burning experiment that will amount to nothing. Elite football requires some footballing IQ and skill set. if you can;t kick in the modern game you are a liability especially with the occurence of zones etc. Moloney: Old fashion footballer who would not have made it at Geelong thus the eventual trade. 1 dimensional and limited capabilities. Needs to kick more goals. Green: Wasn't a dominant player when we were competing in finals and only gets his kicks playing behind the ball in the back half. Doesn't work hard enough without the footy in pushing forward and creating consistent opportunities.

Mediocrity a common commodity in these parts? Daniher for years pushed his development tag-line...it ended up in what I termed "Development Myopia". My question was...we develop blokes to then unload them at ripe old age of 27 for more blokes who we will develop then unload no doubt when they hit their prime at...what for it...27....how about letting them play great footy in their prime - and backing them. MFC has a habit of burning club champions... Mr Woewodin is a pretty good example. Word is one senior ex-player took particular umbrage at TJ being traded. But that is another post.

Clearly I am not in the minority....respect to all those feeling a similar pain and restless nights...if only the red and blue weren't in one's dna..... Positive though is that I heard CEO - Mr Schwab on SEN and he sounds like a grand brand ambassador....

Travis is just another by-product of what has been eating this football club for the last 40 years...Leadership. Travis is a thoroughbred trained and mentored by amatuers (while at the MFC)...I'd hate to be in the same position as this bloke. No.1 draft pick thrust under the wings of so-called leaders...on and off the field - during his early years at the club. The right leadership, support and development strategy would of enhanced his performance, not hindered. The lack of supporting cast (quality team-mates) appear to also influecne the poor perception out there on this bloke. I laugh when I hear or read comments re: TJ's abilities. What TJ did every week, week in - week out, was take the likes of Brady Rawlings, Brad Sewell & Ling from the likes of Bruce, Green, McLean etc. Where are those blokes now...shame they didn't think about the bigger picture before they decided the footy club was better without the freak wearing no. 16. Green would of been B&F last year and got his $400k plus contract I don't watch Melbourne knowing he plays elsewhere and we gave him up. Why should I...I was once had poetry on-field....now I have porridge. You do the math. Last night only reaffirmed my opinion...the kids a natural. Kinda of happy though that he finishes his career playing under a genius. D
  6. Internet activity based on what source? I'm not sure you follow my logic. Why waste marketing $ on trying to increase membership base on so called supporters (who identify themselves via a survey) when we can actively engage current members and utilise their skill set to produce positive outcomes for football club. The days of relying on membership $ has past AFL football. The better clubs are find innovative ways to maximise alternate revenue streams.
  7. Thanks for keeping this thread alive. I also remember receiving a survey late last year which had all up 69 questions on it (both quant and qual responses). This to me is madness, but that is for another thread. The question is what iniatives or strategies have been built ffrom this capture of member data. To me it appears nothing. I agree with Hangon007...the future of this football club lies with its ability to engage it member base on a wave of momentum. This is usually done via on-field success, but for a football club that has a long decade ahead this type of assumption needs to be scratched. So that is the challenge for the MFC. Second question...you think anyone from the MFC reads or monitors sites like this and Demonology? D
  8. I like the prmise of this thread and seems a good fit to what will be the theme of my first post on Demonland. The consensus from what I am reading talks to why the MFC is yet to sign a major corporate partner...and that is simply what is the MFC's Value Proposition to a potential sponsor? What return on investment can the MFC deliver to a sponsor's investment? If you focus the solution to these questions to on-field outcomes then the MFC is clearly behind the league benchmark teams and what they can offer in the form of on-field results and media exposure. This gets to the reason on why I decided to join Demonland and begin posting. The Melbourne Football Club needs to establish a value-proposition that is not reliant and centred to on-field performance. That is the critical element to our football clubs sustainable sucess...how do we do this you ask? Over the next few weeks I am going to be posting a number of questions to the MFC's on-line community which will begin to paint a picture on how the MFC can secure their long term viablility through engaging directly with it's supporter base. So, the first question is...as a MFC Member or supporter, has the MFC ever approached you in an official capacity to understand your demographic position including your background, employment & associated statistics, lifestyle activities, history with following MFC etc. In short, do you think the MFC has a clear picture of what it's supporter base looks like and what motivates them?? D
