  1. Sandy reserves hung on to win fairly comfortably by 21 pts final scores Sandringham 14.20.104 Box Hill Hawks 12.11.83. Weetra, Hayes and Neville all played.
  2. The instant need to grade drafts is one of my pet peeves, we are 11 rounds into the season and I don't know why we are ranking them. Maybe they should have done an article about some of the surprise packets like Nathan Krakour instead.
  3. First point is, get over it. We beat Collingwood, try to be happy. Second, It is the TV commentators job to barrack for the side that is trailing. It wouldn't be good if the commentators were saying "Collingwood will never come back from this and the game's over" somewhere during the third Qtr, they want to keep suspense and keep everyone watching.
  4. 7 Games for Essendon. Jason Cloke has average disposal, slow and undersized for true KPP. Nothing desirable in a modern defender. Jason Cloke might still be on Collingwood's list and flourishing in the AFL if he came through the system in the mid 90's instead of the early 00's, it's just a reality of modern footy.
  5. Because the Melbourne Match Committee think they aren't ready to play AFL and they know these players, where as we are looking and guessing. Danhier is ready to play the kids if he thinks they are capable. Here is something for you to think about, out of the 12 players drafted into the senior list in the last 3 years, 8 have made their debuts(Bate, Dunn, Warnock, Jones, Bartram, Frawley, Garland and Petterd), 4 are in the best 22(Bate, Dunn, Jones and Bartram) with another 2 by the end of the season could be as well(Frawley and Petterd). Should we play Newton, Neville and Buckley for the sake of saying 'were playing the kids' so Neale and the MFC have a ready made excuse every time we lose. For me I want us see us win every single week, I want Neale to pick the best side available every single week. We have a great track record over the last few years of first game players having a real impact on the games, I trust the match committee picking when the Players are ready to debut.
  6. All this talk about Newton not getting picked is becoming a bit boring, I have no issue with Newton not getting picked this week or the past few weeks. It was the game against Sydney that I think he should have been picked, I thought he could of helped the team a little bit more than Garland did but it probably didn't lose us the game anyway. The fact is he didn't get picked and now that Robbo and Neita are back, I don't think he should be picked. This is Newtons first season of regular game time in the VFL Seniors, I don't think it's harming him playing full games every week and being part of a winning culture down at Sandringham. It's better than him losing his confidence getting starved of the ball down in the forward line a Melbourne team that is losing every week. And why even bother comparing Riewoldt and Newton? two totally different players with two completely different development paths to the AFL.
  7. His time to get selected was against Sydney, with Neitz and Dunn back from injury he is much further away from being selected.
  8. half time sandy 8.10.58 casey 6.3.40 newton 3 goals.
  9. I don't want to burst anyone's bubble about big unit Paul, but to say he could hold down CHF at AFL level is a bit of a stretch. He hasn't shown much at Sandy in the forward line yet, I would take a bad Miller over PJ any day of the week at the moment. Paul's best position is still Ruck and I doubt he has played anytime in defense for a very long time, we can't expect anything more of him at the moment than being our buckup Ruckman. The only unforced change I would like to see is Bizz in for Yze, Bizz has shown good form in the preseason and is very handy forward and back. I don't think it's time for any radical changes just yet.
  10. Add first, second, third round picks I think the eagles will be willing to talk.
  11. I have to admit some bias to the Eastern Ranges lads, I see them the most so I put him at 34 even though I knew he probably wasn't going to get picked up in the main draft. Mojo31's profile was written before the season started and most people had him in the top 25 preseason, he had a very disappointing season in which he missed a lot of footy in the middle of the year and missed out at the U/18 Champs. I have never doubted that Daniel has the talent required to step up to the next level.
  12. I would consider him more of an forward pocket than a midfielder, plays a lot like Aaron Davey. Left footed player that has a great leap and came second or third in the agility test at Draft Camp. I am a little bit surprised that we picked him up but I am very happy we did, I thought we needed another forward pocket. Played with 36 for Eastern Ranges and had a Davey style haircut in last year's TAC Cup.
  13. I actually think picking Newton wouldn't be bad idea, he has some sensational form. I don't think it will happen but I would like it to show him some reward for playing so well in the reserves, it would be pretty disappointing and frustrating for him to play every week in a competition below your level. Half a game at AFL level would be just sending him a message on the how we think he is performing this year.
  14. He would have been playing VFL seniors for the last two years if Sautner wasn't at Sandy. We would be crazy to let him go now.
