  1. Liam's doing well. Probably had half a dozen touches in the first quarter. Cats start the second quarter well with a couple of goals but Casey still leads by 9 points.
  2. At quarter time: Casey Scorpions 5.2.32 lead Geelong Cats 1.5.11. Jurrah and Watts both doing well with the latter scoring a goal on the siren.

  4. Like last year, the Casey Scorpions will take on Geelong VFL at Simonds Stadium on Saturday in the curtain raiser to the Geelong v Melbourne game. Unlike last year, when the VFL Cats were the underdogs and won by 128 points in an ominous preview of the later game, this year they will start as favourites. And seating will be hard to get for the Casey folk according to the VFL website. Due to the redevelopment of Simonds Stadium (involving the Doug Wade Stand and the Southern Terrace), a large number of reserved seats at the Stadium have been lost. As a result, this has had an impact on the entry details for VFL curtain raiser matches. VFL Club supporters and general public will be required to pre-book general admission standing room entry or a daily reserved seat prior to the match to guarantee their entry on match-day. Please see the information below about Peter Jackson VFL games that will be influenced. Please note: VFL Passes and Club Memberships WILL NOT give you access to Simonds Stadium for these games. All supporters must book a ticket through Ticketmaster. I'll be back tomorrow night with the VFL teams. The Development League team has its second bye of the season this weekend (the first was just three weeks ago).
  5. In answer to some of the queries above, Bennell went really well when down back. He also drifted forward for a valuable goal in the last quarter. I think he might finally be getting the idea and I hope he's fit to vie for selection next week. Melbourne needs an injection of pace against the Cats and given that Geelong played interstate and on a heavy track it's worth considering. Sam Blease would have gotten some confidence back today as well. Rory Taggert did a few nice things but had no real impact which is to be expected in his first game. Jai Sheehan is going to be very good. Give him a season to develop at this level and he will be a bit of a revelation next year. Ricky Petterd - only one goal and not as good as his game a fortnight ago. Probably suffered as a result of last week's bye and I would have gone with him ahead of Sylvia v the Saints - it would have given Colin more of an opportunity to gain some valuable match fitness. I agree with the Master about Panozza and Lees but I think the so-called "drug" issue is not a major one. As I understand it, he took some supplements and wasn't aware of their precise content. Doesn't sound like a major case to me.

  7. Casey free and shot for goal coming up. Yes! It's Sam Blease who plays on and kicks an amazing snap goal from the boundary at the 36 minute mark. His third goal puts the Scorps up by a point. Ring the bell for god's sake!
  8. North Ballarat mark 35 metres out and Goldstein marks in the goalsquare.
  9. Goal to Casey 32 minutes in the final quarter from that man Couch!
  10. Goal to Casey's Rian McGough in the dying moments of the game. They need another!
  11. Another one to the Roosters. They look winners now.
  12. North Ballarat lead by a goal. The wind has not helped the Scorps so far this quarter. Also is there any danger that the Casey Council could fix the scoreboard at the grandstand end? I hasn't been working since early last season. Surely they could get a grant from the PM now that her main interest is in promoting football matches!
  13. It's still goal for goal with Todd Goldstein getting on top and North Ballarat scoring to take a 1 point lead.
  14. Bennell and Blease combine for great rebound goal. Kelvin Lawrence is another doing well.
  15. Goal to Jack Fitzpatrick - Casey now by 5 points.
  16. Jamie Bennell gets a ripper of a goal to start the final quarter! Will we have another cliffhanger or can Casey take advantage of the wind and get away from the Roosters?
  17. Three Quarter Time: Casey Scorpions 9.8.62 North Ballarat 9.14.68 Casey coming home with the wind the last quarter. Some very good things from rookie Jai Sheahan and Jake Fitzpatrick is playing well. Jamie Bennell was a bit quieter while Couch is Couch. Dan Nicholson's new knickname "the butcher".
  18. Unbelievable! Goal for goal as the Roosters lead by a point halfway through the term. Umpires have been friendly to the Scorps this quarter with a couple of frees to Riseley and Lees resulting in handy goals.
  19. Correct - also in the best players. In the main game North Ballarat dominates early with the aid of the breeze and hold a four goal lead at quarter time - 5.8.38 to 2.2.14.
  20. I'm in the country today (other side of town) and, at best will get there late (if at all). I hope some of my contacts will be in touch with scores and details. I do know that the development team (aka ressies) won comfortably. Lucas Cook, on comeback from injury, booted five goals.
