Don't know anything about it but when I checked the Tribunal results on the VFL site I noticed it hasn't been updated since round 15. Either they don't report people in the VFL any more or someone involved with the site is a bit slack.

This week's main game at Casey Fields is between rivals Casey Scorpions and Sandringham with the ga,e starting at 1.00pm. It's definitely the ABC telecast match of the round (apologies to anyone who might have been misled last week) but with the Dees not playing till Sunday, let's hope we can get a good crowd to the game to support the dwindling band of Demon players turning out for the Scorpions. A little bit of early news on players gleaned from various Demonlanders who attended the Foundation Heroes function the other night:- ■ Mark Jamar should come through his fitness test and could be a chance to line up with Casey this week; ■ Leigh Williams suffered an ankle injury against Geelong and is on the way to recovery but probably won't be available until the second week of the finals; and ■ Michael Evans has had a bit of back strain so it's mothballs for him until the pre season starts. Purely precautionary. I'll be back with the teams for Saturday's games.

Casey Scorpions - finals team
KC from Casey replied to Longsufferingnomore's topic in Melbourne Demons
I checked my records and I think Tall Defence has it right. On the criteria set down by the VFL for eligibility, this is what would happen:- • Week 1 No limitations as the round co-incides with Round 23. Therefore any player not playing for Melbourne that weekend can play with the Scorpions. • Weeks 2 - 4 Eligible players are Lucas Cook, Tom Couch, Troy Davis, Michael Evans, Jack Fitzpatrick, Jordan Gysberts, Jai Sheahan, Jake Spencer, Josh Tynan and Leigh Williams. James Strauss has played 4 games for Casey seniors and 2 with the Casey Development League side making a total of 6 games so he would have to play with Casey this weekend (unlikely). Casey has applied for permission to enable Jack Viney to play (more likely). -
Casey Scorpions - finals team
KC from Casey replied to Longsufferingnomore's topic in Melbourne Demons
A couple of weeks ago I heard Brett Lovett Say there were 17 MFC players eligible to play in the finals. Since then I believe the number has dropped to 13 with Cale Morton (?) and Ricky Petterd (both injured) and Liam Jurrah (interstate) and Kelvin Lawrence (left the club) off the list. I will see if I can either get a list of the players available or work it out and post it in the next few days. -
Firstly and no disrespect to the players named in the bests, it was a very even team performance and I wouldn't necessarily agree with a couple of the players included. IMO Moloney was good enough to get in the best six (as was Viney). Fitzpatrick had a bad day with his kicking for goal and missed quite a few shots in the blustery conditions. I'm a believer in coaches doing more than just getting teams fit and developing tactics and strategies. There's too much talk around of players being dumped because their not fit enough, fast enough or strong enough but I'd like to see our football department work on developing player skills in the off season. If we can get Fitzpatrick's kicking for goal right as well as work on his weight and strength we might have a player.

The Casey Scorpions' stats from today's game against Possessions Dave Collins 28, Jack Viney 24, Matthew Bate, Brent Moloney and Mitch Gent 23. Hardball gets Jack Viney 11, Dave Collins 8 and Matthew Bate 6. Tackles Chris Clay 6, Jordan Gysberts and Matthew Bate 5. Inside 50's Tom Corry 7 (on debut) and Dannyw Nicholls 6. Hitouts Luke Hill 32. Co-captain Kyle Matthews in his comeback game had 18 touches, 5 hardball gets & applied plenty of forward pressure!

To answer the main question which seems to be about Jack Viney, he is going to be a quality AFL footballer. He got plenty of the football in a winning midfield dominated by Beamer, Dave Collins, Gysberts and Bate when he went in there. And young Jack was not overshadowed at the coal face by any of these players including some of the seasoned Collingwood midfielders.
