  1. I think you'll find that Bate is the main emergency which raises the question why Magner should miss out if he isn't injured.

  3. Wrong. Casey's playing at Frankston on Saturday.
  4. As you know, Casey is having one of it's now regular byes this week but the club features prominently in this week's Inside Football VFL section with a Phil Cleary story on coach Brett Lovett, a lengthy write up on promising first year player Tim Smith by Paul Amy and another piece on the club getting up in tight finishes. Also in the news:- • Casey Fields will host the VFL Semi Finals (Week 2 of the finals series; • two of Casey's five remaining games will be televised live; and • two of the six AFL listed players who represented Northern Blues reserves winning team (by 2 points) against Casey Scorpions last week at Preston, Tom Bell and Levi Casboult, have been selected to make their debuts tonight with Carlton while the other four have been promoted to the Northern Blues senior team.
  5. JJC - never met Mitch personally. His history is that he played TAC Cup Under 18s in 2010 for the Dandenong Stingrays and would be about 20 years of age. He's182cm and 75kg, had a few games in the Casey Seniors and could develop into a midfielder.
  6. The player formerly known as Brayden Salton is now Brayden Fowler. There club is seeking to change the name on the VFL website but it seems to be a good move as the long kicking Salton er, Fowler played the best game of his short career against Bendigo!
  7. Flower Power. I just added the goal kickers and best players to the post above from the end of the game. Gysberts was probably in Casey's best to half time but was quiet in the third quartermand did a couple of good things in the last. Same goes for Morton although he was the better of the two. Spencer played a great game in the ruck and given the Russian's injury today, he should be back at Melbourne next week. Jack Fitzpatrick played well in patches - he could have kicked four today. One of his misses was a brain fade when he marked 15 metres out, tried to play on and messed upmhis shot for goal. Jake Spencer had 45 hit outs and kicked the winning goal. Brent Moloney had 20 touches, 12 clearances and four tackles. Other stats: Morton 27, Panozza & Gysberts 26. Michael Evans had 19 disposals and two goals in limited game time in his first outing for the year after a back injury. Mitch Gent played the first half in the development league game and was called up late to play in the seniors at Windy Hill. He finished the game with 19 disposals and kicked two vital goals in the final quarter. The Scorpions defence was strong all day. Troy Davis worked hard down back and took some telling marks, Nev Jetta had 19 disposals, Brayden Salton had 24 touches and Michael Riseley did an important job on a tough opponent. With the injury situation at Melbourne it's amazing that the Scorpions keep coming up every week. On top of that they have three of their own best players out with injury - Matthews, Lees and Nicholls - and yet they keep coming up every week with new players who adapt well to the game at this level. Fortunately, they have a bye next week to charge the batteries and regenerate.
  8. Certainly was GTG and it came from absolutely nowhere because Bendigo was in control until halfway through the final quarter. That makes seven wins by 10 points or less for Casey and six by a goal or less. Not good for the old ticker!!!
  9. A famous victory for Casey who go to top of the ladder. Casey Scorpions 2.2.14 5.5.35 6.8.44 11.11.77 Bendigo Gold 3.2.20 6.5.41 11.7.73 11.8.74 Goals Casey Scorpions Evans Fitzpatrick Gent Williams 2 Morton Page Spencer Bendigo Gold Little 3 Hunter 2 Dalgleish Lee Merrett Thompson Slattery Winderlich Best Casey Scorpions Spencer Salton Riseley Davis Jetta Moloney Bendigo Gold Slattery Lee Little Williams Hunter Winderlich
  10. Lucas Cook marks but misses to the left. Point.
  11. Jake Spencer roves a pack and goals on the run ... yes on the run ... to put Casey in front!!!
  12. Tim Smith lines up for goal and it's a point.
  13. Gent kicks a beauty from the boundary and there's only 5 points in it.
  14. Williams goals after a good passage of play and it's now 11 points. Casey now has a sniff as Bendigo appears to be tiring. They're not running anywhere near as hard as in the first three quarters.
  15. Mitch Gent goals and the game is still alive. Bendigo by 17 points at 17 minutes.
  16. Now the umpire pays a mark to Bendigo that was touched but they fail to score. Bendigo dominating possession but Casey's defence is holding.
  17. Evans gets his second but it's tough going. Scorps trail by 22 points.
  18. Three Quarter Time: Bendigo Gold 11.7.79 to Casey Scorpions 6.8.44. It's a tough ask for the Scorpions but the wind has picked up so they have the advantage in the final term.
  19. A Bendigo push in the back goes unnoticed and the mark is paid. Goal and it's 28 points the difference with Bendigo dominating late in the term.
  20. Casey butchering the football and making it easier for Bendigo to clear.
  21. Fitzpatrick marks, plays on and it's a point. Bendigo goes coast to coast and goals. Possibly a defining point in the game as its Bendigo by 22.
  22. Second goal to Jack Fitzpatrick. Casey down by 2 goals.
  23. Bendigo back on top with the first two goals of the second half.
  24. Lucas Cook marks just on the siren and doesn't even score. Casey trail 5.5.35 to 6.5.41 at the main break.
