If you're wondering what's happened to Ben Kearns (Casey's 23rd player from last weeks) he's starring for the Gippsland Power today against the Bendigo Pioneers.
-
I will do my best to keep people posted via friends at the game and the social media. Appreciate it if anyone up there could help out as well.
-
Neither have Spencer or Rodan. Could be a few blokes need to pass fitness tests or are ready to join Gillies as mystery injury of the week.

Will have the side soon but a little birdie tells me no J Watts.

It's the pressure that's different, both internally and externally. The opposition doesn't exert anywhere near the pressure of the AFL in the VFL. The pressure on the individual to perform is not as great either. The players aren't under the microscope anywhere near as much as they are on the big stage. Look at how Luke Tapscott played this week compared to last.
-
Melbourne is playing in a much higher standard competition and is doing so with no confidence at the moment. The Casey team played a stand alone team which has struggled near the bottom of the VFL ladder in recent years. The difference in pressure is enormous. From Melbourne's point of view, it was an opportunity for some of its players to gain/regain confidence and a few of them did that. I think a few could take that into the Melbourne game next week and you never know. A bit of that might be infectious and rub off on some of the regulars. The good thing is that there were a few in the midfield who performed plus Tappy and Max and they're all the type who we need in the Melbourne team if its going to regain composure and credibility.

Very good in patches. Runs hard, kicks long and has a bit of a mean streak. The question is whether he's ready.
-
Casey coasting now - 21.10.136 to 11.9.75
-
Scorps lead by 11 and the weather's fine here at Casey Fields. No talk whatsoever of closing the roof!

Three quarter time: Casey Scorpions 19.8.122 to Frankston 10.8.68 Stats Magner 24 Couch Clisby 21 Goals Tapscott 6 Kearns 3 Gawn Hogan 2 Best Evans Jetta Kent Magner

I think he's always been groomed for that sort of role. It looks as if he's been given plenty of licence today because he's been getting kicks in midfield and up forward.
-
Casey now lead by 8 goals and look fitter and faster. Jesse Hogan has two.
-
Six to Tappy as the lead goes out to 40 points!
-
No offence taken. It looks like good news today and if they go on to win this one then perhaps we'll see a turn around in Melbourne's fortunes.
-
Appreciate that Forest Demon. Two reasons for my limited posting:- 1. Down to 39% on the iPhone and 2. The canteen. Cheers & back soon!

Frankston are a much improved side this year and unlike Melbourne they're not giving up. They just keep coming back and it's 11.3.69 to 8.5.53 but Dean Kent has just kicked a ripper - three bounces and a kick from outside 50 makes it 22 points the difference. Tappy is playing like a man inspired - he's everywhere and seems to have lifted enormously in pace, endeavour and confidence.
-
Tapscott now has four goals and Casey lead by 29 points. Amazing what a bit of confidence can do to a player.
-
Ben Kearns who is fresh out of Gippsland Under 18's now has kicked a couple. First two goals of the term by the Scorps pushes the lead out to 23 points.
-
Quarter Time: Casey Scorpions 8.2.50 lead Frankston 6.3.39 Beat Melbourne's score from last night already but the bad news from next week's perspective is that the best players are all rookie listed or named Hogan. Stats: Clisby 11 Magner 9 Couch 8 Goals: Tapscott 3 Kearns 2 Evans, Gawn Hogan
-
Right now Strauss is getting a bit of towelling. His opponent who I've never heard of has just kicked his second.
-
Tapscott & Evans goal. Scores 2.1.13 to 2.1.13
-
Down by a goal in the early stages.
