  4. Casey Scorpions beat fourth placed Werribee by 2 goals but It's a significant victory because it enables the Scorps (7th) to stay in the finals race. 5. The development league is a good name for what used to be the VFL reserves and both players need time to develop. Westrupp has only played three games to date and will probably remain at this level for the remainder of the season while Barry will be up and down between the seniors and the DL. This is because ATM there is competition for positions and game time at senior level while at DL level he can be used for longer as a wingman and other roles. In other words, he's not quite up to regular VFL level ATM but he's not going backwards either.

  7. I've been a fan of his for a while and he's been on the fringe of selection on a few occasions both this year and last. He is always a steady contributor in the backline and is improving his disposal. I think he should get a run in the second half of the season. He had 26 possessions today and controlled the defence.
  8. I'm told the function was a success and Hoggie was very popular but I don't have any numbers.
  9. Thanks for keeping the lid on Hogan mjt. FWIW, I think he's not a bad kick at all and is certainly better than Buddy in terms of accuracy but not distance (yet). Updated in my final score post above.
  10. After the bye it's open to clubs to elevate another rookie. If we do that, then we might give Couch a go - he's been playing well. However, it should be noted that Jimmy Toumpas was taken out of the original named Casey squad and is in the starting 22 for Monday at the G. Hopefully, Jack Viney will return soon after the bye and it won't be necessary to upgrade any more rookies at that stage.Magner and Couch had plenty of the ball today with the former getting 40 touches according to one of the blokes around here. The latter's been named best for Casey today.
  11. Youngster Jarryd Drew, the 23rd player, kicks truly with a free after the siren and the Magpies are beaten by 15 goals! Casey Scorpions 5.3.33 9.7.61 14.11.95 21.15.141 Collingwood 2.1.13 3.3.21 5.6.36 7.9.51 Goals Casey Scorpions Goals Hughes Spencer 3 Best Byrnes Couch Hogan Jetta 2 Drew Gawn Gent Petropoulos Magner Collingwood Broomhead 2 Clarke Hudson Mooney Paine Best Casey Scorpions Couch Magner L Tynan Hogan Davis Spencer Collingwood Mooney Allan Yagmoor Broomhead Riddle Hellier
  12. Best goals and now it's 83 points. This is much better.
  13. Scorpions lead by 12 goals as the game moves into time on I the last.
  14. Jetta to Best who runs around his opponent. Goal, lead out to 71 points.
  15. Scorps have definitely taken the foot off the accelerator as the Pies have kicked the last two goals. Rohan Welsh will not be happy.
  16. Collingwood goal but it's now 65 points halfway through the last quarter.
  17. Terrific pressure and tackling from the Scorpions who manage the ball forward for Hughes' third goal. It's a cakewalk!!!
  18. Lacklustre start to the final term but Mitch Gent breaks through for a goal. Hope the Pies are this timid on Monday.
  19. Three quarter time: Casey Scorpions 14.11.95 to Collingwood 5.6.36. Goals Byrnes Couch Hogan Hughes Spencer 2 Gawn Jetta Magner
  20. Goal to Spencer but the sting's gone out of this. Couch gets another on the run and the Scorps lead by 59 points.
  21. Minor resurgence from Collingwood as the Scorps release the pressure a little - still 47 points in front.
  22. Hogan is killing it with his dominance in the air. Jetta marks and goals and it's a 54 point margin.
  23. Lead is now 8 goals but would be more of they could kick straight.
