Everything posted by KC from Casey

  1. Rain started falling at the start of the second half and is coming down persistently. Shannon Byrnes kicks Casey's 9th - all individual goal kickers as the lead goes out to 28 points. Bartel looks to be playing spare man in defence against the breeze.
  2. Goal to Hunt on the siren. Casey Scorpions 8.3.51 to 4.6.30 Eight different goal kickers to half time - Hunt Jamar McKenzie Moncrieff Morris Newton Papley Paredes Disposals Harmes 17 Terlich 12 Michie 11 McKenzie 10 The Scorpions have combined well and their running has been excellent. The Cats have put on a fairly lacklustre performance and are lucky they have Bartel who is relishing the conditions. For the Scorps it's a fairly even performance in blustery conditions. Harmes is having a huge game. The next quarter is crucial.
  3. Cats coming back late in the term with a goal to Kolodjashnij. Lead is down to 16 points.
  4. Long goal to the Cats after a free kick. Difference is 21 points with almost 25 minutes gone in the second quarter.
  5. Close but ... nowhere near close enough to the goals (in fact closer to the South Gippy Highway) ... so no ceegar
  6. Scorps coming strongly after a couple of costly defensive errors. That was some nice crumbling work from Newton.
  7. Cats reply for their first and another - Scorps lead by 24 points.
  8. Jordie McKenzie! Gets it on the end of a string of hand passes, soccers it off the ground and scores Casey's 6th - first at that end.
  9. Ed Morris goals and Casey's lead at quarter time is 31 points - 5.3.33 to 0.2.2. Goals Jamar Moncrieff Morris Papley Paredes The Scorpions had the wind advantage so the next quarter will be telling.
  10. That last goal was kicked by Jordan Moncreiff son of Hawthorn champion full forward Mike Moncrieff. Twenty minutes gone.
  11. Scorps looking sharp early and hold a 20 point lead after Gippsland Power youngster Tom Papley kicks a goal for the Scorpions. Papley is the 23rd man and hails from Bunyip.
  12. The Russian marks and scores Casey's first goal, quickly followed by one to Nathan Paredes. Casey 2.2.14 to Geelong 0.0.0.
  13. We do have a J. McDonald and he's been playing in the development league team. Jackson McDonald.
  14. It will be interesting to see the final line ups for today's main game at Casey Fields. The Geelong interchange bench for the Adelaide game was Bartel, Bews, Jansen, Kolodjashnij, Luxford and Walker. The Cats most likely would have taken an extra player to Adelaide if not two as Melbourne has done with the Darwin game. If all seven interchange players take part it would be a massive advantage to the Cats but in the circumstances, one can hardly complain. Geelong's gesture is both humane and sporting and with no play last week due to the bye, they are at least entitled to get some game time into the players in contention for a spot in their AFL team. The injuries at Melbourne and to a lesser extent at Casey will leave the Scorpions with no more than 10 or 11 AFL listed players which includes 3 rookies making their game today in the wet conditions, a very tough ask.

  20. Casey Scorpions Pink Ribbon Game This weekend's Casey Scorpions v Geelong match is the club's Annual Pink Ribbon Game to help raise funds to find a cure for breast cancer. Saturday 4 July, 2015 at Casey Fields 2.00pm Despite the great cause, the Casey Scorpions continue to be shunned by the media. The Scorpions have only had one televised game to date this season and Casey Radio which operates from the area for some reason has been covering other football matches recently. With Melbourne playing out of town in this round, it is hoped that Demon supporters will come down and support their boys and a great cause. The development league team plays Sandringham at Trevor Barker Beach Oval, Sandringham from 9.30am.
