  1. Absolute nonsence! The game at AFL level had well and truely passed Jeff by when he received a tap on the shoulder at Melbourne. He played a good part of his last season at Sandringham, and was no more than a solid contributor at VFL level. If he still had it in him, he would have been drafted by another club!!

Totally agree, if he was up to it there would have been 15 other clubs queing up for him at the end of last year. how many tried to draft him again?

  2. It also helps get bums on seats.

How many extra supporters do you think would come to a game if they had a chance to win $5k, Or would the money be better donated to the club?

    Just to demonstrate....

General Ticket: $20 of which we get say 10%, = $2/head, so 2500 band wagon supporters required to break even.

You might be onto something, but it would need to be done early in the season in conjunction with a membership drive, i.e., Hold up <sponser sign> + your membership to win.

  3. I can't believe so many are up about the "robbo" incident.

Football is faster the ever. instinct plays a big part in it. Did he think it was touched, did the ump not blow the wistle, did he not hear the wistle, did he want to get it through as quick as possible - all good reasons to play on.

What a great part of our game - the great unknown.

Its happened, get over it - robbo is currently the only forward who looks like even knowing how to kick a regular bag and people are calling for him to go?

    Really intelligent!

  4. Exactly. I was irritated all game at the way the hawks would creep up on the mark or not move back when the umpire shouted at them. They got away with it so they did it over and over again. it may be a small thing but it does make a difference. And that is exactly what we should be doing.

The umpires were particularly weak. Worst i've seen in our games this year. I counted 5 goals coming from obviously poor umpiring. And when you add our unbelievable catastrophes by robbo and the miller handball to robbo, we weren't really that far off.

Lets not start on the push in the back rule as well! Thats got nothing to do with coaching, only umpires that fail to have the guts to call each player and each contest consistantly.

  5. You put the word 'seriously' in there, then you make a ridiculous comment. You actually think, of the 39,000 people there, that there were only 1500 of us? Come on rusty. At worst it would have been 10,000 to 29,000.

29k is a bit far off. Sitting bottom deck of the ponsford where the biggest concentration of melb supporters were sitting it was still not much more then 50/50. Top deck of the sth stand was 90-10 dorks, top deck of nth 60:40 dawks, MCC 50:50 rest of the ground 90:10.

Suggest 5k-10k is closer to the mark. Very ordinary effort by dees supporters, did my bit to make up for it!

  6. Great to hear watts has played another good/promising game. Any chance this week to play infrount of a sml crowd on Sat night?

Did anyone keep an eye on how Hughes went? Kicked 2 and after a really good game last week he might be putting pressure on a mid season elevation after all?

  7. I'm not sure if anyone has covered this anywhere else,

I thought chipper was fantastic on buddy last night. Could not see the match ups properly in the 1st Q as I'm not used to sitting behind the goals and the other end is a long way away. But the goals he did kick early I thought were on JR rather then JF. After chipper went onto him he only kicked 1 or 2 and one of those was from a push that was right infrount of the ump. Aside from that chipper gave him a bath. He is fast becoming one of our most important players.

  8. Agree with previous poster. Started on HB and looked great, had that nasty injury now playing fwd. If club wants himto play fwd they will have to wait for the body to bulk up. Should be on the HB for mine, but cant see where he fits there, but he looked great when he did play there.

think we are being too harsh on a young kid calling him a dud

The fact is ATM we have too many players for HB.

He is doing a reasonable job as a forward and is very rarely beaten. Good in the air, good at ground therefore we should persist.

Last night he didn't have the biggest impact he has had but I actually thought his game was pretty good. did some really good things off the ball and contesting that don't show up in the stats.

Moving forward he should stay as a forward and should develop into a really good player.

  9. What made him that much better was that for most of his career there was nobody else around him. A star in an average side. My first memories of the footy is from the mid 80's as an 8 or 9yr/old going only to watch robbie.

Wore the #2 throughout hi-school with pride.

  10. I like Deeoldfart's ways. We get married in October, maybe i will have to push the "for better or for worse" onto her.

make her sign a pre nup, so it is in red and blue (as opposed to black n white)!

  11. its richmond, could still be gone anytime!

TICK TICK TICK, the clock is ticking!

unbelievable allogations. If he doesn't have the players why is he coaching? Time to resign terry if this is true!

  12. On a side note.......

On the way into the ground on Sun my MFC card was scanned. I didn't think anything of it at the time otherwise I would have asked.

I presume it was to stop people getting pass outs and then handing their cards to others. But I thought maybe the MFC are being charged for the entry, if this is the case I would have paid at the gate. It is something that would be nice to know for next time.

  13. Either way, I wouldn't mind Richmond staying put with Wallace until the seasons end and striving for the finals. At least a few wins in the next few weeks by Richmond should suffice. ;)

5 or more should be sufficient to really hurt them next year and the year after as well. Could be the next contender for that dirty M word with Nth

  14. Easy on the outrage rodent. Jack was good on the weekend but has to continue that form to win a nomination. He'll get one sooner or later.

The nomination came from a winning side, I'm sure thats got a bit to do with it.

when we beat the dawks on sun evening and Franky gets another 100 supercoach points he'll get his nomination!
