  1. Martin & Batram must come in. Tappy out suspended. Reckon a few are calling time on Green prematurely. if he kicks straight we'd be singing his praises. He is still prepared to put his body on the line and I am convinced his goal kicking will come back. Plenty of blokes are still great kicks at goal well into their 30's, he is just in a funk or a touch injured. Tough to drop Sellar with the job he is doing but no point playing he and Rivers if there aren't matchups for them down back. Surely we'd be better off with Cook or Dunn filling a spot in the forward line.
  2. Even when he does it seems they are always tackled before disposing. Is it too simple to think the midfielders are on their heels too often?
  3. I quite like it when he plays the theme from Superman...I reckon that could be quite effective symbolism at 3 qtr time in a close game.
  4. That said I think we'd be mad not to bring in Stef and Couchy for GWS in a fortnight.
  5. Just out of form. Will get better. He's not on his Pat Malone. It seems each week the penny has dropped for 1 or 2 more guys. They have been asked to play a very different game, it is taking time but the results of the last 3 weeks show it's working. A handful (Jones, Clark, Rivers, Howe) got it from day 1. A few others have jumped on board in recent weeks (Garland, Grimes, Bartram) a few more just aren't there yet or aren't fit (Moloney, Jamar, Trengove). I think the coach and a few of these blokes deserve a few more games to run themselves into form and familiarity. Unfortunately we played the middling to ordinary teams (Brisbane & Bulldogs) when we were a complete rabble. If we played those 2 teams this weekend I'd be quietly confident
  6. I'd be wrapped if we go 50-50 for the last 11 games. That would mean we finish with 6-7 wins. that in itself would be a commendable effort.
  7. Agree, looks much better down back and decision making and foot skills are slightly better than adequate. Who would have thought we'dd take Garland and Rivers out of the backline and still look capable of restricting good sides? Tom McDonald take a bow. Off topic but of concern is the fact we've tried Garland and Rivers forward in roles made for Ricky P, this boy can play and needs a wake up call urgently. Another off topic but of concern, our defence of the ground ball near goals is worsening. too many crumb goals yesterday. Obviously Batram out is affecting this but where are the other small defenders? I guess we need to put faith in the coaches to develop this into the likes of Blease and Nicholson.
  8. If Green kicks straight he finshes with 3 goals and we're in for a real sniff come 3 qtr time. Shame he didn't take his chances as those were goals he'd ice a couple years back but I thought he did a nice job. Took a couple of marks running back with the flight and presented an option for 3 qs. not our worst.
  9. Loved it also...Finally some outward agression. I reckon Tappy is just starting settle into life as an AFL footballer and more of this will come. I know he played a number of games last year but from what I am observing he's just now getting the glint in his eye. A week off (if it eventuates) is well worth it if a few blokes start taking a second look when under a high ball against the Demons. For too long opposition players could run back with the flight without fear of repercussion against us. Not for much longer I suspect.
  10. Not fit, not defensive enough. Requires education. Defensive forward role is right for him at this time. No point trading because we wouldn't get enough in return and is in contract next year. Both fitness and defensive mindset can be obtained over the next 12 months at which time the difference between his best and worst game will be minimised and we'll reap significant benefits from his 2-3 blinders a year. Stick fat with Col a bit longer.
  11. Neeld's spray was definitely about him choosing to use his non-preferred side to kick without any need to do so. That is the inexplicable aspect of the mistake he made, not so much the fact that he turned it over.
  12. I am with Rhino on this 1. Hopefully 1 more surprise win for the year and at least 2 out 3 wins against GWS and GC is a realistic expectation. 4 - 5 wins would be a good result after 0-9...
  13. Frawley's likely re-inclusion this week suggests Garlo will remain forward. It was overkill having Garland, Frawley. Watts, Rivers and McDonald all in the back 6 anyway. Taking 1 tall out, albeit, unexpectedly with Frawls missing actually presents a much more balanced side. Don't underestimate the work Nicholson and Blease have done starting in the back half and pressing forward. Their pace and Watts class has directly impacted I50 counts the last 2 weeks for mine.
  14. As much as he says he moved on quickly from being removed from the leadership group I doubt that would be the case. Between that, a new coach with a new game plan that severely modifies his on field behaviours it has no doubt been a confronting period of change for Beamer. Couple that with a poorly timed form lapse (cause and effect can be argued) it is undertandable that he has laboured through the first half of the season. That said things can turn around quickly in this game and Saturday night was a step in the right direction. You have to applaud Brent for coming out and saying he wants to remain a Demon immediately after playing his best game for the year. It would have been a good opportunity to advertise himself to other suitors but he has chosen not too.
  15. Ditto Petterd & from this week Moloney!
  16. Really good questions regarding Bailey Jose. I guess only the man himself and may 1 or 2 of his key assistants would know th truth. One would think he didn't focus too much on implementing long term gameplans in his first 2 years as the club had decided to position themselves for draft picks, not unlike several other clubs had done previously. That being the case I wonder if he took what he might have observed 'the path of least resistance' in terms of game style in order to get some runs on the board and secure his position for additional years? It is obvious that the list we have accumulated is far more suited to a non-accountable, attacking non-defensive, non-physical style of play and trying to implement something different earlier may have turned out the way it has now and cost him his job even earlier than it did?
  17. We could play Tony Lockett and Gary Ablett snr out of the goal square and we'd still only kick 6 goals simply because the midfield is completely inneffective and most weeks uncompetitive. As such that needs to be the area of shake up. Out - Moloney, Jamar, Bennell, Sellar In - Couch, Martin, Taggert, Bartram Green will play, injury not so bad by reports. Showed he still has the courage and guts to put his body on the line yesterday. He may not be in the leadership group but he is still made of the right stuff for mine and must be played until Petterd, Bate, Taggert or another mid sized forward forces him out. Need to get Blease, Bail and Nicholson to spend some more time in the mdifield. Must use their leg speed and endeavour. No more Sellar, Davey or Morton... Need to consider Garland or McDonald as a forward option.
  18. Agree with Ben Hur, No way Jetta, Bennell or Batram are in our best 22 in 2015. If they are we must be playing in the VFL
  19. I agree with most of what is being said here. Once again it seems if were ever in a position to get screwed, we get screwed - 5 ways from Sunday. As much as I'd love to have Jack at Melbourne I think common sense must prevail. If we think he is in the top 5 players in the daft then take him at 3 by all means. If there are clearly better options for us then we just need to let him go, the club is bigger than 1 player regardless of committments made. No doubt if this eventuates track record suggests we end up with Richard Tambling at 3 and Jack Viney wins the brownlow in his third season.
  20. ...Petrol Prices ...the Collingwood/Mick Malthouse saga ...Derrick Rose's ACL ...My receeding hairline
  21. FWIW, regarding Jamar I think trading him would be a good move. He + one of our compo picks might be enough to land an A grade midfielder, something we need desperatley. In fact we need 3 desperately and I suspect the big Russians best footy is behind him. Plus we've still got Clark, Martin, Fitz and Gawn on the list. With the quality of our midfield at the moment Jamar could have 100 hitouts to advantage per game and we still wouldn't get the ball inside 50.
  22. Agree wholeheartedly pitchfork. It seems no matter what MFC does or who plays for them regardless of where they've come from they attract criticim at some point. Very rarely are players afforded their due when warranted. Mitch Clark has been in our best 5 players thus far (not saying much I know) but the way he has conducted himself has been exemplary. To have kicked 9 goals across 3 games when the team has had 15 inside 50s is better than anyone could expect.
  23. I'd be happy if Watts became a gun anything. Anything. Our midfield is so mediocre that you'd take 5 of Collingwood's midfielders before a single 1 of ours. 5! Swan Pendlebury Thomas Ball Beams
  24. You wouldn't pick Davey for a game of tiddlywinks after today's effort
