  1. Sylvia, finally doing his bit for the team! :D

Our chances of winning the next three weeks have just reduced by 10%, plus it means we are forced to make at least one change this week, so Watts can play (hopefully).

Yeah it is fantastic our players are getting suspended.......that bad record hangs around for 5 years Jaded, it is not a good thing!

  2. Just saw that. Ouch!

I didn't see it live, and haven't caught it on the replay. It must have been a cracker. Pity for Col given that he's in career-best touch this season.

I can only assume it is the one from the first quarter that resulted in a free from the middle after a goal. If it is that one, it is certainly not worth 3 weeks or anything at all, Selwood didn't even react apart from looking at the umpire for a free.

  3. Perhaps they are both right. After all, here is what Damian Barrett wrote:

"Stynes said he wanted to highlight Melbourne - along with all AFL clubs - needed to look at how they treat women. Yet Coglin saw it as Stynes misrepresenting the club in its past attitude to women and women's issues."

Jim used the word "we". The context was in regards to the MFC, not all AFL clubs.

  4. I was at the lunch and when I heard Jim say, "...we were nurturing an environment of exclusivity and ignorance towards women...", and that is a quote, I took it the same way Mick Coglin did. It was a clear inference that before the current boards' time there was bad attitude towards woman at the club and that the previous board was in some way responsible for creating this attitude.

  5. Really?

I'm not certain of that, but the 3 strike system is an AFL policy, matchdays fall under the WADA code. I would expect the AFL controls what goes on with it's own policy as it has nothing to do with WADA or ASADA, apart from the fact that ASADA do the testing.

  6. If the AFL has the ability to supress certain test results because of the consequences then the 'integrity' of the process, perceived or otherwise, requires that it be run by an independent authority.

They already do with their 3 strike policy. Given it goes above and beyond the WADA code, ASADA simply report the results back to the AFL. It is then up to the AFL to act on those results. However, I would expect the AFL has no choice but to act on a matchday positive though.

  7. I couldn't care less if they have a day or a week to do trades. We all know it ends at 2pm on Friday so why worry about it? We will find out what has been done then. A positive from having just one day is that it might stop the flogs who ring up radio stations and write on internet forums with the most ridiculous trades while claiming to be in the know.
