Excellent read. I’m very optimistic for Jackson and Rivers. Both were impressive last year.
I’d have Laurie and Bowey on a par for talent and execution. But they are young and didn’t play in 2020. Jordan could be very useful and his skills/kicking are very efficient. Might get a go in the first few rounds. So a player (Bowey) who you wouldn't have drafted ahead of the third and fourth last players taken in the entire draft last year, in addition to a totally undrafted and unlisted player, is now miraculously, in your view, as talented as our highest draft pick in the last six years?

Number 28 is Hunter Howden from ACT. One to watch as a tall wing (185cm). Great hands, great kick and mark given the chance. Big tank, can run all day and with his footy IQ was free most of the game.
Thanks, he kicked a set shot goal very nicely, but was quiet from what I remember, did look a good size and moved well, but couldn't get into it. Is he on Casey's list?

Majak Daw has been given the #28 made famous by Oscar McDonald.
Deakyn Smith has #34 which Marty Hore released to go to #21.
I think Glenn Molloy would be extremely disappointed with that post :)

For those who watched the B game and have an interest in Casey, some of the players to the best of my eye were
8. Jack Bell
10. Corey Ellison
11. Andrew Courtney
22. Mitch Lewis
26. Tye Hourigan (not 100% it was him, but may have been)
29. Ryan Sparkes
34. Riley Baldi
42. Tom Freeman
44. Luca Goonan
Few others (14, 28 etc) not sure who they were, 14 may have been Kyle Stainthorpe.

I'm pushing it. Is he any good?
I haven't seem him play, but his accolades in the Alice seem to suggest he is very good at that level and he has been involved in the SANFL with North Adelaide, suggesting he is no mug. To go the effort to train and play there wouldn't be something done just for the fun of it, he must be able to play a bit..
The encouraging thing about him is he has made rep squads two and three years ahead of time, generally that is a sign of good talent. Another positive, which can be a negative, is that he is tiny. To be able to perform at a good standard against your peers under age and conceding size is a good indicator. Unfortunately, if there is no physical growth it can be detrimental eventually. Without having seen him play at all, there would seem to be at least some signs that he might be one to follow the progress of, at least. Quite of a lot of talented indigenous juniors get school scholarships and the like, so that might be his pathway forward (pure guesswork) and would be another good sign.

MikeAlpha, does that effectively mean we have first crack at Tyrell Martin next year? I'm guessing yes.
Fairly certain he will be a bottom ager next year and draft eligible at the 2022 draft.

Can anyone fill us in on the promising youngsters and Foot maybe Norm?
They could all be handy if given the chance.
The three ex-Gippsland Power graduates, Baldi, Sparkes and Hourigan, were all above average NAB League players and very good team players but probably lacked the X-factor to be drafted.
Baldi is a pretty highly-credentialed junior rover who can play forward, wins a lot of the footy, cracks in, does everything pretty well, but probably just not penetrative at his size (he's probably 175cm) to be have been drafted to play midfield at AFL level and not tricky enough as a forward. A poor man's Caleb Serong.
Sparkes is a wingman/flanker, neat with what he does with with the footy, but again for a wingman maybe deemed a tad vanilla. Doesn't do much wrong, but not a hugely impactful player, a get it in space and safely move it on-type player, not a gamebreaker enough for the most part.
Hourigan is a third defender, similar in style and appearance to Tom Jonas but obviously not as good a player. He's pretty good but probably not athletic or big enough to shutdown good AFL forwards and doesn't compensate with enough rebounding punch to have been draftable. He can play forward a bit as well. Probably will compete for the roles Hutchins has been doing for Casey. Probably would fit best in a zoning back 6.
Courtney is a ruckman who will probably be Bradtke's backup, depending on where Tom McDonald fits at Casey. Has unbridled athleticism, but his game is uncultured. His mobility lets him be used in other positions - A project player.
Foot is a run and carry wingman/half forward. Probably has the most X-factor and game-breaking ability of the group, but obviously didn't do enough to stick with the Swans, a team who aren't super blessed with outside runners.

Key ForwardSome others included in the mix are a couple of South Australian father-son prospects with famous names (Wanganeen and Burgoyne) and a cousin of were others to show Kysaiah Pickett who has links to a club in Adelaide. It comes as no surprise that he’s described as “small”.
Great post, Horne, Daicos, Murley, Rachele, Roberts, Sinn and Sonsie all probably would be in top 10 plantoms, Burgoyne probably as well. I think you refer to Gavin Wanganeen's son Tex Wanganeen. There is another Wanganeen, as well, who should be in that list - Nasiah Wanganeen - who incidentally is the son of former North Melbourne defender Eddie Sansbury but is an intriguing indigenous prospect - 187cm 64kg at the moment, loves to carry the ball from half-back.

It seems like none of the recruiters know that Tasmania exists. Ben Brown, Brodie Mihocek, Jeremy Howe, Jay Lockhart and probably a few more that I missed have had to play in state leagues for a few years to get drafted in.
This year Oliver Davis, Jackson Callow, Sam Collins and Patrick Walker all presented as good youngsters. They were able to play TSL games and excelled against open age players. Whilst the TSL is not the strongest comp, I think clubs will look to rookie a few of these blokes. Davis and Callow were potential top 30 picks so they may still get a rookie spot but spots are tight. Callow is a strong marking forward who kicks goals.
The two youngsters I’d look at are
Patrick Walker - wing/half back. He meets JT’s requirements of good ball user, creative, good decision maker. Excellent skills, good runner and not unlike Trent Rivers. His kicking efficiency is elite.
Rhyan Mansell (played at Woodville West Torrens in 2020). He’s now 20 after being previously overlooked in the draft. Solid year for the SA premiership team across wing and half back. Has very good pace. Excellent skills. I like his run and carry and his secondary run after disposing of the footy to create more options. If he’s not rookied, he would be a good player for the “train-on” summer invite.
The Tasmanian players were very exposed, much more so than the Victorians. Callow was probably closest but he has been a man among boys at NAB League level, the inference being he projects to not being able to control opponents at AFL level like does at under-age level. He is very similar to what Sydney's Heath Grundy was in his draft year. Grundy used to dominate with his strength advantage as a forward in the SANFL and the national championships but only ended up rookie pick. Same fate probably for Callow. People like Knightmare overrate these bigger types year after year. Davis probably too small and not enough tricks for an inside mid. Collins as an intercepter, third defender type probably too slow and, again. advantaged being man against boys. Walker uses the ball well but another vanilla player, big question mark can he actually be a weapon out of defence and if he can defend good players.

With Bowey, Laurie and Rosman added thats means we have 36 primary and 5 rookie (incl Bradtke as a cat B). Further additions? 1 on primary list and 1 on rookie list??
Some chance we take a rookie tomorrow and a spot left over for a train-on player that can be added nearer to start of season.

I think they can because they have an extra second rounder, but not 100% certain of that.

Phillips to North. Good pick, for mine.
I like the pick and the player but the question in the new draft era that we probably will never know is whether they could have traded down a few spots and got an extra pick and still got him? Obviously they think not.
