  1. Agreed. Have said a few times now that no player needs a new coach more than Cale.
  2. That clip was a classic. How had I not seen that before?
  3. Exactly. Any support (as a Tasmanian) gave to a Tassie team would be secondary at best. As much as I'd love games here every second week, it makes no sense. I'm an MFC supporter through and through now, it's part of my makeup and I'd find it really tough to change. What might happen is that my kids grow up supporting the Tassie team instead of succumbing to my brainwashing, but this isn't growing support for the game, it's just diluting the support for other teams.
  4. Competing directly with #46 for a spot on a back flank I think. The stakes were upped late in the year - ball's in #7's court now. God speed.
  5. What were your doubts about his application based on?
  6. Not fussed one way or the other with this bloke. I absolutely love his endeavour and his competitiveness, but as a footballer he's 'par'. Replaceable, and if we're short on spots after trade week (read: can't offload Bate and/or Dunn) I'd be happy for a line to go through his name to clear space.
  7. WYL, this is sentimental nonsense. As Thomo said, he was sacked. The relationship has been terminated - full stop. The parting might've amicable with hugs and pats on the back all round, but our involvement with the guy on a professional level is over, for good. FWIW I agree with you that he took a bullet for the club in 08-10 and for that reason I'm very grateful and pleased that he's been able to continue his career in footy at another club. That's got little to nothing to do with why he was dismissed though.
  8. That about covers it for me too. Happy for him to stay, but understand if he goes.
  9. Whoa, steady on! What's that saying about not being able to polish a turd? Yes that's it - "you can't polish a turd". Anyway, what the rest of your post amounts to is that some of it might be Mahoney's fault, some of it might not be Mahoney's fault, some of it might be the midfield's fault and some of it might be Bailey's fault. Well done, you've just arrived at "no idea how much of it is Mahoney's fault".
  10. I'd say the phone call was made shortly after Neeld's appointment.
  11. I doubt it. I think if given the choice, Neeld would've chosen quality over quantity. Or he'd have gone to Adelaide.
  12. Ditto. Shattered. I think it'd be inappropriate for me to post mine anyway.
  13. I read it the same way as Rogue. Perhaps it was the year before he was drafted that we overlooked him, as he was drafted as mature aged IIRC.
  14. Special props to Kimbo Hagdorn for plucking this one. I think the player with very recent premiership experience was one thing lacking from our lengthy coaching roster so far. Very pleased that we have this now, and he seems well qualified for a player out of the game so recently. Very happy.
  15. Geelong. Nothing to do with outdated grudges, I just have a Collingwood supporting family member who is unbearable when they're winning. Other than that I have no great problem with either side.
  16. Precisely. And anyway, if playing ability has any bearing on coaching ability then we'd better show Neeld the door after his forgettable 74 games at AFL level.
  17. Nitpicking on a throwaway line here I realise, but I don't think Weetra was potential wasted. By my understanding he was a nice kid (which is why it's unfair that he seems to get picked on so much) who worked hard but just didn't have it.
  18. You forgot the good old "it's understood" with no quotes mentioned or names dropped.
  19. Yep - spewing. I really liked the idea.
  20. I'm aware - it's my son's favourite movie, so I've watched it approximately a gazillion times (conservative estimate).
  21. To quote a great man (?) from a great movie - Sid from Ice Age: "You're hanging out with us now. Dignity's got nothing to do with it."
