The banner and general fuss was Gawn's idea apparently.

I'm not, it's a bogus selection. Both Jamar and Fitzy have equal chance of playing. The only genuine possibility of playing from those ins is Newton IMO.
-
Not a bullseye, but at least he hit the target with that one. It goes without saying that the fresh air shots with the early picks hurt.

Hah, I highly doubt it. I hope she has higher standards than that.

People were already writing the history as it was happening Bossdog. Some decided in 2001 that Green was soft and couldn't let go of it despite the evidence. He was no inside player, for sure, but he put his body on the line when it was required. He took some amazing marks going back with the flight when he was playing as a mid in the later years.

I know two, and one of them is currently behind bars. So yep, just one to wear the brunt here too.

Newton going okay at Casey.

Funding player brawls. Hmm. I admit I enjoyed the Jones wrestle, but I am very uncomfortable with this idea.

You used punctuation. You suck at this game.

I'm more of a great team with heaps of AA's, myself.

I don't think this view holds water anymore. That No. 1 draft picks should become stars is a view that belongs in 2000 I think. There have just been way too many of them that haven't for me to be able to hang on to that idea. There is obviously a higher probably of yielding a star with the first pick, but a failure to do so doesn't make the player unworthy. We all hoped that Jack would become elite. We're all disappointed that he hasn't. I think you need to adjust your expectations and valuation of what No. 1 draft picks should be though. They're no less of a lottery than any number pick in the draft. You said yourself he's showing he will probably be valuable going forward - in a lottery that is a good result. Not the best, but good, and certainly better than dud, mistake etc.

To be fair, it doesn't say anything about leaving for better pay.

$1000 fine for Jones for wrestling. Money well spent I reckon.

Is there some reason to doubt that he will, other than the fact that he hasn't yet? Just wondering if I've missed something or if this is just the usual "how could anyone possibly love us?" self-flagellation type stuff.

Brisbane Lions Consider Asking for Priority Picks
Nasher replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
It was more aimed at monoccular, though it was more out of general frustration as it's not the first time this has come up. Probably an overreaction though, so apologies to all for that. I'll remove Dick (only with a capital 'D') from the censored list, and add that other word for you all. -

Words can be added or removed from the censor list at will, but it is a very manual task. Whoever wrote the list (which is just one we downloaded off the internet somewhere) obviously hadn't come across the word s-storm before and had problems with people using Richard in an abusive context. Lots of other 's' words are in there, but every possibility needs to be in there for it to work, as it doesn't partially match words (otherwise it would censor "parse", for example). I know it's silly at times, but all you need to do is have an adult conversation with me about it instead of tantruming in the middle of threads and I'll do something about it. -
Maverick Weller. That tackle really was a thing of beauty. High degree of difficulty, caused a free that would otherwise have been a goal, and would have hurt the recipient like a bastard. Great stuff.

Not often you see two players still currently on the rookie list as the last two touches in a goal. Other than maybe Bernie's third, no other goal got me psyched up more than that one. Crucial in the context of the game and he was just so stoked about it. He has an enthusiastic bounce about him that I find infectious, I wonder if it has a similar effect on his teammates. Just looks like he loves being out there and is playing accordingly.

I don't think Collingwood are gifting us anything because they don't make the fixture. They don't get to decide whose home game it is, so it is not theirs to gift us.

You want your sub to be a fresh set of running legs. If you really feel the need for two ruckman, start them both and sub one off later if it's not working. I remember discussing this when the rule was introduced, and my view was that a ruckman should never be the sub. That view hasn't changed.

I'd think 150 would be a stretch given the slow start to his career, let alone 200. I just read Burgs' column article and I reckon he's in the Jetta Mancrush club. Understandable given the way he's gone about it since being rookie listed. It's been a while since a player has come back from the dead as he did.

Brisbane Lions Consider Asking for Priority Picks
Nasher replied to The Song Formerly Known As's topic in Melbourne Demons
This highlights the dumbness of the "the MFC did to itself" argument many fans put forward for the MFC not getting a PP. Cascading cockups is a prerequisite for a club landing itself at the bottom of the ladder for a lengthy stretch. No club that has struggled has done so through doing everything right. -
Heh. And when he loses: more legal bills to pay. The lawyers, as always, are the only winners in all of this.

It was a "press red" option to listen to an intentionally biased all-Collingwood commentary (Ed, Shaw et al). The actual game was called by Hudson, with Derm and Roo adding their 2c. For some stupid reason Fox are playing the novelty commentary instead of the proper one for all the replays.
