  1. There is a "highlight" package of his which shows a few shanks. Try this one instead to see how powerful and skilled Petracca is. If we land him and Brayshaw it'll be a great draft for us!
  2. Really hope we get Petracca with pick 2. Assuming Frawley leaves and we get pick 3, I'd like to see it traded again for a ready made midfield gun. If Saints pick Petracca with pick 1 I'll be annoyed, as we need midfield talent and he seems to be the best of the lot with a big body and is ready to go Round 1 2015.
  3. I agree. IMO Boyd is better than McCartin. Bigger, stronger, more versatile, better performed at the same age. There are rumours he is very unhappy up at GWS too, so perhaps they are going to trade him off while they can still get the best value for him. I don't rate McCartin. He's an old school one out forward, and with the way the modern game is he's not going go get the chance to be one out and lead into space. His style just doesn't translate to AFL. He also has diabetes, which might effect his ability to train and build further endurance. I'm expecting him to be a bust. I think it's a really weak draft overall. The top end talent doesn't seem to be a strong as the past few years. Hogan is the best of the lot. Cannot wait to see him out there clunking them!
  4. Petracca is who we want. Big bodied aggressive player. He has dominated up forward kicking bags of goals, and dominated in patches through the midfield. He doesn't have a big enough tank to be an AFL midfielder straight off the bat, so will play half forward early in his career until he builds up to move through the midfield permanently. Not convinced he will be a superstar, but he is a safe bet to be a solid player who helps his team and lifts those around him. Aggressive, big body who loves to throw his weight around. We need his type to help develop our culture. Plays a lot like Dustin Martin actually but his kicking is not as good as Dusty. If Frawley leaves and we get a first round compo pick, I'd hope we trade it for an established midfielder and a first rounder, same as the Tyson trade last year. If we wound up using it though, I'd like us to take Brayshaw. Assuming he doesn't flee home to North, he will be a solid 250-300 game midfielder. He just accumulates ball and goes into pack after pack. Think Lenny Hayes with a more balanced and penetrating kick. Will slot straight into the midfield, or could be thrown to halfback to marshal the troops and setup play like Sam Mitchell has at stages. I don't think we should draft any key position players early, as our key position depth is a strength IMO. We need more quality midfielders to add to our midfield rotation. Getting Vince, Tyson and Cross last year was huge. We need to add more this year to continue to build because as good as those guys have been in patches, our midfield is still ranked bottom 4 on output. Games are won and lost in the midfield, so we need to improve this or we'll continue to languish at the bottom.

Toumpas is not soft. In the last few games he's put his body on the line several times and showed this. He's starting to get used to the speed of the game at AFL level now and is showing the talents that had him so highly rated. He'll be a fine player for us. people need to quit their bitching about a first year kid with less than 10 games to his name! For the record, Cale Morton's first season was one of the best by a Demon in my lifetime. He racked up 30 touches and 3 goals against Geelong at their peak. Noone else on our list has done the same. Yes he didn't turn out the way we hoped, but what's the point of bagging him when he isn't at the club anymore and has no bearing on our future?

Betts would be a great get. He puts pressure on the defence, he creates and makes the most of opportunities, and most importantly he kicks bags of goals. You could rely on him to kick 40-50 goals a year crumbling for the talks we have up forward in Clark, Dawes and Hogan. He'd make our forward line very potent and have 5-6 years left in him. Comparing him to Cyril is a bit different. Firstly I don't believe Cyril is a free agent? Secondly Betts is a better forward IMO. He kicks a lot more goals than Cyril, and at the end of the day i'd take someone kicking his 2-3 every game than someone kicking a freakish goal one week then not kicking a goal for 2 weeks. Cyril is capable of more brilliance, and is more versatile, but he is injury prone and inconsistent. Cyril is more capable of pushing up the ground and taking a game apart, but he's honestly a bit like Sylvia in this regard. He's very inconsistent and is one of the most over-hyped and over-rated players in the game at present. How he got an AA place last year absolutely blew my mind. Shouldn't have even made the squad! He is very talented though, just inconsistent and injury prone. Betts would be the best value out of the small forward free agents, and it is a spot we need to fill.

Did you guys watch him today? He didnt star, but he was rock bloody solid. He was in the packs abit more today too. His hands in close were fantastic actually, and he was prominent in the 3rd quarter when Casey put the foot down and won the game. His running to space and setting up team mates was definitely a highlight of the quarter, and should have Melbourne supporters excited at those footy smarts. He was running to the right spots, and finished with 22 touches 1 goal from 3 quarters of footy. He turned it over twice in the first half from poor kicks into the wind, but other than that his disposal efficiency was one of the best on the ground. He missed the last quarter due to the minor ankle injury, but seriously, he couldnt have done much more today other than bombing a 60 metre goal or something miraculous. His body is already looking like it's getting bigger and harder. He is an 18 year old school boy in his first season, and he is starting exactly the same way Nick Reiwolt did; playing up the ground on the wing and flanks. He is at 196cms and 86kgs atm apparently, over the next 2 preseasons I'd wager he'll bulk up another 10kgs to 96kgs, and be an athletic hard working marking forward exactly like Nick Reiwolt. I'm predicting this year and next will be learning years as he continues to gain more experience and put on more size, but 2011 he will stamp himself on the competition. Watts is an athletic, agile big man, and will wind up a mobile CHF, but what we also need is a big FF to compliment him. Anyhoo, he's going along beautifully, and anyone who thinks otherwise obviously knows nothing about football. He was taken as a long term prospect, so give him time
  8. With Maric and Wonna up forward, Davey and Jetta could rotate through midfield and forward line. Maybe even throw one to bolt off the HBF. Loving this pace seriously. Exactly what we needed! Welcome to the club little Jetta! :D
