I was born in Frankston and this was the first footy ground I went to. My dad was chief trainer at the club and we went to the Frankston game every Saturday. I don’t know what league they were playing in then but I do remember that they played in St Kilda jumpers.

I said to a friend the other day that the best thing about Melbourne FC these days is that, apart from our president, I cannot name another director. This is a far cry from a few years ago, when I could name quite a few.

Me, for one. I thought he was on very thin ice and gone at year's end. I am very impressed with the way that he has applied himself and the new game plan seems to suit him.

The Rising star voting will be most interesting. I don't really care if Jesse wins it but I don't trust the people who will vote; Lewis Taylor, really? If Cripps and Hogan were lined up and you could only pick one for your football club, it is a no brainer. Everybody, even Carlton supporters, would pick the key forward. They would hate missing out on a gun midfielder but key forwards like Hogan don't come along very often.
