If you like NBA, sure. I freakin' hate the sport. I like basebal a bit, but I just can't get to liking basketball in general. Rather like soccer for me. I'm going to definitely get gamepass this year. We won't get to use it live, if we're being honest, but I like waking up, refusing to watch replays or check news, and then watching it later in my own time.

Behind Rivers certainly. And yeah, it's one of the more fun divisions to follow I reckon. The one thing I hate about following the Birds is the every-year strength of their division. Giants and Cowboys are rarely weak sides. Philly have been ok under Reid, and now the weakest team in the division are getting a taller better Mike Vick... It's not a stretch to say that the Eagles are now more or less the ugly step-children of their division, particularly if Washington get a few early wins. You don't have that problem. I like it. You should think about Foxtel. They get an amazing amount of football. Particularly if you like College, which I don't. As for gamecentre... I didn't get it this last season, but I will now. I used the streaming radio coverage, because the Eagles home commentator is awesome. I think a good net connection is a must for NFL fans, particularly on game day. There's SOOO mch football on each Sunday. ? Awesome upgrade I thought. Peyton is one of the best players the game's ever seen. He and Brady have owned the comp for years. Yeah he's old, but it's the NFL. They're not youth obsessed like we are. They really have it right over there, in that rebuilding doesn't take 5 years. It can take 3 if you do it right, particularly if you draft a decent young QB you can deveop. Tebow was going nowhere. Everyone knows it. And we'll have another team limp into the playoffs on a wildcard. As for Sanchez, 3 years, 41 Mil... That's nothing compared to the big names who are all on 5 years, 70+ mil. Vick is on 100+... And no-one thinks he'l be running that place for more than 3 of those years. Contracts are about as permanent as the weather. I reckon Rex is patching up holes for a season or two... But you can bet if he had a chance to get RG3 or Luck in a draft one year, that would be bye-bye to both Tebow and Sanchez instantly...
  3. Amazing. Love the amount of perfect games and no-nos we've seen in recent years. Phillies off to a very shabby start. under .500 and bottoming their division.

New coach though... That's a bit of a worry. I remember two seasons ago they came out of nowhere to make the playoffs... But I dunno... I find it hard to EVER go past Rivers. There's no way they were supposed to go as bad this last year as they did. Somehow he went from a top 5 QB to somewhere near the middle. Makes no sense, and I expect him to hit back HARD this coming season. And while they're third in line, I don't think the Raiders can be dismissed. Funny that the team that won the division is the one I'm just confused about. Not sure if they're going to do anything in 6 months. They shouldn't have won anything this last season. Just on Rivers... The top 5 QBs is something I always watch with interest. This last season you'd have to say the top 5 were Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Stafford and Eli... with maybe one of Big Ben or maybe Romo if you like skirts and handbags. The season before it was Peyton, Brees, Brady, Vick and Rivers. This coming season it could be one of sooooooo many. I'm relatively new to the NFL, so I wonder if the top 5 changes that much fromyear to year... but coming into this year, obviously the big 3 stay in Rodgers, Brees and Brady... But who after that? I look forward to running it by the group here to see who has it right. For mine, there's another 5-8 serious contenders to jump into the top 5. I reckon P. Manning, Romo, Ryan, Rothlisberger, Rivers, Vick, and even Newton could come into it... with a few other names I like but not THAT much, like Smith. I don't rate Eli as highly as he played this year, and I think Stafford is a little too young to be called as reliable as some of the older guys who had sore luck this year. So I'm going for Vick and Rivers to slide back where they belong in the top 5. But then Im biased.

Welcome! I love this thread. And I'm PUMPED for next year. You'll get to know everyone's favourites on here. There's Texans, Packers, Hawks, and 49ers fans here among other I think. I'm Philly (Did I need to say that with my avatar?) I reckon it's win/win for everyone. Firstly, the Broncos, especially Elway must have been thinking, "how the HELL do we get rid of this kid? He's in his early 20s, is a media darling, but he can't throw. What the hell am I going to do? I don't wanna run a club with a QB that takes all day to get rid of it? The only thing that'll save me here is an aging hall of famer who'll have a couple more years before we retire him and trade up for the next QB phenom. How often do they become availab.... sorry hang on... phone's ringing.... Yes? Oh hey... Sorry... Who's asking to get traded to us????!!!!" Then consider the Jets. Rex is sitting there thinking "I can't get rid of Sanchez... he sucks... he's middle of the road, and always will be... How do I get rid of him? Jesus... it's like having Kyle Orton as your starting QB going into the season. Speaking of which... how DID the Broncos get rid of that guy?.... hmmm....." And if it all breaks down, at least they've put a rocket up Sanchez's behind. You're missing the point. It's not what they got. It's what they got rid of. Oh jeez. The only thing I can think of that's more depressing than the Giants lucking into a superbowl win after only just sneaking past the Eagles and Cowgirls in their division. And that's the next Mike Vick (only taller and better) playing for the Skins. That basically means that every team in the NFC East now has a good or scary QB. Romo, Manning, Vick and RG3... Ye gods.
  6. Commetti is the only commentator. Always has been. The sooner Bruce is done, the better. He's lame, cheesy and past it, as well as hugely irrelevant. Whateley is awesome. And I reckon Schwabb is another who does better than people say. I can do without BT. I reckon he has he theatrics, but is very biased.

Yeah. Jesus it hurts... My personal most hated team. Most Eagles fans, I'm told, hate the Cowgirls more... but not me.

  10. Indian's should be ashamed. But won't be. This arogance will be a cancer on the team for 20 years before someone in their inner sanctum realises they've gone and wounded their cricket culture with sugar-cricket. Going to take a long time to fix it, and in that time, other test naions will reap the benefits... Couldn't happen to a more smug bunch of knowitalls. Doni, Sehwag and even Tendulkar at times... individual cricketers beaten regularly by good teams. They held the #1 rankings for 3 months in total in this "golden era" for them. I smile to think of Ganguly watching this. What a laugh. Bring on the British, the Ashes, and real cricket.

Disappointing yes, but better than the G-girls. I saw both games in their entirety. Eli isn't Peyton, isn't even in the top 5 QBs going round, but has a 50-50 chance of ending his career with 1+ more superbowl rings than him. Still. One of the better things about the NFL, the fact anything can happen, and generally does. And I would say that, yes, they were worse. Going into the season they were a top 4 side and one many favoured to knock off the Packers (dream team ring any bells). In the end they were done by mid season... Whereas the Pack were always a top 2 side, and they MADE the playoffs.

Yup. Eagles were given so much crap all year. We hammered these guys once, and narrowly lost the other time. One measly game from winning the division... and these lucky breaks go all the way? Kill me if they win the lot.

How good were the Giants players giving Rodgers the discount doublecheck every time he got sacked. How do the yanks do that... make mediocre gags look funny. Sportcentre's been doing it for years.

Green bay AND the Saints not in the Championship game? Wow... How strong is the NFC this year. It's a shame one fo the two didn't make it through, the Giants don't deserve it at all, Green Bay handed them the game. Would love to see 49ers go to the Superbowl. They play with heart. But how gooddo the Pats look. Rumbling.

We got nothing. They'll use injuries as an excuse, but I think they're a bottom 10 side. Maybe even bottom 6. A lot of other apparently crap teams, with as easy a draw as the eagles have had, would have racked up as many wins as the Eagles, or more. And if Tebow can get the Broncos up, but Vick can't, that says a lot about the quality of the DC and OC, as well as the team in general. Awful.

Yikes. Now season's officially over. I don't know how that works, that it was over 6 weeks ago, but somehow they were still a chance. Fire sale at Philly... Jackson, Rodgers-Cromartie, Reid... Rollins and Howard from the Phillies... Going cheap.

By the way Nuggets, how can you NOT have any wild enthusiasm for the Pack at the moment? I gotta say if my tea were playing like them I'd be going off my tree. Or the niners for that matter.

If Young had screwed up badly, the Eagles would play Vick. They do have a tendency to lean on him. Reid's mancrush on him is intense. And it's fair enough too. The losses we've had have not been his fault by any stretch. Thing with Young, he'll throw an Int for every TD he drives you to. With a defence allowing only 29 yards rushing, and only giving up 10 points... that's better than any NFL team's average... on both counts.... by a mile. ANY quarterback would win. Vick would have won by a lot more. I'll take Vick at 80% over Young. But then, Young at 100% and with a LOT of confidence out of that game would be better than a winged Vick. Give me until the second half of the game I might change my tune. Especially with our secondary leaking big plays to Brady. Meh. Why are we talking about Eagles? They don't deserve any attention.

You think I haven't considered that last part? This is what the Eagles do though. They exist on the edge of oblivion, and then when they've done incredible things to put themselves into an enviable position, they blow it. Last year v the Giants perfect example. 3rd last game of regular season, they're losing by 3 touchdowns with 7 minutes to go... if they lose the game, Giants go a game and division record ahead (basically two games) and pretty much go straight through to playoffs. Instead, Vick leads the team back into it and Jackson runs in the punt before overtime and we win... thereby almost assuring Giants were finished for the year. Sure enough, we lose the last two games (resting everyone) then in the first playoff game against the Pack, Mick the [censored] Vick throws a pick. What a dick.

Gonna pick the Lions tonight over GB... they have to lose one, this may as well be it. Dallas will beat Miami, unfortunately. San Fran to make it 10-1 over Ravs. Over to you Nuggets.

QB merry-go-round looking interesting. Orton actually landed somewhere he might actually get a start, with Cassel gone for the season. Vick probably won't play on Sunday. Young actually looked pretty good last week. Awesome.

Stafford CAN play. Miami coming good just as the Eagles are due to play them. Palmer is Oakland's season... some say they're the biggest chance to win the AFC. Big call. Bears are 50-50 to make postseason with Cutler hurt. Niners are just fantastic. NFC championship game is all but theirs and Packers. They'll definitely get 1+2 seed. Giants and Saints won't. We'll know MUCH more in about three weeks. All these hangers-on will be gone. Steelers and hopefully Bengals will get the wildcards in AFC... and Lions and I think Falcons will get them in the NFC. Bears to drop out. Which is a real shame, they probably deserve it. Love their D.

Dappa Dan replied to Dappa Dan's topic in Other Sports
Starting to take shape. Though in the NFC there's a glut of teams still in the running for the wild cards. I reckon the 49ers, the way they're playing, could go all the way to the superbowl. But I reckon they'll be playing the Packers in the NFC championship game, and will likely lose. I don't even know who to like from the AFC anymore. Ravens must give their fans heart attacks. Nobody believes Cincy are good enough, even though they're winning, Everybody thinks the Jets are a threat, despite getting knocked off by a college QB. Oakland might be up there? Pats? Steelers? ANd nobody seems to want to talk about the Texans who have a lovely balance.
