  1. No you see HSOG is under the illusion BH would care
  2. funniest thing ive read here. you win...youre king
  3. quite the point really isnt it Another is invariably clubs have someone(s) in mind for a particular reason. Whether it be from testing , psych evaluations etc the clubs often have a clearer picture of who these kids are than the media etc. Except us in recent decades...of course
  4. So ...youre applying for the king of the dung heap title I take it then
  5. HSOG...thorough if nothing else. We can change our minds
  6. Sylvia never won a B and F..never really came near it. Bernie has..he wins hands down Want to further compare. Pick a number 1-10 that represents the best each could produce then multiply it by the number of games each did enlightening isnt it
  7. A fascinating and intriguing reading. Emma is right up there with martin. They are eons ahead of the rest at that rag. Back to Nathan. he has come to represent so much about the team. We were supposed to go places and we've gone nowhere and yet the belief , the hunger is still strong. he's refreshingly candid. No tickets on himself. Im glad he stayed. Im glad he still believes not only in himself but that we are still sort of on the right track, if a little aimless before. One wonders what might not had been had it not been for our thumping of the Swans that day years back. Its very fitting he wears 2. He is very much a Melbourne Champion, indeed a champion of Melbournes efforts, before, now and to come We might finally be going the right way.
  8. The thing is I dont think he is actually delisted yet. I think thatll happen with first list lodgements on thursday. is probably why Cross hasnt been announced yet either.
  9. just as an aside.. How many drafts actually go the way pundits predict, other than say first 2-3 picks which always seem a lockin ?
  10. the abridged version. Came to country as 5yo. Didnt know what footy was til after cricket season grade 1. Fell in love with it, you could use hands , I was rubbish at soccer. Played all through early school, played for school , played regionals, selected emergency for State rep. No one got sick Similar time played for local suburban u/age. My best mate got selected for Richmond little leaguers, cant remember how but ended up there to for a year Got to run out on G, kicked goals. all in wrong colours..lol High school. Moved to Syd. 1970 My school had no Footy team , ended up playing RL as I could drop kick a ball.. Clever rues, 5th tackle , pass it to 'bub' who'd slot a field goal. Worked a treat til other schools twigged . Found the dirt very quickly in some games afterwards.1971 introduce AFL . Team resembled revenge of the nerds but hey it was footy. Back to Vic Play'd Bball mostly as training was easier and local. Worked until Footy coach sprung me and ended up playing both as schedules permitted ( or not ) Took great speccy using A Moir in a Garry Lyon role in interhouse footy one year. Uni -Played inter uni for a few years went o/s even managed to teach a few Irish lads how to kick a ball at Regents Park... that was 1983 , so who knows what that started !! back home ...play some burb footy in SESFL for a few seasons, mainly in the Poos Playd a few charity style and pickup games . havent really kicked a ball in anger for a long time now. Kept playing gerry bball til about 5 years ago Love footy
  11. So who is it you actually barrack for ? Obviously not us
  12. Ive seen a fair few training sessions over the years, though not so many under Dean or Mark. One thing I did notice at these was the lack of what I saw Roos doing with the kids. I have to assume there was some coaching along these lines but if the way we've played over recent years is anything to go by either there werent too many of these clinics or no one listened. Perhaps they'll listen now !!
  13. great get yep..at about 3.31... "we never have a scattergun approach" Loved it. Someone nail this to Barretts forehead !! Going to be interesting to see the Roos' Dees take the field
  14. I wouldnt be unhappy if youre right
  15. I was going to ask why they are playing with little balls ..... but decided not to
  16. Succinctly put. Some are good at doing it ( playing ) Some are good at Communicating it ( coaching ) A rare few are both. We only need to draw from the latter 2 . people who can convey the nuances of the game. It always tickles me when some bloke retires and is instantly elevated to star coach in waiting. He may well be , but on ground ability assures nothing. I think Roos knows what he's doing. I'll go with that for the time being
  17. Thanks Nasher et al... Feel like my old self now
  18. yes it includes those who roll it over. We're effectively the first to get counted. Theg have our permissions and money
  19. Pretty much this. Nominal wing but effectively a sweeper role
  20. mirror It's your opinion... and you're not really as clever at this as you think mate. All games back at G ...because.. well you just argued yourself ina circle. well done Only for 3 years but not a bandaid..hmm.. I see.. tomato, tomahto !! go on have the last word. I know others understand it. You plainly dont.
  21. He is but hes not quite the fierce adversary he once was. Hes not going to have a lot of decent experienced mates now. he can mind the kindergarten for Leppa
  22. oh its my fault Billy... there you go You push a barrow which suggest its either a competitive team playing elsewhere or a poor performances at the G . You offer it as a gimme, as defacto substance and go on from there. Performance comes from the quality of staff and the players. We have squandered time and money on many of the wrong ones. They , together with those squandering the money are responsible for our lack of success. Going interstate in itself offers nothing in terms of bettering our playing position or results, just does a bandaid job on cashflow. My attending or not affects the gate none. Ive already paid. Im a member. Less games in Melbourne factually presents less ability to attend. its a reality you seem happy to overlook. By your rationale we should therefor play no games in Melbourne , especially at the G as we'd lose less. This is typical of outlook that cant see that the future is to grow the club, better its bottom line, make its brand more profitable and in order to do that then yes, improving your performance is key, and major steps are obviously in gear to do so , but you also need to make a comittment to your customers, your audience your potential members and that is to be relevant to them. you talk of excuses Billy and all you're proffering is another one for people not to attend, not to be interested, not to bother. Yes people are fickle
