as pezza alludes.. ( though mabe for differing reasons ) the score belies the reality. Th eroos ough tto have shat all over us save for one quarter of decent footy and the inability of the roos to find the big sticks today. I wont discuss the coaching.. we all know about it.. for a chnage I'll point straight at the players for th most part. A couple of areas let us down week in week out. We have the inability to deliver a ball in any meaningful way constantly putting the next demon inthe firing line or off his stride. Its just plain pathetic to watch. Again I say we cant as a team kick for nuts !!...and preceding any ability to kick is out decision making... do we have any.. time after time we sell our players into hospital situatoin...do they have shares in MBF or something! also exaple... Johnson not thinking at crucial moment of game....that could have won it..instead it stuffed it up !! well done fool !! cant blame him for poor thinking...he just DIDNT think !!. We arent a team...quite frankly we are a shambles...the score flattered us...again !!. Still no closer to a win !! now where are all those who thought we wouldnt be 9 for none now ??. good to see some glimpes of footy today...unfortunately you have to do it for the majority of the 120 ?? we cant ..simple as that.

only channel 10 want it at night...only for ratings.. quite frankly they only hava the right to broadcast...not to dictate.. . They can ram it where the sun dont shine for mine. Its been on in the arvo since dot...and can stay that way. Dont mess with tradition 10...or move on.

I remember this game last year... Jones had a blinder...Neeta was true.. all things were firing on most cylinders. we ran through th emiddle ( eventually) but at times made silly mistakes with options. At times we did our best to lose this game...til we remembered to win it. ( those there will understand what i mean ) . Something else that i recall was you dare not give these boys an inch...they will punish you. They are kicking goals...we arent.. ( lowest in league )...they are going for six on the trot...we havent started They think we're soft...and quite frankly we are at the moment. Macca ought to bring back some serious mettle and Robbo some fire power. we'll need 120 mins plus of effort.. anything less and the shinboners will make us pay. Other than the doggies probably the most winnable game thus far. The most important element to me is we need to hit running targets...or we lose. Go Dees

So we stick to our guns and cut off nose to spite face...by not 'revising' said plans. not 100% of this as relevent ..but thoguht it an interesting observation by a mate ( who's been many years in the ADF ) He too is suffering the pain and was asking me why our beloved Dees are cactus at present. his gem was noting that inthe forces you can have competent men/women who may fail to respond/perform if they suspect/know that the person in charge isnt quite up to the job. People start mentally second guessing orders etc. hey still do what is told ( they have to ) but there's that niggle in the back of your mind .."is this really a good idea ?" etc. they try to avoid it in the forces lol... people get killed apparently...in footy you just get smashed !!

yep...but i suppose until we know what the money incentives etc are we are only fumbling in the dark :-) I am scratching my head thinkng of what exactly this NEW VFL would look like... there'd be a few teams ? ( if all vic based afl suddenly fielded 2nds) are the existing VFL teams going to cry foul ?

its a curly one for sure. on a number of fronts there are distinct advantages to continue as is, all the infrastructure is there, it is a winning environment and i suspect tis is the cheaper scenario rather than field our own team. However there are times when we could argue players arent getting time in the positions we woulld like to see them grow in. it may come down to a dollar decision.

Something i think that must come into play is the psyche of the players. Yes they probably go out to win, to try but having all but forgotten the taste of victory you can be forgiven for going out without real conviction that you might really win. when youre on the high of consecutive wins...things just happen so much easier.. you dont feel like youre draggig that monkey around all the time. when youre hot...you 'expect' things to happen as a result of effort....when youre not... that element of lingering doubt has a habit of following you around all day. You can almost tatse the 'doubt' about the club...harsh but real.

youd be very much on the mark there for the most part. Much easier to assign 'outcomes' to anything that happens in Baseball as only so much can actually happen now...who's on first ???

How enlightening...lol.. who would evre have thought that you win games by getting the ball out of the middle and advancing it to your goal !! its like a sporting epithany !! and yet its not..its just common bloody sense which someone has sieved from all the cr@p. Collingwood went for years by sharking the oppos rucks...becuase the didnt realy have one thmeselves. now lets apply some context to the findings ( which Im not arguing with btw ) . Bounces are positive..tackles not so much ?..well one surely goes with the other. if you allow the opposition to go forward by bouncing because you ARENT tackling..thensurely some similar ( but negative value ) is apoortioned to a non-tackle. On this basis I would still highly rate tackling. Of course what isnt illuminted is the type and occasion of the tackle. Some tackles cause turn overs, others result in a ball up. Al lthis reminds me a lot of card counting...i.e assigning either a positve or a negative value to an outcome..and seeing what the current number is at any point of the game. Football at the end of the day is not ally a complicated game. You aspire to have control ( possession ) of the ball to move it forward in a meaningful and guarded way until you are in a position to score at maximum advantage. The article does however reveal some facets which often get over ananlysed. Tis better to recieve than to give !! and all paths must lead to goal. As a n aside just watched a program that explained how despite the US winning all battles in Vietnam...they lost the war..High tech and complicated lost out to simple endeavor with passion. Simple = kicking skills, marking skills and effective decision making. add to that playing with purpose.. all of which we dont possess ( individuals maybe..not as a team )...its quite simple really isnt it. those having a go at Sautner might want to remember what the role of a FF is..its to kick goals, as many as possible and consistently. To kick them under pressure and to do this week in week out. when we do this at Melb..maybe we can throw bricks !! lol if part of his style is to suck the defenders into giving away frees..well thats just part of it..good for him.

we've only heard snippets... they've all been rather well delivered and contained by the club. Quite well handled it would seem. There is always more to these things.. Im not privvy..are you? This is nothing overnight,simply something thats come to a head. MFC seems a little better at keeping some of its laundry in-club compared to others.

There's more to all this than meets the eye I would summise. We, again I say, see only the public sanitized version. That which is going on behind the doors may be something entirely different. Somehow you can just sense the next announcement in about a fortnight...an agreement to part ways and the best of luck etc. Pure speculation I grant you, but its got all the trappings of it. Whilst I d happily have him play on fit he hardly makes the grade as leadership...well does he !!

there is a difference also between so called stability..and STAGNATION . Stability in business is good and we are getting there. But the 'stability' of the team can go somewhere else for mine. I'd prefere a little unsettling and lifting up personally. id happily have taken 4 cups in those years. O'Donnell as I understand is looking to go into football admin etc...not to coach..he's not on the list. I was about to say that the scope and amount of experience that Sheeds has cant be bought. But of course it could be..pay him!!

I rate Mathews too...very highly..always have...mongrel player..good coach. I rate Sheeds also....and would rate him far ahead of the Lyons or the Voss's of this world...at present.. his runs are on the board. Essendon hasnt always been so cushy either !!
