  1. well including the nab fiasco and some practice games..thats either 4 or 5 games depending on what you actually call a game, that we have persisted with this you beaut bumble and fumble game style, with very little to show for it. Is it too early to suggest the fat lady is warming up her bell tolling skills ?
  2. well its got me stuffed what Oozy actually has to do ( or NOT !! ) to be dropped...he better do something to repay Danners faith...as many of us Im sure have none left for him. If the Sainters are to run rampant it will be straight through our Half backs... Miller at CHB must have Lyon smiling !! It wont matter who is on our backline then.. not as confident as Id like to be... go Dees
  3. it al really shows that the AFL are really "serious" about drugs.. they seem happy enough to allow it surrepticiously...throw lip service at it.. As they seem so concerned about inferences of collusion to pervert the outcomes of games...aka 5 dollar bets on self...then the only way to put everyone on an even footing is to adopt the same efforts as athletics etc.. ..random dope tests at games. otherwise surely drugs are impacting results , even adversely more than any penny enny bet might. I think its marvellous that Ben is geting the help he so obviously needs....However its a profession apparently..and he ought to accept all that means.. There arent to many work environements where drug use is tolerated. Cant help but feel he's brought it all on himself ..poor diddums !!
  4. a question to those better informed... Am not for one moment suggesting Cousins is indeed guilty of drug offences, thats for courts and such to decide. What is the AFL's stance regarding penalties for drug offences of the nature suggested ( but not substantiated to date ) to have happend in the Cousins instance.....i.e should a player test postive for substances such as Meth Amphetamines etc. does the three strike ideology still apply..and what happens at the third strike ? Surely something of this nature must bring the game into disrepute. The AFL seem remarkably ( if not typically ) quiet on all fronts On a personal front transgressors should be encouraged to and assisted in getting help. On a professional footing, dismissal is the only outcome, zero tolerance.
  5. http://www.realfooty.theage.com.au/realfoo...3722755480.html Well good on Gardner and Co going lateral. funny wonder where we've seen this idea raised before ? :-) Hope it pays off
  6. concur... damn shame for Thommo... poor bloke.. first nomination for basketcase team for 2007..... Roos !! unfortunately.....dont mind the shinboners.
  7. pretty well on the money.... nothing most of us havent been espousing for yonks.. its very must Dee or die ..for about half a dozen players and a coach !! go DEES !! :-)) its all possible... but will it ?
  8. funny how you can have a rest and a wake up at the same time !! lol...both deserved
  9. you may or may not have read by now that the prinma national Aussie netball comp will be disbanded in favour of a trans tasman comp with 5 teams apiece from Oz and Kiwiland. basically one per main state http://www.theage.com.au/news/sport/game-e...3548111934.html so what now of our clever alliance with the Phoneix ?? do we make a run for the new team whatever that is ?? all in all it was a sound idea...hope it can rise again like...dare I say....a Phoenix !!
  10. gee..its started early this year..... Miller.. Physically capable.. Miller... mentally not there. ....and by that I mean ...not that he's a fool or anything..he's not.. but he seriously doesnt have the mettle to back himself in the role of CHF... he always places himslef where he doesnt need to kick..or go for goal.. I really think he just doesnt like it. On the few abberant days he has..he has shown a whole different side...a good side . But it just vanishes and the bad ol' Miller style creeps back. You CANNOT have someone up the front half of the ship who is goal shy!!... other teams know he is..and allow him to move away from the goals..after all what damage does he do then??...instead of linking e actually adds another kick into the equation and its often that one kick too many, time for a flood etc. He costs us !!
  11. cheers Old.. good to see the boys notch one up :-)
  12. old man...and anyone else how much of the DEMONstration is the result of first use out of the centre.. by that i mean I take it Jeff and Co are doing well ??.. Can shed any light on whthter he's changed his tchnique any ?? cheers go Dees
  13. am looking forward to hearing ( or reading ) a report from someone who actually saw the game. Anyone would think we just lost the prelim by the way some are carying on. It was just a practice game. Many of our real movers and groovers were not playing. if this was say round 7 and was showing to be apttern...well i'd be less than heartened but in the great scheme of things this game matters not one iota. Roll on game 1...now that one matters !! happy winning dreaming you all :-)
  14. deep breath everyone.... ITS ONLY PRACTICE !! lol remember what practice means....to try things..to practice them. Ok some ideas may well be duds today, thats all. A few get blooded, some get more game time... but honestly...I am as quick to blast a crap performanc but thats not what these are all about . go DEES
  15. ahhh...only a practice game !! Danners will be trialling a couple of lads.. seeing how a few 'plays ' work...or dont... He'll be seeing if some have still got nigglies and wheter a few paper matchups pan out to the green. A win is better than a loss...but its nothign to get too worked up on :-) go Dees
  16. how strong a team are the blackbirds fielding ?? who of their lot of note is missing ...if any...cheers go Dees
  17. rhino...i thoroughly understand that point.... However they didnt...they simply placed bets as we all can. Betting on yourself is hardly conflicting. I do agree that they shouldnt as it may 'appear' a conflict. The point i was making is that in itself isnt ILLEGAL.. many things others have done IS !! The AFL has a strange pecking order.
  18. curious isnt it.. From an AFL standpoint you are apparently able to get away with illegal acts...or leaving scenes of crimes. Bringing game into dispute is almost a sport. .... you would almost be forgiven for thinking that drink driving is a prerequisite for some players and apparently drug taking is the too hard basket but doing something which is perfectly legal for 'anyone'..i.e .. placing a bet is a big No-No !! Unless I missed something there was no accusation on impropriety. well done AFL.....you have simplified the message to the public...you really are a bunch of buffoons !!
  19. ahh didnt take long did it.. the thorny Miller debate.. all those for line up on the Left....all those against ....on the Right people...we are never going to see settlement on this are we really ?? A player that promised so much, effectively has delivered little. And no matter which side of the fence you sit on thats the essential truth of the matter. The reasons why, almost matter not.. Footy isnt a charity, you have to have merit and represent some form of effectiveness to be considered part of the line up. You have to add to the team , not be carried by it. In its simplicity the forwards add to the scoreboard, the backs stop the other side doing same. Can Miller perform either job well ?? Lets forget all the reason, excuses...extenuating circumstances, postion of the moon and state of the weather and just look at it quietly and simply. What does he do for the team? For mine...not a lot. Miller time ?? me thinks the beer's gone flat!!
  20. yes I'l lI'll do a me too...that is..its a wonderful development. Probably one of the benefits , aside from all things financial is that of perception. Despite we all knowing there was a decent supporter base for the good ol Dees it s been perceived by many for a long time that we were also rans in this dept, cellar dwellars. I think it wil become very healthy for the club to be able to strut the stage as it were and tell the world..look..Melbournes a good team, looka t allits supporters. This can only encourage others to fillow suit, to take up the Demon cause that is. Im very glad that after all this time a reasonable and fair deal has been struck.Well done MFC,MCC,AFL Our true representationwill now be seen. go Dees
  21. toughness is irrelevent and wasted if you are unable to actually do anything constructive with it !!
  22. Surprises me he hasnt been cited before for some silly plays.. many will of course disagree but or a talented bloke he commits many lazy cheap shots at opposition players. He doesnt need to. This has always niggled me about this guy.
  23. something i was wondering about was the sharpness at the sticks ? sometimes hard to tell in these sort of games but some observers may have got a feel for how good the use of opportunities was. anything encouraging.or a bit scrappy?
  24. lol...that really ought not be as funny as it is..pmsl!! Go dees...I means GO DEES !! :-)
