Whilst I acknowledge TV is very much the driving force much still needs to be given to the ability to get bums on seats. Attendences is still very much what drives this game. To abandon in such a wholesale manner the tradition of the game seems to me a little too hasty. Note Im not suggesting all games on Sat...but come on..some, surely !!!

It strikes me though as a little odd given how much the club has sought to reemphasize the heritage angle and such that we won't have any Sat arvo games in Melb . Surely the Club was born and built out of the G on saturate afternoons !! We've brought back the demon, the collies, even the collar. Hopefully next season we can have a few ST arvo games. That would be VERY Melbourne.

Bobby .. If as you assert Cuddles didn't show Cam the love then why the charade at seasons end ? Do you contend it really was indignity towards Junior (and I'll contend by that to himself also) at the end that caused him to walk ? Would you have that Bruce( if possible in the proxy of Nixon) was not already of the mind to leave the club mid season ? Do you think he was hard done by ? Do you think he (CB) would / ought to be playing 2012/2013 , if fit, for the Dees ?

This is all very grubby. Are we to suppose this girl was perhaps all of 16 when it took place ? My Gilbert has impeccable taste and morals . If Saints ver true why were they posing and why did Sam want said pictures on HIS 'puter ? All terribly suss. If she is even halfway right then there's some big fibbing going on in this attempted cover up (sic). As Jaded has already pointed out this girl has issues . She also has an agenda. I suspect not all the truth has been outer here. Am mildly curious if as NR says Sam took them then how'd she come by them? If she has pics of others, again how has she got them? If any Melb boys are in the frame then quite frankly they're just as bloody stupid.If !! I'll preface this as conjecture and opinion; after all it's a forum !! Things often seem and appear differently depending on ones viewpoint and perspective. Same occurrence results in differing accounts , just ask witnesses ! Cuddles may well have had a difference with Bruce. Good on him, he runs football at the Mfc not Bruce. I suspect Cam has allowed his remunerations to cloud his worth and position in a team rebirthing and moving upwards. Old Bulls often get their noses out of joint and egos trodden on when new beef enters the paddock. For all I know possibly some home truths were aired. Quite possibly a two way discussion. Bruce then has the option as is his right to take bat and ball elsewhere. Bruce is part of a legacy left to Bailey and Co. Those that either aren't past used by or still very capable and RELEVANT to the Dees of 2011 forward have gone. I note it's the Nixon/Bruce camp that are constantly changing tunes and rewriting their version of events and not the club. I have an inkling CB might have just thought he was a bit of an auto fixture and was on the receiving end of a mighty wake up . That anyone might have done ok or not at a club whilst performing weekly mediocrity languishing on bottom ought not cloud too much the real positions when the gloves come off and we're fair dinkum. What we do know is despite talking forward security he's left for less money and no guarantee of any more longevity. What we also know is that in contrast to theatrical hystrioics regarding Juniors handling Bruce was making overtures to Hawthorn at or around mid season. Golly, someone came over a little abrasive. Who knows may e he was that day and does a swallow make a summer? Hardly a fair sampling to judge a person.. Inmmy handful of meetings/acquaintings with Connolly he's always seemed quite friendly and jovial. Just my observation , others may receive people differently. It really doesn't matter. Bruce has left. I really couldn't care less. I care far more that as a club we're prepared to make some hard and to some unpalatable decisions. Looking back over the last few years there's hardly a one which has been shown to be wrong. Still, no one or any group invariably get it all right. Maybe we can revisit this in a year or two and wonder what all the fuss was about. I wish Bruce well in his personal life , as would I most people . On tbe footy field however I fervently hope hope he and his lot are comprehensively smashed by a rampaging Melbourne making his excursion with Guerra seem like a picnic. Something many have seemingly forgotten, sidestepped or otherwise is that Cam for the most part was a product of the Daniher era. The Reverend without argument had his favorites , his core for whom other than irrefutable injury meant an auto start. Cam was one of them. The Bailey era knows no such prejudice. Well certainly looks to be requiring the players to earn their spot. The Bailey team doesnt have/didn't have any particular soft spots come selection . Cam is without argument fit. But he's not hard. Quite tough but he gets knocked and susceptible to being 'heavied' . Baileys boys( as was indeed his own style) will take no prisoners now. Bruce had to know his time as upper echelon would now be numbered. Hardier more durable bodies coming through. Days are numbered. Dees premiership window : 2012 /13 onwards - doesn't suit Bruce as realizes he might be injured or no even selected as early as 2012. Another team , who had shown some positive ( if perplexed) interest is possibly ( in Cams view but not mine) still with window open. So in this vein Cam and manager start a move out of one camp to the other. As more unfolds it really is as simple as Bruce, Nixon and Hfc being complicity in huge spin and prefabrication of events and timelines . their stories keep changing regarding tbe why's and how's. On other hand Mfcs version hasn't budged. So I ask you, who been telling, and still telling porkies. What respect I ever had for him has gone. Compare his actions to Juniors or Neetas or poignantly to Millers and Bruce is simply shallow. and ungrateful. I'm sure one day he will rue his decision.

Having to take a pay cut is more reflective of the windfall he previously enjoyed rather than a demotion of remunerational levy. I will credit him with enough nouse to realize his autoselection days at the Dees were nearing an end. Too much talent coming through . To put it simply he's scarpered !! The Hawks have nowhere near our body of reserves coming on and have gone shopping for "window" replacements, ironically from Melbourne. Because it doesn't suit the fawning love affair postulations put forward by the "Bruce was cruelled brigade" they overlook the potanginist in all this; Bruce. He started the ball rolling by putting out feelers mid season. And he got bites. Bruce has a history of playing the Prima-Donna card come contract time but this time he met a different team of negotiators, a band of folk who won't stand for his little games. Let's make this easy to understand. We don't need Bruce. Had he stayed he might have been handy for a year . He was never figuring in our premiership plans and he knew it. The desire to be a D stopped the minute he understood his new position. He hasn't gone for money, he's on less. He hast gone for job longevity, he's still on a year. He's gone in search of a flag, simple. And he still won't get one. He bluffed the wrong people this time... Lol Quite honestly I think he doth protest too much !!

Now I will preface this as pure hypothesy. Now I'll also confess to being one who thinks that whilst I don't subscribe to Bruce necessarily having tickets on himself I do think his opinion of his place is a little askew to that which history and reality might suggest. I have more than a sneaking suspicion it's all about a bent ego. Bruce was a senior at our club even captaining some games at times whilst never the official leader as was Junior . Is it too far a stretch to think that after James left he might have thought himself the natural successor. Then to have been dealt a serious reality check when informed by the club that not only would he not the annointed one but that with emerging talent chomping at his heels that even his team section was not as certain as previous (leaner) seasons. It's coming to pass that Bruces decision to leave really stemmed from a time long before the supposed contract impasse. Hawthorn verify it. I read, can't remember where that Cam was the I instigator of a move ( suggested to Hawthorn) . His mind seemed set prior to trade week but his actions stifled the occurrence of a civil trade. Strange also in a manner that HFC didn't attempt to instigate one( or might they have ?) Despite any posturing it's seems more and more of someone with nose out of joint , dummy spiti g and taking bat and ball elsewhre even if for less. What else can it be really ? Upon arriving at new home he continues the revision of facts in order to deflect any tarnishing of image. Again pandering to his ego. As more facts unfold they simply don't give credence to Bruce's version of events.

Something I noted listening to Bruce on that SEN podcast was a lack of any humility towards Melbourne . I have no qualms that he might bea bit excited about the Hawks and his joining of them etc. However I don't recall much if any thanks to the MFC for his career. Bruce strikes me as very Me-Me-Me. Now if you were of Ablett abilty you might overlook that but he clearly isn't. He's after a premiership and fair enough as much of footy is about that Holy Grail . I hope he never gets one. I'd rather Freo lifted the cup than the Hawks. They're a team of thuggery. Bruce will never be known for insightful decision making. I'm sure many a Dee follower winced and grimaced with the ball in Cams hands. God knows how some of his former team-mates felt at the time, nervous I'd suggest lol. He's made another poor decision in respect to the club. It might possibly extend his career by half a year but he'll now be known by many Demons as lacking real ticker. When the going got tough thetough get going, others wimper off to seemingly greener pastures. Melbourne now seem fairly astute at valuing players. Hale was only worth so-much. We get Campbell for a song , couple bags of twisties and the promise of mutual respect . Bruce feels hard done by... so do we; for quite a few years. Maybe no one told Bruce about Icarus! I don't hate Bruce as a person. In fact I have no particular emotion for him at all in that regard. I do how er despise his mongrel act of having previously held the club to ransom to then cow-tail it out of town when asked to ante up. Boot on other foot not his liming and then the temerity of calling the clubs morality to task ! Melbourne is forging a strong and determined persona. It's respectful of our heritage, our accomplishments, our creed and our future. Cam, you've stuffed up... Somewhat appropriate !! There's only ONE team I wish to win a premiership , whether it be 2011,2012 or any year and that's Melbourne. Bruce had deserted us and I for one wish him his just desserts, abject failure!

Just a simple observation : In an era when in all reality we sometimes struggled to get a decent (fit) side on the paddock, let alone an "a" team, Bruce was quite happy to strut his stuff and preen his wallet. The minute we fill the team with real talent and ask him to step up and back himself he high tails it feigning indignation. Words are words but actions define the person !!

Quite frankly I don't put much cred in much off what Bruce says. He changes his TAC mid sentence. He'll bend and spin to make out he's somehow hard done by.ffs he fleeced the club for years and then shirked it when asked to truly prove his rhetoric. Bailey was indeed contemptible. It was , and with dismay, in reaction to Bruces stance . Bailey didnt cause Bruce to go. Bruce caused Bruce to go. Exactly what leadership do we lose with Cam going ? Couldn't lead with a Jack of diamonds for mine. Much of what many of us have suspected for years but were berated on these boards for even intimating has now been validated. And the Poos won't be adding to the cupboard any time soon. Bruces intuition regarding clubs is about as good as his decision making on the pitch; wayward and poorly executed.

Bruce has always been more concerned about remunerations than most other things. The truth will out and it gradually is . Rpfc's summation is solidifying by the minute.!

I can't imagine for one moment that an accomplished ruck refunding form and fitness was selected so he can languish in the magoos ! Jamar can effectively rest forward whilst Campbell has a hit. I have no problems with mercenaries with the proviso they acknowledge that they are . All this reinvention of a putrid and tacky period of Melb -Bruce history is just pure and utter bullish!t ! And to think some wanted him captain !! Uuuurghhhh !! It'll be good playing the sqawkers; finally some Dees will get decent possessions through Cams inevitable coughing up of the pill !
