As an aside, I really hope Casey smash the Zebs and return the favour for the drubbing they received in Round 1. Should definitely be a spiteful encounter.

Adding further fuel to the flame, the past comments made publicly by Zebra senior players in the pre-season, namely captain Peter Summers, regarding the split in alignment of MFC/Sandy, could be described as rather 'unsavory', unprofessional and a real backhander. The Zeb's would have felt well happy with themselves after the round 1 result seemingly justifying earlier said comments, so i hope we can serve it right back now.

And now that Casey are in form and Sandy seem to have lost their way, they're a big chance to shove the comments right down Summers' throat in front of their home crowd.

Mark Blake omitted, and Brad Ottens will apparently be ready come finals time. Gotta feel for this bloke, he could miss another chance at a flag this year the way "Mummy" has come along.

I'd love to see us go close, hopefully final margin is within 2 goals of them. But realistically Geelong, with those in's, and despite not having Johnson or Bartel in, should pump us to the tune of 40+ points.

Was hoping to see some more youngsters brought in, namely Daniel Hughes, but after 2 on the trot, i'm not surprised the only change was a forced one.

Congratulations to Cameron on his magnificent 200-game achievement!

He's been a great servant to the club this past decade and I know I personally have appreciated the way he's gone about his footy from day 1. Probably not the most talented and never the hardest player around, yet a magnificent reader of the play and exceptionally versatile. Unfairly wore the brunt of our own great expectations of him being 'the next James Hird', some years ago. Those lofty expectations meant many supporters were very disappointed with the player Cam finally developed into. A good honest player, go-anywhere type, capable of great things on his day, but ultimately no superstar. Not to mention his disposal tapering off over the last few seasons, which even further intensified the criticism directed toward him.

To come from where he has (missing those drafts in the late 90's, and built like a rake), and play 200 games and win a b&f is testament to his outstanding work ethic and attitude. I do think he cops more than his fair share from many fans, but only because we all wanted him to become something he never was able to be... a superstar of elite status; not just another good footballer with questionable kicking.

I'm not surprised he has said they want to win and that he wants to stick around for as long as another 5 years. The club is on the rise, and he obviously wants a part of it. Who wouldn't? Unfortunately, Cam's probably not part of our future success; he must know this deep down inside, and that is sad for him. But sometimes it's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Nonetheless, congratulations must go to Cameron on a fine career to date.

Didn't rate Wheatley's game at the weekend at all. Just finished watching the replay on the AFL website, and it further confirmed what i felt on match day.

Too loose, not dangerous enough and lacked polish with his disposals, and most concerningly, just looked pedestrian. IMO he makes too many silly decisions for a player of his experience, and for someone with a massive weapon of a booming kick like he has, how many times does he actually use it? More often than not his disposal by foot consists of safe, short & wide kicks, or silly short-middle distance passes to 50/50 contests, and rarely does he use this weapon to the advantage of the team.

He's probably in the side to give himself one last chance to prove his worth to the list and earn a new contract for next year. List management, as some say. Will probably play every game for the remainder of the year, but IMO, if he keeps serving up that crap, it'll be goodbye Wheaters, thanks for the memories.

I'm one who has been very critical of Jamar in the past, but i'm pleased to say he's improved immensely and surpassed all my expectations. His work-rate is better than it's ever been, he seems to be moving more freely and is more mobile than he has been in previous years, and his competitiveness in his ruckwork is right up there with the best.

Improve his kicking, and he'll become a very dangerous prospect. At the moment, it's the only criticism of him that remains in my mind, as his propensity to handball at all costs is very predictable (he'll look to handball, even when he's alone in space), and his complete lack of confidence in front of goal is not up to AFL standard.

He's certainly come a long way since being nicknamed 'doughnuts' all those years ago though. I must admit i never thought he'd be able to get up around 20 disposals in a match, ever, so it's definite testament to his improvement in work-rate.

Jamar is a beautiful kick. But not a beautiful kick for goal. Get someone on the goal line saying "Kick it to me Jamar", and he will nail it.

I've been telling people for a long time about his potential, always being laughed at, I'm glad its starting to pay off now.

His 1%ers are right up there with anyone at our club, always puts his body on the line, and I beleive he is setting a great example with his contested possesions, shepards, tackles etc.

I`ve always thought Dunn`s been good enough to play at the top level his strength, courage and marking ability can not be questioned.

I don't agree with this at all.

Over the last 3 years, his courage and marking ability has definitely been questionable.

If it weren't, then why is he not used as a key position forward? Marking and courage in pack situations has never been Dunn's strength. Seeing him back into a couple of packs today was great, and really warmed my heart. Obviously someone has got in his ear and told him what is expected if he wants to keep his career alive. An improvement in that area needed to be made, and i think he showed noticable improvement today. I hope he can continue to do that for the rest of the year, but as good as it was to see him do that today, it was just one game. He has a some way to go still...

I've not been a fan of Lynden (see above post ^), at least not since his early games. Too many times over the last 2-3 years, i've seen him 'squib' marking contests and look like he 'hears footsteps'. Today he went a long way to winning me back as a supporter. Still not entirely convinced, but have reconsidered the line I put thru his name many many weeks ago.

His courage in the air in pack situations could not be questioned today, and the way he went about his job on Cornes, while still finding the ball, was much improved on his stopping jobs of last season.

He's a superstar at VFL level, if he can continue to close the gap between his VFL and AFL form, he will be a good league player. Needs to continue on his form (and courage shown) from today though.

Assuming WC win more than 4 and finish above us, then we'll get picks 1 and 3.

Should WC also finish with 4 wins (and still finish above us), then we'll get picks 1 & 4 (WCE will get picks 2 & 5).

Should we finish with 4 wins and above WC, then we'll get 2 & 5 (WC will get 1 & 4).

Whoever finishes 16th (Freo likely at this stage), will get the first pick of the 1st round. If Melbourne and WC both qualify for PP, then that pick will be #3.

Deep in the last quarter, cheering on the goals, resigned to the fact we're going to win. And when the siren sounds, we all sing the song and "celebrate". Yet something's amiss. Somehow feeling like we've lost, because we outplayed our opposition.

I hate the PP system.

It'll take a massive effort from here, but i reckon we can somehow manage just 1 more win (v Freo) this year. Not so sure as i was 2 weeks ago, but it can definitely still happen. Fingers crossed.

P.S. How $hit were Port? That performance was as disgraceful as any of our losses this year in the context of things. Unlikely now, but if they actually do make the finals, they'll be the worst top 8 side i've seen for a long time.

But seriously, if we do win more than 4, it had better be at least 7 or 8 wins to be worthwhile in a developmental sense. Finishing on 5 or 6 would just be a disaster on so many levels.

He may be contracted, but i'm not sure he's 100% safe for 2010 IMHO.

I thought Moloney's ball use today was exceptionally clean, and he always picks the right option. No longer blazes away like Moloney circa 2004-2007. Might have missed them, but i don't recall him making many mistakes at all.

Actually Watts already looks as if there is some body development taking place ; the same certainly can't be said for Morton whose body shape looks to be regressing

Agree with that. Watt's body looks like it'll fill out into an imposing build eventually. Morton, on the other hand, doesn't look like he'll add much weight. He will get stronger, but it won't be noticable on appearance alone (a lot like Dustin Fletcher, who's still built like a skinny 18 yo).

His body is already looking like it's getting bigger and harder. He is an 18 year old school boy in his first season, and he is starting exactly the same way Nick Reiwolt did; playing up the ground on the wing and flanks. He is at 196cms and 86kgs atm apparently, over the next 2 preseasons I'd wager he'll bulk up another 10kgs to 96kgs, and be an athletic hard working marking forward exactly like Nick Reiwoldt. I'm predicting this year and next will be learning years as he continues to gain more experience and put on more size, but 2011 he will stamp himself on the competition. Watts is an athletic, agile big man, and will wind up a mobile CHF, but what we also need is a big FF to compliment him.
