C&B in the MCC it will inevitably be "Jordie Mckenzie" or "Number 13" for the first half of the year.

Spoke to a mate in recruiting. His opinion: Oliver Wouldn't have made it past 5 Will likely be an exceptional talent (better than Wines) The dees will have an amazing inside midfield in the next few years. Weideman needs time to get his body right. King and to a lesser extent Huwlet - Speculative Wagner, skilled but slow

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM WEIDEMAN
Spoke to a colleague at work who is good mates with a guy within the coaching/management team at Eastern Ranges and his mate had seen Tom Boyd and Jon Patton come through and thought that Sam Weideman was easily the best talent of the 3 and that once over the injuries would be an absolute gun.

I think he will be an absolute star if he can have some luck with his body.

Tend to agree C&B if it does go Oliver and Weideman you'd have to suggest that there was a leak somewhere, or they've all guessed correctly which is very unlikely. It would be funny now if they were all completely wrong. Would just go to show once and for all that they are all just guessing.

My only issue with us selecting Clayton Oliver, is that I'll forever wonder if his parents mucked up filling in the birth registry paperwork and that his name should really be Oliver Clayton.

You say it would be a terrible pick at 3 yet in your prediction you think he could go the next live pick to Essendon at 4. So he is a terrible pick at 3 yet a likely good enough to be picked at 4. If he gets through the session today I'd take him at 3. When fit he looks a sensational prospect. Watch his highlights video, he moves a lot like Pavlich. 12 marks against big bodies in the AIS v Bullants game. He can play. I like Parish too but I think it's simplistic to say Weideman's a terrible pick at 3. How many guns have slipped down the draft because of injuries? Judd, Selwood, Darling, I'm sure there are many more. If we want another competitive dominant key forward he is it. Curnow is not. I don't want to regret this draft, I don't want this to be a Fiora pick over a Pavlich pick.

Good pick up DD. Apologies for the confusion.

I see Cal Twomey has just tweeted that he thinks it's more unlikely than likely that we'll take Parish. Grain - Salt

I spoke to a family member of a current player yesterday and he said it was expected that they would take Parish at 3. Whether he was speculating or had heard from inside the club I couldn't be sure. Anyway thought I'd pass it on.

The new highlights package is pretty bloody impressive.

Looks and moves a lot like pre Carlton Daisy Thomas IMO

If Weideman, Francis and Curnow are gone we simply take the next best talent available. I don't want us to take the next best tall simply because we want a tall. Of course that's assuming that those 3 are rated within the top 7.

I see in one of the papers this morning he's been likened to Joel Selwood, albeit from someone out of the Geelong Falcons.

Could the plan be for the club to go to the draft with only 1 live pick (i.e. 6) with a few late picks to upgrade VDB and Harmes? If that's the case what does it matter that we've given up pick 25. The draft is reportedly very week after 20 odd, so maybe we don't bother with a pick after 6. Just a thought.

It's funny that Dodoro said it's for pick 25 and JM said that it would be a second rounder and that 25 would be around the mark. I expect this will take till next week now. We'll be trying to get a pick closer to 30 to trade to the Bombers. Good planning by the club if that's what's happening.
