    can't see the logic

melksham is a link man, brown is stay at home leading key position forward

if you want brown it's fritta, tmac or jacko.......and can't see it happening

I didn’t really provide any reasons so I can understand that you couldn’t see them!

Brown is A grade when up and running. He has had 2.5 VFL games and played very well, including presenting up the ground. There is no chance of dropping Fritsch, Tmac or Jackson on current form. Fritsch is not a tall though and I think we have room for another. Now that Brown is ready it’s also time to test what could be our best forward setup.

Much like Jetta being dropped for Hibberd, whoever makes way for Brown will be unlucky but it will improve the team.

Melksham is easily our lightest contributor in recent weeks IMO. Spargo was also weak last week but has been better prior to that. Jones isn’t going to be dropped straight after his 300. Melk played fwd/mid. Only two score involvements (nibbler/Pickett 7, Spargo 1), 2 tackles/13 pressure acts (spargo 3/12, Pickett 5/21, Nibbler 4/26). We aren’t losing much.

Nibbler, Pickett plus one of Melk or Spargo will provide the forward half pressure. TMac, Fritsch and Jackson are capable of pushing up towards the wing/high half forward. We can make room whilst maintaining excellent forward pressure.

Why do people still rate the Cats? Struggled at home against north!

WC choked against the Saints but it won’t happen again. Can’t believe Cats are clear favs. I’ll be loading up on the weagles

    Injuries at WCE is why

Watching the start of the Richmond/Saints game makes me think we need to have the height of Petty in the game this week to settle him into the structure for next week.

Similarly I think Hibberd needs to come in as he may be the Dusty match-up

I too am loving the apparent synergy between Langdon and Hunt. I’m of the opinion that Langdon, in no small part, is responsible for Hunt’s turnaround in form.  Maybe an early call, but I haven’t seen a pairing like that since Cameron Bruce and Brad Green helped take us to a GF in 2000.

Those two are good mates. Definitely helping them enjoy their footy

I've been a critic of one aspect of Oliver's game: lack of impact.  Well, he certainly turned that around last night!  He found space, had almost as many kicks as he did handballs (17/22), many of his kicks were sharp and went deep into the fwd line.  I don't know where to get 'metres gained' stats but I would expect it to be very high, perhaps the highest he has achieved.

It is close to his best ever game:  a very balanced game played at an exceptionally high level with significant impact.

Hope the Brownlow casting umpires take note.  He doesn't get enough love from them.

Metres gained is available on the AFL website (select advanced stats). He was 6th with 520m. Definitely above his usual

  7. We have a huge chance this week to push for a home final. Looks like Meg Downie has now played two ressies games so she should be the replacement for Goldy (who will be a loss for sure but Downie is a handy replacement).

Brisbane are a good side but definitely beatable on our current form and at home.

We put all our eggs in thr Isaac Smith basket and the moment we missed out, we simply had no plan B. It was well documented that Phillips was being shopped in the open market and every footy journo and media outlet said that it was the perfect fit for us. And it would have been.

The arrogance in this football continues to amaze me.

Whilst I was hoping we'd go after Phillips, I suspect it was a salary cap management decision. He would come cheap from a picks perspective but his existing contract may not have been as attractive (with Petracca, Oliver and others coming up for re-contracting).

They are very reliant on their senior core. Apparently Goldstein and Cunnington didn’t play? Saints had plenty out too but it affects weaker teams much more. I doubt they are that (Neeld) bad

Actually pretty much north’s entire first choice midfield was out

North won't have much competition for the spoon you wouldn't think. Neeld-like years coming up for them
