Anyone for cricket?
Why is a profesional Cricketer any different to a high end business position, as far as performance goes?? I do not have a fixation on $$$, it is just the reality. If somebody in any business is on top coin then they have to perform-simple. That includes M Hussey, Ponting & Clarke. I fully understand how harsh cricket can be to compared other sports, but that is why these guys are paid Top Coin. Saying that Michael Clarke should not play Club Cricket is a dumb idea, is your opinion-it doesn't make it a dumb idea. M Clarke may have thought for him it was the best idea. Whenever a person is stale of ideas, it is always best to do something radically different to get the adrenalin pumping again. You Rhino just do not wish to agree with my opinions as you are far more conservative (which is your right, & sometimes i do agree with what you say) but certainly not always. Personally i would have backed Clarke on saturday, sure he may have gone out cheaply-but that's the risk. He also might have made 85-90 come sunday if he had had that club hit out....we shall never know.

I would give M Clarke a 6.5/7 out of 10 yesterday He really wanted to succeed you could tell, And contrary to what many say on here i do not wish him to fail as either a Batsmen or Captain, He is not my first choice for the ODI side or as it's captain, as i think he is a Test Player. But he has been given the job, and let's not forget he has accepted that job, probably signed a new Contract. So he must find form before the world cup. Yesterday was a great start, but the shot he went out on was a real Barry Crocker, but he did top score, and there are 2 more games to go. There are only 2 tournaments worth winning. The Ashes & The World Cup, If Clarke has accepted the Captaincy then he has got to bat well up the order for a good portion of 50 overs RR talks of Voodoo Dolls & Axes, not me-But it is time for Clarke to stand up, he is getting top $$$$ Brett Lee is a major key to any world cup success, if his old body keeps together we could win games. Oh and BTW interesting that M Clarke himself requested to play CLUB CRICKET last saturday but was turned down by those weak selectors, who would have never slept again if he had failed!!!! It was a great idea M Clarke, and i give you respect. Sometimes you gotta think outside the Square. If Clarke was not Captain right now, it is a tough one, but it would have to be Watson or Cam White.

What are you talking about??? Michael Clarke has got 3 games to go before the World Cup to find some form...Form that has alluded him for months ok. That is the situation. I don't Think he should be Captain or picked in the one day side-But the reality is that he is in the side. So i want him to earn his spot, just like the rest of the team So he better find that Form Quick. This is the World Cup, something that should have been building since 2007. I don't think Clarke is a natural one day Player. The Selectors do, so they better be right. Like i said 3 games to find Form. I am not putting the Axe into anyone, Clarke is very well paid, so it's time to perform...3-2-1.

Anyone for cricket?
Hilditch will only leave kicking and screaming, that's obvious. 3 Ashes losses and he still says "The Selectors have done a fine job"....It is entertaining though, i will give it that. B)

Anyone for cricket?
Top level Cricket aint doing Clarke any good at the moment....sorry but i have been watching these one dayers. He needs to go back to basics right now.
-
Anyone for cricket?
Like RR you are to literal...its 3 games to find some form. The choice they have made had better be right one, that's all i hope. Right now Clarke looks a Mess with a bat in his hand.

Anyone for cricket?
Yes i know the "Doorstop" Interview and the Press conference very well, it's a shame that Hilditch & co do not. Yep i have had it in for the Part Time Chairman of selectors for quite a while, because i think he is not accountable. I want a full time passionate CoS please. Clarke out for 15 yesterday....3 more games to go....

Well said HT. Rick Charlesworth would be a great addition to Australian Cricket. I too have heard him speak a few times, if he has the passion for it. 2011 shall be interesting after the world cup-behind the scenes.

Anyone for cricket?
So given you and i have very limited inside info on the runnings of cricket apart from Media outlets, when the Chaiman of selectors (We know who he is..just) makes a statement after the Ashes loss (insert the Word Thrashing Here...) the "The Selectors had done a fine job" that doesn't bother you at all?? Responsibility was deflected. It bothered me, particularly because i saw it coming a long way back. No i am not saying i had all the answers, but i would expect the C.o.S. to show a little humility to the Australian Public, & then for him to not even know that M Hussey had undergome surgery when picking the team....Does he actually want the job or does he just like the title?

Anyone for cricket?
Self Promote?? No i just stand up to some one who is quite often bordering on "Out right Rude" which you often are Rhino, you attack the man -Line by line...Anyway, who said Tait and Hodge are competing for the same spot?? Gimme a Break. One should be in & one should not have even been considered-thats the closest that Tait & Hodge should be. You see by breaking down everybody's posts on here line by line you often read them far too literally, you do miss some of the finer points at times (awaits Barrage here....) My Validity is no better than anyone else on this site, that's whats great about it, so if you think i am trying to increase my Validity-Wrong, i mean who would care anyway?? I see things i hear things i read things and i form opinions, just like your good self & i shall continue to do it. The interesting point regarding the Australian XI and you RR, is that concerning Footballers you will quite often tear them down as finished, or washed up etc as all of us do at times, Fair enough, But when it comes to Cricket and Cricket Australia you are far more precious in so many areas. I find that very interesting. ND had favorites at Melbourne which worked for a while, but ultimately bought him & the club crashing down. I see that Happening at CA particularly under Ponting's captaincy, that is my main concern since our last Ashes win.

Yawn...You know nothing about my past Rhino or what i have been through, so tread carefully when you say things like that, and if you think your acid Keyboard wit is altering my opinions on the current state of cricket, it isn't. But feel free to keep typing, at least i know i am keeping you busy.... "Don't extend the Stupidity" i like that one. Well thought up. Is your verbal attack inspired to break my spirit regarding my thoughts on cricket??? Hodge's disposition as you put it just makes the selection policy more Mirky....Shaun Tait in the 15 squad Brad Hodge not in the 15 man squad...Astounding in my eyes.. Carry on & Remember "Don't Panic...."

And who actually says that you are so right RR. I disagree, Michael Clarke has always walked the red carpet, and as i said if he had come from Victoria would he have been given the same treatment?? Hussey did Clog the list during 2010 for about 20 innings, he was horribly out of form-Nobody should be finished if they are dropped, it is one of my strong gripes (Brad Hodge come to mind??) If a player regains form-then on goes the Baggy Green IMO I know a little about Mental Strength RR i can tell you, and there are many ways to deal with it. M Clarke has got to do it now, what's your problem?

Anyone for cricket?
Clarke should be given a chance to find form away from the spotlight. That is my problem with him at the moment. I have no dislike for Michael Clarke personally, I think he is a good solid cricketer, I do not think he is in the elite category, as many people do. And i will be very happy if and when he finds some form, i just think he has had a dream run over the years with the Baggy Green, compared to some other players. If Clarke was from Victoria i wonder if he would have been treated the same way?? His Batting last sunday was truly painful to watch & i don't want to be watching that in the world Cup, Greg Chappell may be thinking of his own bad trott when he says Clarke will keep captaining Australia-Fair Enough & Noble, but my problem with that is that in GS Chappell's time the media was there, but the Spotlight is far more intense today. There is no way Clarke can be sleeping well at the moment, and that just makes it worse. I am suggesting 4 day club Cricket only so he can go out & enjoy a good bat. I do get it AoB & it has nothing to do with Alan Border!!! (where did he come from??) You and i look at it from different angles Thanks for all your Mathematics btw Very interesting. Hussey in his own words said he was lucky to survive in the team last year, I would have dropped him, but that does not mean he could not have batted his way back into the side. For a time last year he was Clogging the List, but he got his shite back together, Good Luck to him. Does M Clarke have that same Mental strength with the added weight of the Captaincy on his shoulders to do the same as M Hussey??? I am not sure because its hard to guage how hard the Poms are playing at the moment. Last Sunday looked pretty close to rock bottom so he has got 4 games.

Anyone for cricket?
Sure i want M Hussey to earn his spot for the world cup. He has just ripped his Hammy of the bone. He is getting older, and i would want to be dead sure that he can bolt flat out from a standing start for a single. If he ticks all those boxes then he gets a game, if in fact somebody in the side deserves to be dropped.. Concerning your figures above, i would consider 5 innings from a batsmen of less than 20 to be a failure 40 is too high, So you can readjust all that work. M Clarke could do well to play club cricket for a while (I know he won't, but i disagree) he needs some 4 day games in him, but the marketeers would never allow it.

Anyone for cricket?
AoB i am not trying to convert anyone to my ideas, i am just stating my views on Cricket Australia & how i think the whole organization needs to be re vamped on many levels. If no one on here agrees i am not losing any sleep i assure you, although i have received the odd PM in support. If Mike Hussey recovers in time for the WC fine, but lets see him earn that spot back as he will not be match hardened-Michael Clarke should be playing for NSW right now to help regain his confidence, by making him ODI captain it just puts more pressure on him. His whole persona on the pitch yesterday batting was just sad, i felt sorry for him, he was trying too hard. Let him go back to State level or even club level & Bat again-A long innings. Recapture some footwork, at the moment it has all deserted him. I said it pages back and i stand by it. If any player fails in 5 consecutive matches i would drop them back to state level. For any newbie coming in i would give them 5 games to find form. Standard for anybody regardless of Cricket Australia Contract or Advertising/Marketing Contracts.

Anyone for cricket?
ok RR if you think all is sweet and nice with CA fine have your opinions, i shall keep mine. I would be more than happy to buy a cricket membership just as i do for the MFC. Maybe you need to widen your horizons a little....
-
Anyone for cricket?
Hilditch is just the start of the problem RR, i have always said that. Cricket Australia needs a full revamp I would like to see memberships sold to the public, so the entire organization is made more accountable, but i am tipping you will not agree to that.
-
Anyone for cricket?
Sorry RR i don't buy any of that. I have actually followed Nannes for a while and he deserves a bowl IMO. Tait bowls one over and then needs long service leave, i find it Comedic. Andrew Hilditch not a media performer, tell me something i do not know. The Chairman of selectors should be very Media Savvy thankyou. What is out of context with hilditch except himself?? Sorry if Rouge also mentioned Siddle as well, it's a fair call that he could be bowling, although today the Bowling was pretty good-Clarke is still continuing to impress us all, but i forgot he is the annointed captain....Carry on.
-
Anyone for cricket?
Siddle & Dirk Nannes maybe?? Hiditch's comments post ashes were far worse than "ill timed" (you a spin writer by trade at all?) His comments smacked off arrogance and disregard..."The selectors have done a fine job"....how can you ill time that? Clarke out for 9 (again) The limited over game is not for him...i wish certain people could see that.
-
Anyone for cricket?
Part time has got a lot to do with it, His comments post ashes have been quite Bizarre. Unaware that M Hussey was going in for surgery, did he watch the game where Hussey did the Hammy-i doubt it. Selecting Shaun Tait is another piece of comedy There are 2 reasons the Bloke is a liability-Stick to the court rooms Andrew, Cricket shall not miss you.
-
Anyone for cricket?
Well you are in the Hilditch Camp RR, his comments Post Test series have been rivetting. Hilditch is more interested in Legal work than as a selector, but his ego won't let him step down. He doesn't even read Press releases.

Anyone for cricket?
The last 2 weeks of Demonland have evaporated into the ether...thus my scathing essays on Andrew Hilditch and his band of yes men have gone-But he will not escape my wrath. Good to see that PILLOW Clarke failed again....I cannot wait for Cricket Australia to be exposed...

Prior may never play as well again on any tour, but on this one he nailed it. 6 catches on Boxing Day in front of 85,000 he won't forget that in a while. That is the best effort from an English keeper i have seen since A.P.E. Knott was there. That's all i was saying....
