  1. It never bothered Whorethorn or Jeelong and they go after top line players every year. Whorethorn lost Franklin and became a better side and won Back to Back Premierships. By next year there will be a mid season draft, so there will be more player traffic. If anything we need to be more aggressive at Trade Time (although we have been pretty good since 2014) Top line Players are that because they win games, we have often been too precious with players and if we are to win Multiple Flags, we must trade for what we need Whorethorn style, Target the player and get the job done, Lever was done this way precisely. I was impressed because I was told of the strategy by someone close to the inside during the bye week before the finals, weeks before it was a done deal.
  2. Got to keep upgrading the list every year. If Sloane is available, then we should be on the front foot, if we don’t land him, another club will. Midfielders get injured, they are in the guts and frenzy. Sloane would be great right now as Viney is out for a long time Never think static
  3. Wow. That is fairly damming towards AFL House
  4. Bernie doing us a great service..
  5. I can. They didn’t cut it. We will be a much better team now no more one armed tackles
  6. Negative Speculation, ??what’s negative about wanting “New” Members rather than just the rusted on resilient ones?? You are troll who just enjoys repeating yourself A good little Tiger ? Supporter is the Dr. Who... god only knows why he lurks in here...
  7. This club has always been 1 step forward and 2 steps back since 1965 Last year was a classic example of it
  8. Rubbish. If we had made finals last season we would be at least 5,000 more members right now than we are today...
  9. What are you talking about?? you contradict your own figures. For the MFC after 160 years to have only 36,000 members on its books is a sad situation. IF we had made the finals in 2017 and built some momentum we would have over 40,000 members now, before the ball is bounced in 2018 but the players choked and that momentum was lost.
  10. Miss the point completely again Dr. Who but you will take no notice
  11. Yes ‘82 there is a bit of that, but Finals are the real deal
  12. Yep. That is the way we all must look at it. The MFC needs to be a part of September, it’s when real stuff happens. It’s why other clubs have 70-80,000 members, they make Finals.
  13. We deserve what we get up till now This club has delivered nothing for decades, so the should be thankfull to have at least 35,000 at this stage. IF we can climb the ladder and stay up there, i have no doubt we can have 100,000 members in 10 years. Melbourne population is exploding. We must use our name to great advantage, but the players and coaches must drive this. It’s all about on field results
  14. Cool ? They must be seriously juicy documents The AFL won’t split from ASADA. Too much money ? from the Federal Reserve would dry up. Still so much we don’t know about Essendrug... line in the sand ASADA
  15. Expat Sports Bars are the only places (and they are great) but this bullsh!t about growing the game international is a joke. It gives the AFL a chance to fly on an international junket. That is all
  16. 50,000 this year if the players deliver what they should.
  17. Promoting AFL overseas makes the AFL feel big and important. But they would be better off getting clubs out of debt and improving all training facilities, so all clubs are on an even base when any recruits are drafted in.
  18. Agreed. But umpires have always been abused. It’s part of the game!!
  19. Absolutely 100% If AFLX is the long term future of the game, i will be glad to be Six Feet Under. The main problem with the AFL now is that they give the game no time to breath, 2-3 rule changes are enforced at the same time and we have to live with it. But the main modern rule that has changed the game the most, interchange rotations remains. It is still a “good” game, but when CHF’s and CHB’s went into battle for an afternoon, that was Aussie Rules as a highly original and tough game
  20. I have never questioned that the clubs are not a business now. Players get paid but the game of Australian Rules Football is not what it was, and i consider that a shame. It has always been popular to the extreme because of it’s differences. These differences should be promoted, not diluted The people who run the AFL are mere custodians of the game for a short while, are driven now to change the game yearly, so we have something that is vastly different to what it was AFLX will become a hybrid Soccer Competition, is that necessary? I say no
  21. What are you talking about? i think you are losing the plot mate. Your arguements are like Swiss Cheese Dr. Seriously i am not an old Kevin Bartlett, but i am looking at what the AFL has done and is doing to the game It is unrecognisable to what i watched 25-30 years ago The AFL are swimming in money, but most clubs are in debt. You keep telling us this is a good thing. In 1970 121,000 people rocked up to the Grand Final and you could hear the cheer squads face off at one another from Richmond Station. As a 7 year old i have never forgotten that noise Now it’s loud cheap music and betting ads that are so loud
