  1. "Neitz was critical of the way the club brought forward a review of the coaching position which ultimately prompted Daniher to quit as coach this week. He said Gardner should have stuck to the agreement he had publicly revealed earlier this year - that no decision on the coaching job would be made until the season was over"

Neitz clearly gets it and what he says has absolute truth, I am glad Neitz has spoken out you cannot publicly say one thing and do another (unless you are a politician). If we are playing next week the season is NOT over. Good on you Neita standing up for what you believe in and for what many of us do. No Jaded Neitz isnt a business man but I trust his football opinion over Gardiners and this decision involves football not our finances

Look i sympathize with Nieta and ND, but 2 goals to Half time against Richmond was unacceptable. The Damage done for the rest of the year could have been disasterous. But from here the new dawn begins. I believe even ND will agree in time

  2. Neita is a brilliant player and an inspirational captain, but a club president and a businessman he ain't.

If the players were so against Daniher leaving, then maybe they could have lead better, worked harder... you know, since apperantly injuries were no excuse for getting so badly beaten this year (so we've heard the players say)*.

I love Neita and I feel for him because the reality is, he's unlikely to walk away from the game with a flag.

But at the end of the day, having been there longer than anyone, he'd know very well that to move forward you sometimes have to make hard decisions.

There are positives and negatives in Daniher's early exist. A negative would the feelings of the players, a positive would be their ability to pay their respects and say a proper goodbye. Then of course there is the issue of the club having an extra 9 weeks to look for a new coach.

The positives far far outweigh the negatives, and Gardner is right, the situation would have become public sooner or later. Why lie when transparency is so much more dignified for all involved?!

*Note: I am NOT sticking the boot into Neita and our poor season is not his fault.

Correct on all accounts-its a tough world out there and decisions had to be made for the Betterment of the MFC-that's what Gardiner did

  3. A great move? Melbourne was still paying for him when he was at Collingwood. Woewodin would have been more value staying. Now hes going to waste. He is a put your head down get the football type player which Melbourne are missing. I'd rather have Woewodin over Travis Johnstone any day. I know he would give 110% and wouldn't side step. Daniel Bell is no way near the calibre of Woey. I can't see Daniel Bell being a Brownlow Medallist.

You don't trade players that perform. You trade players that are underperforming or want to leave or are near the end of there career. Thinking of trading Bruce is stupidity

If Woewodin had stayed on his inflated "Brownlow wage" We would have had to delist many players off our list to stay under the salary cap. There was no choice, after 2000 Many contracts were upped. Sadly woey was just too expensive, Lets not forgetr both his ordinary GF performances. In the heat iof battle when it counted Woey was just too slight in weight, got pushed aside. It was a business decision as was ND leaving. Had to be done

    The Club is always bigger

  4. Remember Ronald dale left Melbourne as an unknown and untried coach to Carlton-History Gives you the answers

Get Voss to Melbourne Now-and speak to Guy McKenna. Both these Players demanded Respect

  5. [The issue of knowledge is probably the only one that may hold him back. He clearly knows the game backwards, but the question is whether he knows the role well enough.

What are you talking about???? As the Captain of a triple Premiership Team His Knowledge is more than anyone around melbourne for many years. Enough said. Voss knows discipline and self control to climb the september mountain back to back to back-Get Him. Take the chance and this club may become the Force it once was-Feared by all

  6. Voss is a captain of a triple premiership side. That experience is invaluable. No text book or Power point presentation can beat that. GET VOSS or at least make sure he is seriously considered before going elsewhere

  7. Gardiner made the right Decision.

    A tough one but correct.

For the club to wait till the end of the season before making any coach changes would have harmed our sponsorship and Marketing opportunities dramatically. ND would be aware of this aswell. Neale made the right call as well. 2 goals to half time against Richmond was the last straw. For all his positives it proved Neale was no longer able to get the best out of the players, even though it was shown that the players did have his respect.

I have always been an ND fan but i saw problems after round 1. We looked Static and flat. ND as far as i am concerned will always be part of the Demon family but i hope we can get Michael Voss to coach us, but whoever the board elect i shall support as i know the search will be and should be exhaustive. Voss was the captain of a triple Premiership team-you cannot beat that as long as he is a good communicator. Guy Mckenna is also up there, I would hate Voss to coach Carlton-Those Bastards deserve Nothing!

  8. My tip

Daniher is gone - Connolly might be in although they'll wait until the end of the year (Brett Lovett as assistant) - Gary Lyon on the Board - Schwartz also to be more involved - some senior Melbourne influencers have had enough and Friday night was the last straw - very angry people apparently

I was one of them-This club has under achieved since 1965. Enough is enough. We carry the name of our city for christ sake

  9. Most of you seem too have forgotten Brad's effort in the Final last year against Fremantle. Small minds forget rather Quick. I think its great that Miller got 6 last week For Sandringham. I would keep him back there for a couple more. Work on his Marking and kicking-coz he knows where to lead. He just might get there, I havent forgotten that game last year

  10. The Long term Benefits of this alignment will be HUGE. Just wait till those new facilities are built. This may have saved the demons Long term and given them another chance at being a Power Club-Like "Big Kev" I'm Excitwd

  11. 1- wheatleys tackle in secord qtr ala belly last week

2- Ward smashing into Didak(toucher) between the posts also in second qtr

3- Syliva shrugging of would be tackler in last qtr

4- Greens mark(go you good thing)

Pettard playing Cool Hard Footy in front of 70,000. He is the deal

  12. How good will Jones be in the next couple of seasons? He has a bit of Brock Maclean about him in that he powers to the ball relentlessly. What is outstanding with his game now is his balance and ability to create for his team mates. This fella has the potential to be as good as Greg Wells. He has great endurance, strength, vision and is reasonably quick for his build. His disposal is good on both sides and he is a team player not an individual. I reckon he will soon be a long term leader of our club.

Let us hope the Jones Boy and Brock Mclean play together on the MCG for Many years to come. Far as I am Concerned rite now These two players are the only "Completely Untouchables" list-oh and Pettard. It is great to see no 15 belt down the members wing again. takes me back to my childhood with watching Stanley Alves

  13. That's just plain wrong, St.Kilda are in this position because of injuries, much like us.

I disagree-yes st.kilda have had injuries but not the key position players that we lost. a forward line with gherig riewoldt and kosi should still be kicking goals. There is trouble at mill at st.kilda. my bro is heavily involved with coteries down there and he was shakin his head last night. that club is in trouble

  14. Don't see your logic. Melbourne beat St Kilda in the first final last year and are now two games and percentage below them.

How does your argument work?

We lost 9 in a row because of early crippling injuries that then unbalanced the side completely. Look at Moloney who is now injured because of over work to compensate. We are in much better shape than st.kilda. Demons will win far more games than lose in the second half of season-That said i still believe every player is on notice, Perform or out-we must play tough

  15. Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm pumped about our first win tomorrow.

    It's an absolute certainty.

I know some will be in two minds with the heavy mid week snow dump luring you to the slopes, but tomorrow's win will leave you in a state of ecstasy sure to put you into rehab.

Fire up crew.... first win of 007 coming up.

    YES

  16. As I was driving to the game today, I was nearly in tears.

Not because I thought we'd lose, not because we're 0-9, not even because my car was making strange noises up Punt Road.

The reason why I was so devestated, was because on the radio, they were calling this club and us, the supporters, '[censored] weak'.

Except I'm not a [censored] weak supporter, I buy a membership every year, I go to every single game played in Victoria, and I bleed for and with this club. So why was I so upset? Because the moron who was saying all this stuff, was not entirely wrong.

Those supporters who call themselves supporters because they drive around with a Melbourne sticker on their car, or because they turn up to the Queen's Birthday match once a year, don't deserve to associate with those of us who care so deeply about this club, and who will do anything to see this club where to belongs, on top.

WE, while in the minority, are passionate. We ARE Melbourne, because we love this club even when they lose, even when they struggle, even when everyone is telling us that we are [censored] weak, and that nobody cares about our club.

Guess what, I care, and so do all the Melbourne supporters I know, and everyone who has come and gone and posted on this website.

We love this club, and if there are only a few thousands of us, so be it. Just please, please don't let the moron who was calling ME and YOU '[censored] weak', be right. He isn't.

And so, before I go and ban myself for swearing, let me say this... We are Melbourne, we are THE original and THE best and if we ever accept anything else, or let anyone make us think otherwise, we don't deserve to support this great club.

    GO MELBOURNE!!!

If the club gets tough then people cannot call us [censored] weak. it's that easy
  17. Under the current interpretation, it was a free kick............but Robert Walls makes a good point saying that for 15 years of Richos career, it wasn't, now all of a sudden this season it is.

Pathetic rule change............the increased involvement by the umpires in the game is seriously starting to turn me off AFL at the minute.

I was furious last night. i don't care what Kevin Bartlett says-This rule change stinks

  18. Let's not go throwing the baby out with the bathwater here!

The clubs management has been probably more productive and solution focussed than at any time I care to remember, so change isn't needed there.

I wouldn't go making the Kangaroos the model either............we were 90 seconds from rolling them today!

Football department needs reviewing no doubt.

90 seconds away is just not good enough. That's my point. I will use north as a guide, After Carey stuffed up i honestly thought that club would die, but they toughed it out. Would Melbourne have come through under the same circumstances???? I doubt it

  19. I have followed Melbourne since 1970- we have a chronic "Losing" culture that has to be addressed. I don't blame anyone but it cannot be avoided.

St.Kilda, Footscray and Geelong have the same problem. Everyone at the club has to be put on notice-I thought we could challenge for the flag in March!!!! Look at the train wreck that has followed.

The players have been giving there all-i can see that, but its not good enough. Why???? Is it our lack of training facilities, lack of "social club Home" all of the above

What Robbo said in the paper was correct-don't just blame ND Blame everyone-The whole club musst have a clean out. Look at the Kangaroos they have beeen on a shoestring but they will not lie down- we must find that Recipe or else we shall not survive. I am Sick and tired of accepting 2nd best

  20. M53

    Reserved seating

Biggest bunch of toffs I have ever come across. It was embarrassing to be a Melbourne supporter today. The fools in that section whinge and moan about anything. I almost blew my top when I stood up for 10 seconds to put my jumper on and some guy behind me told me to hurry up sit down. I almost belted him. Absolute loser. If you are reading this, grow some balls you pathetic sliver spoon Brighton toff.

Melbourne supprters - WORST IN THE COMP.

Even though I am a member, I will be sitting in General Admission from now on with the real footy fans.

    {Mod Edit: Y_M, you have just returned from suspension. I would watch what I write if I were you!}

I sit in the members and yell my guts out-don't generalize. Everybody is [censored] off at the moment 9 losses is hard to stomach for everyone
