  1. Our senior players are not stepping up to the mark to support the next generation of players at the club. If it was possible I would put the lot of them on the market and start with a full rebuild....the reality is this is not possible and you need a mix to build a successful club. The biggest issue at the club is the lack of pride in the jumper....how can it be aceptable to anyone that we consistently lose and simply move onto the next game believing/hoping things will get better. Put simply, many of the senior players are modelling losing habits and this will infect the younger group. Before we know it this losing mentality becomes the norm and it's a long way back. Bailey must be thinking about what he will be doing next year.....my view is he is out of his depth. His main asset at the moment is the way he works the media. He sold the Board/Team/Supporters on a vision to rebuild and bought himself some time by saying this would take a number of years.....but we must start to seeing some progress, otherwise it is all just talk and more lost years......like the 70's. Get us a coach with some passion, commitment and a football pedigree that commands respect from the team....we don't need the smooth talker to court the media.....have a look at what Mr Voss has done.....sure he has a team with some ageing superstars, blended with some good new talent.....but the key difference is the team believes in and respects him and knows he can truelly lead by example....they are a committed team working together and achieving results.....a far cry from where we are today. I have supported the demons for over 45 years and will do so 'til the day I die, but we never seem to get things right...let's rebuild (again) but let's get the best possible coach to help restore pride in the jumper/club........and please make some decent draft decisions.
  2. Your last comment is very pertinent....we are suffering from a number of ailments, not the least of which is failing to make the most of our draft selections. TJ is another example of us getting it wrong.
  3. Did you see the match today....our midfield was absolutely woeful....bring on 2010 as quickly as possible or enter the team in the VFL
  4. Agree entirely, he shows poise and good decision making well beyond his years....makes you question what the rest of the defence are doing when his star is shining so brightly.
  5. Agree with your ins except Newton....he consistently fails to convert his many opportunities and fails to show good defensive pressure. No doubt he has some talent, but he is a forward and must kick more goals to be considered a viable option.
  6. Putting it succinctly, yet another disgraceful performance taking Bailey to a 11% winning ratio. Why not have the Scoprions promoted to the ones, at least they are semi competitive. This team/club has very serious issues which take me back to the forlorn days of the mid 70's. I have supported the club for over 45 years, but really find it difficult to watch such insipid performances week in week out. Come on guys, play for each other and for the club....think about your footy and be accountable for your efforts. Most are on good pay packets, but do they really earn these....probably not.....on a positive note, Grimes is having a stellar season showing the older heads what poise in defence and commitment mean.....bring on 2010 asap
  7. Agree with Whelan assessment....only hope he can hang 'round to provide backline support as the rebuild continues. Find it really frustrating to see one of the younger backbones of the club failing to produce under pressure. Brock McLean does some really good stuff in and under, but he suffers from a lack of leg speed and a low completion rate with his kicks. I watched at least three turnovers today that led to dogs goals directed attributable to his shortocomings. With only a 7 point margin this is significant. On a positive note, Grimes looks to have the goods as does Maric. Bate needs to choose better options on occasions but is showing good consolidation as a key forward. Brad Miller is a paradox. He has the ability to be a new age Neitz, but too often he doesn't impose himself on the game....at least his kicking is getting better. Also like the way Johnson takes the game on and uses his mobility around the ground. Cale Morton is another top performer...he gets plenty of the ball and generally uses it well. He does need to work on developing a more penetrating kick as "lollypops" can create turnovers. He also doesn't always have the time he thinks to dispose of the ball; bit more talk would help Moloney is now producing consistent hard ball gets and his penetrating kicks to the forward line can place oppositions under great pressure. Last but not least, what would we do without Aaron Davey. He is now rated as one of the league's best play creators from half back. Also, well done to Robbo for adding some spice to the forward line. If he is not taking hangers he is at least bringing the ball to ground for Maric and co. I can now see the future is very bright for the Dees.....today's result would have been different but for some turnovers from experienced players and some questionable decisions from the umps.....could someone tell the men in white what jumper pulls look like - the contest was killed off deep in Q4 with a clear jumper pull on Silvia as he tried to re-enter the contest. Go DEES!
  8. Good to see a young guy being rewarded after a steady improvement thru the year. The original comments on this thread show some Dee supporters need to show some patience with the younger team members.
