It would seem typical of Sydney's M.O. to pick Bradshaw up to replace Hall. This would happen before Carlton in the PSD. I don't know how Bradshaw would feel about ending up in VIC or NSW, but my guess is that he'll pull his head in and stay put.

Luke Ball in the National Draft

Would he even get that far? Brock is apparently worth pick 11... -
He'll pull his head in if he wants to keep playing.

I know, just a hypothetical - slightly more of a waste of time than most others on here. -
Luke Ball in the National Draft

I'm not thinking anything, just curious where people think he would go. This topic was prompted by the discussion in the "Melbourne midfield vs. Richmond midfield" thread though, so in that sense you are right (although your powers of prediction would be more impressive if that possibility had not already been raised...) -
I don't think he'll nominate, but I'm curious where people would put him. Also, would you trade our PSD 1 pick for the National Draft pick that you think he would attract?

Melbourne midfield Vs Richmond midfield

How would people have felt about exchanging PSD 1 (potentially Luke Ball) with Richmond for Pick 19, I wonder? -
Actually "Heart" might not be as wanky as you think it sounds. "Heart of Midlothian F.C. (Hibs)" was founded in 1874. It is a bit like Glasgow's "Rangers" (and only one year younger), where "Hibernian F.C. (Hibs)" would be "Celtic". They are both based in Edinburgh and their fiercely contested matches, played in the Scottish Premier League, are known as "Edinburgh derbies." There is less associated violence with these clashes as there is with Celtic/Rangers which is good. Aside from the historical significance of Heart as a football club name, I don't think it is really all that bad anyway. It evokes courage and passion. "Guts" might be a better name but perhaps a little coarse (and perhaps more appropriate for an AFL team than for a soccer team)!

I calls it like I sees it. If we had a better team in 2008, Austin would not have been as big a story and I dare say people would not rate him as highly. He was a highlight in an otherwise bleak season. If you are insinuating that I want to see Austin fail simply becasue I have a lower (more realistic?) opinion of his abilities and potential than many on here, then that is pathetic. It's a pity that you couldn't just stick to the topic - Austin Wonaeamirri. -

Hey, I lke the kid, I just think he's overhyped and he has a few flaws that tend to get overlooked (slowish, short kick). Obviously we just have different ideas about the semantics of "bunch", "heap" etc. Of course, I hope he goes on to justify the high expectations that many on here have of him. -

Well that proves me right about it bouncing almost on the goal line - but was it from more than 50m out? I can't tell. Either way, when I said he can't kick more than 35-40m, what I was really thinking was that he can't be relied upon to kick goals from more than 35-40m. I realise that this is a bit of a different thing but I'll stand by it. If you put a man on the mark and a man on the goal line (who isn't always going to be monstered out of the contest) then the youtube kick was 10m short. He is definitely a short kick. Would you back him to kick from a mark on the 50m line? -

Hmmm. Maybe 35-40 is a little harsh - I don't ever remember him kicking it more than 50 though. Are you sure? edit: I think I might remember that goal now - it almost bounced on the goal line, was it more than 50m out? It was definitely extreme range for him and the longest kick I can recall him making. -

If by "bunch of goals" you mean 24 goals over 18 games (1.3 / game) then I guess so. He was ok but pretty overhyped in my opinion. People got carried away by the enthusiasm and the story. He had a very good game against Freo which was a very memorable game itself. Can't kick more than 35-40m either which is a shame, but has been very accurate over shorter distances. Contrary to what you will sometimes hear, he is a slowish player (not all aboriginal footballers are "flashy" with "blinding pace"). He seems to have a knack for getting in the right spot which is a fantastic attribute for a small forward. It might also help to explain his impressive tackling rate. I'm still holding out hope for Maric personally (although admittedly, Austin has looked more comfotable in the red and blue so far). -
Short memory? The Club recorded net profits in '04, '05, '06 and '07. You might also be interested to learn that the loss of approx $1.5m forecast for 2008 was around the same amount that football operations spending was increased that year. Also, from memory, the club debt was around $4m in mid 2008 (down from $7m or so?). So "slashing the debt" to $1.5m after receiving $4m in donations is maybe not as good a result as it sounds (but not too bad either). Cheers

Just a phone call away from scandal...

You guys are still talking about me? Wow. If you are so obsessed with me that you can't stick to the issue then once again, I suggest you start a relevant thread. Personally, I have had enough of this topic now. I don't think that there is much more for me to add, and whilst shooting fish in a barrel can be amsuing for a while, I have now grown tired of it. Anyone who is so infatuated with the Stynes story that they cannot bring themselves to believe what me, Brocky and Michael Coglin (and no, I'm not Michael Coglin by the way, nor do I claim to speak for him ) have all reported about the speech, is free to live in their imaginary world. Clearly there is nothing I can do to persuade any of you fanatics of the truth of the matter - I will just have to wait until you all speak to someone else who was there. (notice how no-one who was there has contradicted me on what Jim said?) At that stage, you can either think about it and quietly revise your opinions, or, more likely, do as some others on here have done and try to concoct some way in which Jim's revisionist history about our club's culture is actually true. Either way, my arm is getting sore from throwing pearls in this pig sty. I won't be wasting any more of my time on the matter. -

Funny how when people respond to you, you think that they should respond to the substance of what you are writing, your close association with former boardmembers notwithsatnding. Apparently when they respond to me, they should just ignore what I have said and go on a rant about my supposed identity. Oh, and take cheap shots at my spelling. -
