  1. No I don't. THe GWS team will use an identical path to the AFL as the GC has. VFL followed by AFL, draft picks, concessions, picks from existing clubs. The team will work. The whipping boys of the comp are and will remain the weak Victorian clubs, one of which is currently us!
  2. Originally I didn't see the harm in waiting until next year but if this is true I'm all for it. Has this club become a professional organisation in the space of 2 years?
  3. Surely the hangover has worn off, or are you going to the bank to check you have the amount you drunkenly donated to DD
  4. I really hope the club has other ideas. Although I understand the sentiment, lots of average players does not make a good team. Lets hope Meesen can recover fully and push for selection as No. 1 ruck. If Jamar gets traded, maybe Martin and Meesen can ruck whilst we wait another 2 years for Spencer to develop. Personally I'd delist PJ, I just can't see him in a premeirship side in the future but that's just me. Add another rookie ruck and see what happens.
  5. Can you explain how it is that 2 clubs get set up using the same draft rape and pillage set up, one performs well and the other becomes the whipping boy of the comp? I'm confused.
  6. Or He won't be needed with better and more talented players on the list.
  7. And Colin Garland and Sam Blease and James Strauss and James Frawley and Jamie Bennel and Neville Jetta and Matthew Bate and Colin Sylvia and Jack Viney and Jack Trengove/John Butcher and Austin Wonaeamirri and Aaron Davey and the list still goes on
  8. 6 Sylvia 5 Jetta 4 McDonald 3 Bate 2 Jamar 1 Robertson
  9. This is more crap. He has improved markedly below his knees, is showing great strength and dash through the middle and will become a real weapon for this club. Move on, stop pulling out these tied old lines about players it seems you aren't even watching.
  10. I may well be wrong here but I'd say "a bit of bifF" in the old days was exactly that. A few choice words, a couple of punches thrown and that's it. The problem now is that it ends up with one guy on the ground and several kicking and punching until said person is bloodied and broken, occasionally permanently damaged or dead. It just seems that "a bit of biff" is far more violent these days,
  11. It's expected he'll be a high first round pick in the draft of 2012. He'll be picked by us and will become an MFC legend.
  12. What does this mean? If you mean influence as in turn games in Melbourne's favour, you could delist the entire group because as yet we don't have one match winner, that's right, not one! Robertson and McDonald are two completly different players at this stage in their careers. One is all about the team and providing grunt and leadership to a group of kids whilst the other is Robertson. It's not difficult to work out. As for Gaunt's "double dipping superannuation" comment. What a load of horse [censored]. He'll be paid a lesser amount for one more year, hardly big dollars and cheap when you look at the leadership he will provide to a group, many of whom are just out of school. Does no one realise how important true leadership is to such a young group. Remember what you did when you were 18 - 21, wasn't always pretty was it!
  13. No one's going to trade Boak for Rivers, it's pure fantasy. However I'm expecting quite a few on here to be happy it doesn't happens because Rivers has a burning desire to play football and with a full season and preseason the only way is up. The thing we know about Rivers is that his best is very bloody good and I can't wait to see it again.
  14. I'd expect that's exactly what will happen, unless of course we can trade for him.
  15. He'll play in the backline and rotate through the middle, along with Grimes, Bennell, Strauss and Green. Now that's settled!
  16. The age of these players has nothing to do with why they were asked to retire. Whelan and Wheatley retired with the bodies of 45 year olds. Robertson was gently nudged because the club needs TEAM players. As good as he has been the current model of player is not Russell. Bailey is building a team that plays 100% of the game as a team, with each player contributing to a strong defensive game, much like Geelong and the Saints and every other great team for that matter. James McDonald is this player. Sure he's older but Harvey retired at 37 so it meens little. McDonald's body isn't failing him, he had one injured knee this year and since he recovered has been playing good football. He will most likely play a backline roll and I for one will love watching his toughness and team game down back. He is quite likely the most underrated player this club has had over the last 10 year's and if you actually watched him play you'd realise he easily makes our best 22, and would get a game at most other clubs for that matter. Teams are picked by FD's not posters on club forum's.
  17. Playing out of the backline on small forwards may be an option for McDonald. I can't see them taking the captaincy from him and keeping him on the list. Surprising decision but no doubt the club looks at this as a weak draft and sees McDonald as far and away the best leader on the list. His last month or so have been pretty good, if he can maintain that form there's no reason why he can't go around again. In saying this I was pretty sure he would be gone at year's end.
  18. Built like Michael O'Loughlin -Taller Moves like Lance Franklin - Faster Ground skills of Aaron Davey - Smoother Aerial skills of Russell Robertson - Higher Goal kicking skills of A. Jackovich - Freakier
  19. Let's hope we can win enough games to keep this from happening. Let another club be the story
