Have told Mrs. Redleg to go out and chase down the best banana bread she can find.
-
Well you should be, because the Age has defamed us several times despite their legal vetting.
-
I am going to treat my myself to a banana souffle. Will probably have a banana fritter at the local chinese restaurant sunday.

Disgraceful slander of a magnificent thread WJ, I will be speaking to Finkelstein QC on monday. Thanks Nasher, for bringing back the thread. So many peoples' lives have now been enriched again.
-
I can see we need the original thread back NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yes, appeal dismissed.
-
Don't think that is correct. They actually lose their two first picks, but can trade their players for first or second round picks. They don't get to trade the picks they lost. However, the advent of free agency softens the penalty enormously. The loss of Tippett frees up so much space, they could outbid everyone else to get the best couple of free agents, that might have in ordinary circumstances cost them their first picks anyway.
-
Obviously the loss of the thread is affecting you.
-
No I dont. I was discussing with someone the tanking issue and his view was that the AFL couldn't find it proved, as it would be a minefield in relation to the gambliing that went on. Litigation could block the courts forever.

Nasher, don't worry about the bloody cricket, get over to the Melbourne Demons board and restore the deleted "No T$ no BS " thread which has been deleted. That is an event that is affecting Australia.
-
Mystery of the deleted thread may be solved. It was WJ's computer that did the deleting. Apparently WJ had some IT guys come in and service his office computer and he thinks they may have deleted the Demonland thread somehow. Nasher, what are you doing, get the thread back. We haven't heard "boo" from you on this most important Demonland event.

Thought I would blow my own trumpet. This is what I posted on another thread this morning. "Don't think Crows will cop the iron fist. I predicted earlier that they would be fined the amount of the 3rd party payment $300k and I still stand by that. 2 years of first and second round picks was on the cards and they may do better as they handed in a 3rd rounder with their first rounder this year. They were late round picks as well. Tippett will cop half a season and end up at Swans on the money he wanted and they will have him for free, a huge win." Anyone want to know the tattslotto numbers for this weekend?

BTW on Demetriou's definition of tanking, we are innocent. We didn't tell a player to lie down and we experimented. Don't forget to deliberately lose you must be good enough to win, we weren't. We accepted that and experimented like everyone else. I suppose if I played Federer at tennis and didn't give him my tricky Redleg, down the line backhand, I would be tanking.

Is there a new wind blowing through the MFC recruiting department? Today's Herald Sun has an article on players drafted who might make the earliest impact in the AFL. Of 20 named we scored four of them, JV, Jimmy, Jones and Terlich. 4 of our 5 picks made that list. Not that that proves we did well, but at least it is different to the usual articles we see on us and helps from a feeling of being positive about what we have done and our immediate future. It wont hurt in the search for more sponsors and members either. I have never been more confident after a draft/trading period that we have really improved our list to the extent of this last period. We will be a different club and have a different team on the ground.

I believe LJ's behaviour towards the MFC has set back the opportunities for other players like him. Rather than being seen as a hard working committed footballer, he is now seen as a troubled and ungrateful man. The words of Matthew Rendell do unfortunately ring loud and true in this case. Most understand his background and the difficulties contained therein, especially when related to forging an AFL career, that is what Rendell was getting at. He was not being racist, he was accepting that a difficult situation existed and that some clubs would choose not to take the risk, which of course is their right and probably obligation. LJ has not helped that. Leave aside the court case and the violence incident, for the moment and just concentrate on his departure. LJ never thanked the club for its time and effort, in trying to help him become an AFL footballer, in helping his community and in helping him with his court case, nor did he in any way seek to help us get some compensation via a trade. He walked out before the end of the season, a season in which he played one game and was probably paid his full and generous salary without a thought for us. If he is that keen in November to play with Port he would have been somewhat keen at least earlier and we could have done a deal to help him and us, without his football reputation being devalued, as it now has. His behaviour is excused by his mentor on here and if that is the way he was brought up, so be it, there are of course different cultures and we are each a product to some extent of our upbringing. I don't condemn him for that, if that is the expected behaviour of him by his people. That however does give AFL clubs the right to look at the individual and say, he is too difficult to take on. That is is the recruiter's right. If recruiters now see people like LJ as too hard, that is not their fault. They also should not be condemned for not taking on talent that comes with far greater difficulties than other possible recruits. The job is to create the best list they can and if things make that difficult they are not honour bound to go with the hardest task but rather one would assume the easiest. That is where I think LJ has let everyone down. On a personal note I invested a lot of my hope in LJ, went to his book launch, spoke to him when we met, read all the articles about him and was really proud of his attempts to become an AFL player and ours of supporting him. I am personally disappointed in the outcome, but that is life. What I find most disappointing is that his leaving and the manner of it makes me not care in the slightest about LJ the man and that really disappoints me. I suppose many would call that my fault and so be it, but I can't help but feel that LJ has helped foster that feeling. Wonder if he would acknowledge that in any way.

THE WILSON FILE - the arrogance at the heart of the innuendo
Redleg replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I refuse to subscribe or buy the paper even when offered at bargain basement discount prices. -
I hope to be in Tassie in January on a cruise with WJ and the wives. Perhaps I could shout him one then.
-
Interesting. With our thread gone that leaves that thread as the most replied to, most pages and possibly most views.
-
While buying my bananas yesterday at the fruit shop, the owner's son who was helping out and is an IT genius, told me that the only way for this to happen, is for someone in control to delete the thread. They don't just disappear. Perhaps the responsible person will reinstate it quietly and quickly.

As someone posted elsewhere, we may look to trade a ruckman next year for a decent pick or maybe a player we need.
-
This is my take on it. I couldn't care less about him.
-
Interesting that we have another ruckman training with us when we have so many on the list.
-
Yes, absolutely.
-
A banana is not a banana unless it is consumed reading the original thread. Nasher I need the potassium, do your thing.

You can always rely on a Tasmanian.
