They accepted the penalty. To this day they insist that the players were not given banned or harmful drugs, but are unable to say what they in fact were given and therefore what side effects may come from those drugs. However, Robbo says they are not guilty of any wrong doing and if he says that, then they must be innocent. I don't know how I got it so wrong.

As to the PP, the excuse Mark Evans gave for us not getting one, as well as the unsaid closeness to the tanking issue, was that we had Clark and Hogan to come back. If we lose the experienced big bodied Chip, a pick will not replace him for a few years while the kid develops and Clark is gone and Hogan has a back issue. On top of that we will have had another year, about 8 in a row where we have been poor and at the bottom of the ladder. I would be in there now seeking one and telling him if we don't qualify, then no one ever will again. I would go hard as a pick would be tradeable and may get us another experienced player or two.

We went in too tall with Maxy for the 2nd time and got punished as expected. He was poor as well. IMO it was the perfect time to play Blease as we needed run to break lines and perhaps kick a nice bomb and JKH for a bit of crumbing. Roos has obviously marked Blease's card and it is a pity that despite good games for casey he hasn't been given a single chance under him. It is early to call but I don't think Barry will make it. Our early part of the game was great and if Dawes with his 2 shots and Grimes with his gimme, had converted, we could have been ahead at half time. That would have kept our enthusiasm up and it would have been closer in the end than 10 goals. I actually felt the players sigh when Grimes missed. He had a poor night giving away the first turnover, not bodying Mzungo to stop his mark and then goal from 40m, not 5m like Grimes had and then he topped off his horror night with a handball to Pearce for a walk in goal, which had Pearce laughing. We are on the right track under Roos but need more skill and pace in the side and therefore we need to get a few good mids from the draft and trading. Those with poor skill have to go, as they let us down time and time again. IMO we also need another KPF to help Jesse and Dawes, another key back and a rookie ruckman that can be developed or a mature one that is not getting a go elsewhere. That might sound silly given Jamar's form but he is in his 30's or close to it and our others look ordinary ATM.

We are a fair way off in the skills and finishing department. IMO we still need a big forward in addition to Jesse, another key back, a rookie ruckman and a few good mids. We then need to delist or trade those who can't use the ball properly.

In the latest piece of garbage from Bomberland, Bomber Thompson now says he won't pay his fine because of the comments by Harcourt. First, why hasn't he already been made to pay it, over a year from when it was ordered and he agreed to it? Second, what did Harcourt say that in any way that allows him to suggest that he now shouldn't pay the fine? Third, he got that fine as part of a deal avoiding suspension, can the AFL now set aside the fine and ban him from football instead as he has broken the agreement? Lastly, please PJ don't allow any of these people near our club. I have always disliked Carlton, because of the way its supporters and officials treated the rest of the competition and for what I copped, my whole school years from them. I am now finding I dislike Essendon nearly as much. They appear determined to take down the whole AFL with themselves.

I think we are talking at cross purposes. I agree that AD rang Evans, I just believe him and the ACC when they say he didn't know of the investigation. He clearly knew however that the Bombers were up to something. I think he just told them to fess up if they were doing something naughty, as they would be caught eventually and it would go better for them if they owned up. They did own up as a result and got a pretty light penalty as a result IMO. The heads up IMO came from AD because of heavy speculation in the industry that the Bombers were cheating.
