I think the problem with our forward line this year was twofold, the mids getting beaten and therefore not enough entries inside F50 and the fact that we basically only had one key forward for most of the year. Dawes when he got right was basically double teamed for most of the time and had little influence. We would then have Gawn, who was basically starved of opportunity as his leads or making position were often overlooked and he is not a true forward. Fitzy kicked a couple in each of his late games and if Hogan and Howe were also up forward I think Fitzy could get one out and maintain those two goals per game. He is quicker than any tall back and too tall for a medium sized defender. He could be very useful as the 3rd or 4th key forward. We then have Watts to throw forward as well, as a 3rd or 4th key forward and he only needs a few possessions to kick a couple each week. Garlett, JKH and Kent are ok small forwards and will hopefully see more ball in the F50 this year. I keep oscillating between McCartin and mid. Our need is for mids and we get one in Brayshaw, another in Billy and we probably need to use this high pick to get another quality one. Lever can play in several positions and is actually taller than McCartin and may in time assume a key position.

Why, it has been done in the past. If they guarantee to draft him in PSD 1 he can train with them. That makes our pick the first live pick, a great result in days gone by, but not as valuable under the new rules. However still can be useful.

Purely on the highlights tapes on both boys, IMO Roos will take Lever. He is far more versatile, agile and can take a big grab. He can get his own ball up the ground, or down forward, whereas McCartin looked more a 1 trick pony. Lever looks a bigger version of Heppell and that is a big compliment. Lever also has the height and may fill out and then play a key position later on anyway.

Don't disagree with most of that. Gawn hasn't proved himself as a ruckman to me so far. Fitzy could still make it. I think he needs games and confidence in his position in the team.

Agree with first line. Second, they didn't and in fact refused 2 picks inside 7 and we didn't threaten to trade to the Dogs. Third, that is surprising except that they had a stated aim of getting 3 picks inside 25. Four, agree as earlier but same as first line.

i am just salivating at the thought of Hogan and McCartin as our two key forwards for the next ten years. ATM we also have Dawes, Howe, Fitzy, Gawn, Pedersen, Watts etc. Now with Garlett added to crumb and JKH and Kent, we would have a pretty good forward line. Every other move could be for mids. Maybe a a late or Rookie pick for a ruckman.

Well the whole footy world will be stunned if that happens.
