  1. Does anyone else think it would be worth giving him a run on the half back flank? We currently have no run and carry players capable of making a good decision from the back half bar grimes and frawley and that's dubious at best. It also remains to be seen if Tapscott and Strauss will ever perform these roles.

You only have to look at the Hawks last night and see how many offensive plays they make from their back half e.g. Suckling etc.

Yes, old Col boy defensive abilities might get found wanting but jesus christ could it get any worst. At least it will force him to play rather than sulking round the forward line.

    Thoughts???

  2. I like Prestia, reminds me of Montagna. If that's true maybe a trade of our first 1st round compensation pick plus Moloney or Sylvia for Prestia and an agreement they wont nominate Viney?

McKay's not a bad player, but I wouldn't move heaven and earth to get him. 2nd round pick max!

Hi guys, I'm not sure if the following has been mentioned before but I believe the club has its sights firmly on 2 Victorians currently interstate. Someone would have to confirm if the following players are out of contract at seasons end. I'm speaking of McKay from the crows and Dion Prestia. Prestia's father is apparently a keen Melbourne supporter who donates fruit annually to the club from his business. We have the power to trade with their clubs and they would add what our midfield is lacking. Pace, poise and class.

    There you go!

  3. It was great seeing Liam play again after what he's been through these past 8 months.

I reckon he went ok, and was one of the best in the opening quarter. He showed he had bit in reserve when he spun around and goaled over his shoulder in the last quarter, before leading out for a mark and just missing another shot. He then followed up with a lightning hand pass goal assist. I'm no expert, but his touch was pretty good, but he probably needs 2-3 weeks in the VFL to build up his match fitness. All in all it was a good hit out for him and his coaches should be pleased to see him get through a game after being out for so long. Today I'm a happy man.

    Thanks RudeBoy

Keep us updated on Liam's progress. We all really appreciate it.

    Cheers mate

  4. No, he doesn't have the ability to get the ball. He has the ability to be where the ball is sometimes but that's about it. He's a dud. It's an embarrassment that he wears our jumper. Do I sound angry? That's what happens when I sit and watch insipid footballers.

I'm as disappointed with his development as anyone. But geez who else do you play?

  5. Of course it's not that difficult Billy - BUT - what he is trying to say is that we are already committed to taking Viney. He is training with us, playing for the Scorps and there is absolutely no chance that we wont take him. So, any team that had picks before us would bid on Viney just to force us to use our first round pick, even if they didn't want to use pick 1/2/3 on him. They know that we are going to take him. Could you really imagine Sheedy going "oh, well lets just allow the Dees to use their second rounder on Viney even though we could force them to use their first round". No. He'll be an [censored] about it.

Exactly right. Anyone who is hoping that GWS or Gold Coast are going to allow us to take Viney with our 2nd round pick is deluded. It's all about having a competitive advantage.

But from all reports Viney would be top 5 in this draft so I don't really see what the problem is. We'll be giving up exactly what we should be.

  6. I'm led to believe that we have an agreement in place that the Collingwood assistant recruiter Jason Taylor will be announced as our head recruiter at the start of the 2013 season.

My understanding is that whilst he has accepted to take on the role Collingwood has refused to release him from his contract, going against somewhat of an AFL convention that staff are free to pursue more enticing positions. This is why Eddie came out a few months ago in the media and threw that hissy fit.

  7. We'll all turn up Round 1, we'll all pay our memberships for another year, we'll keep donating money at club functions and the like. The board will work their arses off to assure that we have top line coaches and facilities.

It's the players turn now to show the same determination and grit.

  8. From Sunday Age :

"There were suggestions yesterday the Magpies had offered three players in a package deal to Greater Western Sydney in a bid to secure boom 17-year-old Jaeger O'Meara, but the Giants resisted the offer."

Could this indicate a deal has already been done, or that the players offered were not good enough, or that GWS want picks, or that there is another answer I haven't thought of.

    Would have thought the latter.

I think everyone is getting a bit carried away with young Jaeger.

There hasn't been a single hint from the club as to whether or not were even interested in selecting him.

Maybe the club thinks its better to have 3 picks in the top 15 next year?
