He did a good job staying positive. The question around his thoughts on keeping Viney, Petracca and Oliver together for next year was shot down quickly. He said he wouldn’t elaborate and that’s essentially private. It was one of the few times he seemed to bristle at the questions. GW tried incredibly hard to unearth negativity towards the board and admin however Goodwin played a straight bat. He sounds like he already has a job lined up in Sydney.

Buckley confirmed he was asked about the West Coke job but knocked it back. i thought he spoke well regarding the job tonight on The Couch. Was very measured and respectful to Goodwin and the MFC recruitment process.

If he could tidy up his skills, I reckon he could be a future captain.

McVee looked like he had a new lease of life and looked angry. Had his dash back and laid some strong tackles. And Culley who is a beast. Youthful exuberance is fun to watch.

Does our backline’s performance today, particularly the talls, demonstrate that maybe Lever and May could be trade bait. We just need to get some more games into Adams and Howes and pickup a lock down small backman.

Lots of positives from the game. Young guys played really well. Rivers, Petty and Langford really lifted. Massive calls on some ineffectual old guys coming up. Viney and Salem firmly in the gun.
