GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
To quote a headline from the back page of the Herald Sun (circa early 1960s) that has stuck with me over the years: "Today's Magpies are Tomorrow's Feather Dusters".

GAMEDAY: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Spring is in the air, we are ‘on song’ and face Collingwood in a ‘blockbuster’ at the ‘G’. How good is that? Shades of the 1950s and 60s for my generation of Dees supporters. Our team defence will suffocate the life out of their game plan, and reduce the noise of their fans to a whimper by early in the last quarter. The ‘magpie army’ will look like a multitude of black and white ants as they trail out of the ground post siren, while the ‘G’ reverberates to the throng of the Grand Old Flag. Dees by a comfortable 8 goals.

‘Steady as she goes’ after last week’s outstanding win. Very comfortable with that!

Strange quote from Freo coach
Was definitely eased out the door if you can believe the crew On the Couch. Maybe they need the $s to help fund the splurge on Dogga

PODCAST: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
At 0830 last night, I was sure the Collingwood game would be the hardest of our three leading up to finals; by 10:00pm I was convinced that we’d beat them by 10 goals. 😄 🫠. Compelling listening as always! Thanks team.

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
There is no denying that tonight’s game is a litmus test for both teams. We all know that the colours that apply to the original ‘litmus test’, from which the modern term is derived, were red and blue. This thesis provides conclusive evidence of a Demon win. The final margin is harder to prove scientifically, but I’m suggesting 20 points.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
100% agree 3183 ....... and this was borne out by Kade Chandler, who in his interview today, used words like, "today was one of the most intense training sessions I've ever been part of ......"

CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Articles about Chandler on the MFC site suggest to me that he'll be a starter in Perth. His quality game for Casey in the wet last weekend, adds weight to this, I reckon.

Angus Brayshaw Re-Signs Until 2028
I’m with you Megatron, and I get the same ‘gut feel’ from Goody’s presser this morning.

Matthew Stokes on Melbourne
Very simplistic assessment by Stokes imo.

Looking forward to the poddy, as always! if you can fit it in, I’d love to hear the views of the panel on whether the Jackson / Brayshaw contract issues are / are not impacting on team performance. Thank you!

CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
I wrote the following about JVR in the Casey thread: "JVR was solid in conditions that didn’t suit. His competitiveness, willingness to put his body on the line, and bring others into the play, are all attributes we currently don’t have forward of centre in the ‘ones’. Low possessions, but he didn’t do his chances any harm." It might be a bit soon, but given our need for another tall forward, I'd take a punt, in tandem with either BBB or Weid.

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Footscray
My thoughts (from TV) on those who seemed to be around the mark for senior selection: Bowey an excellent game where his class shone through. On that performance, would be pushing hard for a senior return. Chandler was good. I haven’t been a fan, but 4 goals to back up his recent returns, must put him very close to earning another opportunity. JVR was solid in conditions that didn’t suit. His competitiveness, willingness to put his body on the line, and bring others into the play, are all attributes we currently don’t have forward of centre in the ‘ones’. Low possessions, but didn’t do his chances any harm. Lawrie just okay in conditions that I thought should have suited him. Was hoping for more based on recent form. Dunstan is the obvious replacement if we need a big bodied mid in the ‘ones’, but ball use will always be his problem. Hunt was solid and showed good run / carry on a few occasions. Probably enjoyed the freedom of not having a ‘lock down’ role. Turner did his job capably after a month on the sidelines. A very slim possibility to travel to Perth if Lever doesn’t get up, but probably needs another run.

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Footscray
I was very surprised when I read his numbers. I watched the game (TV) and didn’t think he did that much. Thought he had an okay game, especially given his long lay off, but nothing like what is suggested by those stats.
