  1. Fair point, but there's still a sub role potentially up for grabs, as well as possible injury replacements (heaven forbid).
  2. Very disappointing. Casey looked lethargic, some of them completely disinterested at times. Nobody put a hand up for a senior gig imo, and that includes several who had a real opportunity to stake a claim.
  3. An incredibly even team performance, so there will be plenty of unlucky players who miss out. This is my crack at it: 6. Petracca 5. Lever 4. Oliver 3. Pickett 2. Jackson 1. Rivers Then, the next batch: Hibberd, Brayshaw, Hunt, May, etc(a new recruit)
  4. Ah ……… that’s what loading / periodisation looks like! You bloody Rippa!
  5. Stuck in a hospital bed after a (minor) mishap yesterday. A win tonight, by a big enough margin to grab 2nd spot, will be just the tonic I need. Go Dees!
  6. Haven’t read most of this thread, but I regard the way Essendon is treating Rutten, as akin to cheating on your long term partner, in public. The relationship is no longer tenable.
  7. Fantastic work fellas. Thanks fortaking the time to answer my question. Geez I hope Bin is on the money re the Bris game, like he so often is!
  8. I’d be wishing him all the very best and start speculating about a possible replacement.
  9. Several media pundits, as well as some Demonlanders, are posturing (correctly in my view) that we are currently playing conservative football, without the match-winning ‘flare & dare’ that proved so successful in the recent past. What do the panel think about this aspect of our play, and in particular, what is the reason for it (?). Is it a structural / personnel / form issue (?). Is it a tactical decision on our part, and if so why (?); Is it being forced upon us by opposition tactics (?). Is it an approach we can readily revive now that we are at the pointy end of the season (?). Thanks
  10. Thanks Andy. That last word is critical!
  11. Fair point re Weid.
  12. Well if our AFL MC are looking to go with a second tall forward next week, Weid was the one to put his hand up in tough conditions today.
  13. 6. Melksham 5. Brayshaw 4. Petty 3. Oliver 2. Gawn 1. Hunt The next two: Viney, May
  14. Yep! After Kozzie’s goal, that was the moment of the night for me!
  15. Message to the players: You may be aware that you did untold damage to the good humour and well-being of all of us Demonlanders last weekend. Please understand that there is a huge onus of responsibility on you to make it up to us this evening. We are mostly forgiving people. You know what’s required ……….. just get it done! Thanks
  16. If we aspire the Holy Grail in 2022, we should easily account for Carlton tonight, and I think we will. A margin of 7 or 8 goals will give us a handy percentage boost, so just get it done Dees.
  17. My initial response was FMD ……. but I took a deep breath and reflected on last weekend. It was perhaps the best game of footy for the season, huge stakes between two top teams, enormous pressure and some important breaks went against us. We lost by only a few points, with lots of upside to the level we know that we can play at (eg. goal kicking and delivery to our forwards). I’m okay with no changes in those circumstances.
  18. Another great poddy guys. Currently spending a few days at a remote cabin in the Snowy Mountains (with very dodgy Internet coverage) so couldn’t tune in on Monday. Went for a drive yesterday until I found the Net, and the poddy kept me company on an enjoyable bush walk through the high country. It restored my soul, and faith in the Dees for at least another week. Thanks!
  19. A question on behalf of our coaching staff: Could the panel please dissect our forward-half woes, and advise how to address them quickly and easily. Time is running out! Thanks.
  20. 6. Oliver 5. Brayshaw 4. Petracca 3. Gawn 2. Viney 1. Salem
  21. To quote a headline from the back page of the Herald Sun (circa early 1960s) that has stuck with me over the years: "Today's Magpies are Tomorrow's Feather Dusters".
  22. Spring is in the air, we are ‘on song’ and face Collingwood in a ‘blockbuster’ at the ‘G’. How good is that? Shades of the 1950s and 60s for my generation of Dees supporters. Our team defence will suffocate the life out of their game plan, and reduce the noise of their fans to a whimper by early in the last quarter. The ‘magpie army’ will look like a multitude of black and white ants as they trail out of the ground post siren, while the ‘G’ reverberates to the throng of the Grand Old Flag. Dees by a comfortable 8 goals.
  23. ‘Steady as she goes’ after last week’s outstanding win. Very comfortable with that!
  24. Well I love it! If C’wood rely on that for motivation, they are no bloody hope!
