  1. I concur. There were obvious gaps in the teams ability, but Goodwin was stubborn and never seemed to want to change up the team despite excellent VFL form. Would've been good to leave Adams in for the last 3 games to get a taste of what's to come. We were done at that stage of the season so leaving Jefferson in and maybe giving Kentfield a crack would've given us a better idea of how these kids will go next season.
  2. Wonder if Haircut Hale is getting the opportunity to present for appearances sake. Also can't see any of the current assistants staying when new coach arrives. This costs us more $ to pay out remaining contracts. Melbourne is such a fiscally irresponsible club.
  3. What to do with both of them. Petracca can play high half forward. He started there and did quite well. It's up to him if he accepts the lesser minutes in the middle. He is terribly inaccurate, but that can change. Oliver is my concern. He is a pure inside mid. His disposal over distance is not good. His best work is crash and handball. I can't see any other positions for him due to his lack of speed. Thoughts?
  4. Feel free to educate me, but I don't understand the hoopla about Derkson. Hasn't played and is injured. We tried for him last year. At least we're not trading for him. Club keeps mentioning him like he's the great white hope. Not dissing the fella, just hope it's not ANOTHER fizzer of a pick-up.
  5. Agree with all those suggested. A lot of spots to fill with only 3 picks and no valuable, tradable players. Thoughts on where we go from here. Is it another dip into the VFL play lists?
  6. It was foolish to give him another year. He was solid this season, not great and exposed for speed. If the club wanted him, they could've lowballed based on his injuries and suspension. If another club wanted him then so be it. They take the risk. He won't be worth much in a trade and, unfortunately, I believe he'll see his great career at Casey.
  7. Agree with Billings, Woey, Brown. Laurie. While McAdam has been a waste of a mid 20's pick, he should remain for his finally year just for financial reasons. The club will be bleeding $ due to Goodwin payout and possibly Oliver - we would be paying at least 60% of his contract to move him on. Glad we kept Culley. He's a big lad, great leap and runs hard. Could easily be a tall forward or 2nd back. Spargo is the tricky one. I like his craft and the forward line functions better when he plays, but his injuries are becoming a hinderance. Not sure of his contract status, but could give him a lower offer with game trigger incentives. JVR is a keeper. He is judged much too hard. His development has been stunted by the terrible ball movement of the mids. He is a pure leading forward, not a 1v1. At the games I watched his leading patterns and double backs. He knows what to do, but every time the ball was held up and the lead ignored. The ball ended up on his head as he was doubling back resulting in 1v1. He's a great kick, and will only get stronger as he fills out. Only 22.
