Anyone for cricket?
They were struggling early in their group match against Bangla Desh when just 4/61 after 23 overs but came good to win by 81 runs. Jake Doran who played in the CA Chairman's XI against the English tourists when just 16 years of age in November last year scored 99 not out for the Aussies to get them to 6/244 before bundling out the opposition who collapsed to lose their last 8 wickets for 35 runs. I have no idea what happens from here but I don't think the Aussies are as dominant at this level as they have been in the past.

I think we can legitimately call Australia's win the first by a visiting test side since the only previous one was by the Poms in a test that was compromised by Hansie Cronje's match fixing. Before the test, I had us as rank outsiders (much as I did before the first test in Brisbane) and had us losing the series 1-2. Centurion hasn't been kind to visiting test nations in the past but the Mitchell Johnson effect has been as devastating in SA as it was here. And to think that two years ago, he was almost written off there after some embarrassing performances and wayward bowling. I'm still pushing for Mitch Clark to follow the example and become the devastating force under Roosy as Mitch Johnson has been for Boof.

Not the only win for the Aussies overnight either. Our Australia Under-19s beat Namibia by 101 in their first game at the Under 19s World Cup to lead Group B. They should win that group with their next opposition Afghanistan before facing a danger game against Bangladesh.

Mitchell Johnson gets McLaren behind the ear with an absolute brute of a ball. SA 5/132 in their second dig with Mitch on 3/45 closing in on tea on day 4. This Test Match doesn't have much longer to go, I think.

Painstaking this morning at Centurion but it was more enjoyable to watch Smith's 100 than Brisbane's first half.

One day it will click with Warner that he doesn't have to smash every ball that comes his way. Without wanting to blunt his game, someone should be into him over shot selection and when to exercise patience i..e on a green top when the ball's still new and doing things. Agree with Rogers - that sort of rearing ball can be unplayable. He was stiff. Shaun Marsh and Steve Smith saved the day for Australia which is in a rare position for a visiting side at this ground - slightly on top.

The No T$ No B$ Thread
Surely in the context of this thread, those words are highly complimentary. And yes, it was the creation of a great man and former board member of the MFC. It's not acceptable for anyone to say anything derogatory on Demonland of anyone who held such a high and esteemed position of eminence.

The No T$ No B$ Thread
The way I see it Kingswood Country was to television what the No T$ No B$ Thread is to Demonland - cutting edge, state of the art satirical and biting social commentary without borders of boundaries. In other words, pure unadulterated crap. However, like the TV show and the Kingswood vehicle it is typically Australian and for some obscure reason remains one of our longest running threads and for that, the usual contributors should be proud.

Wednesday looms as a big day for sport in this country. The opening day of the First Test v RSA or Geelong v Clllingwood. I'm in a quandry as to which one I should watch.

Comprehensive in the end and it was George Bailey who was the only Aussie from the Ashes victory who represented the country tonight. Yet we dominated them completely and utterly for more than three months.

Actually, I'm hoping that there's no rain tonight because it might give us an opportunity to see Joel Dernbach batting. After seeing him bowl and in the field, I reckon there must be some reason why he's playing international cricket.

No rain that I know but I was wondering what happened to these games if they were rain affected.

Does anyone know if the Duckworth-Lewis system operates in T20?

WARNING The content of this post might cause offence I finally discovered that the Suns had an open training session at Carrara so I hailed the big yellow taxi that passed by just as I stepped onto the sunny pavement outside the place where I was staying. The cab stopped with a jerk. The jerk got out and I got in. Boom ... tish. "Follow that car" was my command but it was a strange ask because the Gold Coast Highway in the middle of Surfers Paradise is now a one -way street and there was no choice but to follow. All roads led to Carrara where my assignation was to spy on a Gold Coast Suns pre-season training session and hopefully sell my secrets to the highest bidder. I was cleverly disguised as a local bodybuilder high on a cocktail of turps and steroids and, satisfied that the dark sunnies fully concealed my true identity, I gate-crashed the pre training press conference. I don't quite understand why they threw me out because I felt my hard hitting questions were good. "Excuse me Mr. McKenna, but what was Stephen Dank's role while employed at the club, who paid him and did his ... er conditioning methods play a part in Junior's Brownlow?" I tried to throw in another one about what it was like having Kim Kardashian's younger brother on the list but the security guards were dragging me down the corridor and it was no use because Bluey was already listening to a Dorothy Dixer from a young blonde reporter with the Courier-Mail. It wasn't fair - if only I had her body they would have been listening to me and not her. As my head hit the pavement outside the stadium, I swore that next time, I would bring the rottweiler for protection. I ditched the sunnies and the gold lamé jacket disguise into a nearby garbage bin and, finding a conveniently open side gate, I entered just as the players were coming onto the arena. You won't believe this but I think I struck gold. Instead of a training session for the Gold Coast Suns, I had stumbled on a full dress rehearsal for the Legends Football League, formerly known as the Lingerie Football League. I tried to avert my gaze from the sight that filled my eyes but the coach and players were all good sports and much more friendly than Bluey and the crowd from the Suns. Even invited me to the team jacuzzi after training. Ah Queensland! Beautiful one day. Perfect the next. I love this place.
