I have a gut feeling that Riley Onley who has the size to play some good midfield moments, looking at his highlights he looked every inch a top 30 player but went on the rookie list overlooked by 17 other teams. This kind of rejection will make him more determined to show them what a mistake they made. Another player like Latrelle Pickett may blossom in the professional environment. Lastly Max Heath came with no fanfare but may blossom under Max Gawn's tutelege. We will know whether we have recuited well once the interclub games start.

I have always believed that players should give the club some semblance of loyalty but we find that players just leave when they want and club gets very little compensation since a player does not stipulate the his original club get well compensated if he is to leave to the new club. I also believe 4 years at the club is a poor return for the club for the time and effort.

Predictions are always dependant on how many injuries you get to your best 23, loss of players like Oliver and Petracca is damaging to our chances this year but Steele will add some respite, McVee's replacement in Jaith is refreshing in his run and taking the game on, Spargo was never the same after his injuries took a toll on his body. I watched his analysis and it was very good but soccer goalkeepers do this using the angles automatically to create the impression they have covered the whole goals, it is called depth perception. It is no different in AFL but the players have to be switched on 100% mentally to do this throughout the match.

Those people who thought Melksham was a filler on the list well he played probably his best game for us ever. Don't write him off for 2026.
