... what? -
We need to see drastic yet realistic improvement next year in order for Chip to stay I believe. If there are quality signs of us turning it around and playing very good football like Port Adelaide has done this year, I have every bit of confidence he will sign. I think this is a make or break season for a player of his calibre

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAY KENNEDY-HARRIS

If this guy slips as a late pick I would be very keen to have him on board. Has a built upper body so won't be a flimsy rake and will keep putting on mass. Might turn into a really good goal sneak and someone with aggression in putting forward line pressure on. Yes from me. -
I think if he is there at 38, Hawthorn will snag him.
-
You just have to look at where it has all began in Mumford quitting, Jesse White being moved on and now Jed. It's a process which has not finished as over the next week and few years we will see a lot of players being traded and downgraded in order to achieve more salary cap room including pay cuts. Chop (Jed) and I over a few beers really wasn't thrilled in the idea he has spent a lot of time in Sydney developing and not getting the game time in which he deserves. Now the addition of Franklin and Tippet as forward line options cuts it back for him even more regarding game time. Choppy reckons a lot more players will follow suit as the culture has definitely been swayed and poor old Longmire being 'star gazing' as he put it. P.s. Chop (Lamb chop) is his nick name we used to call him as a teenager growing up back in old country Yarram.
-
Had a chat to Jed Lamb, didn't like the direction of the club. Longmire has moulded into the form of Voss in his first few years at the club in looking at drafting superstars in Tippet and Franklin and cutting the rest. A lot of players not happy.
-
Solid build, makes good decisions, seems to hit guys lace out and takes the game on. His highlights were impressive.
-
Variety of options to choose from nonetheless. It's not a risky business having pick 9 in this years draft, which is why I was so glad to see us trading pick 2 and netting Dom Tyson and pick 9 in the process. If Freeman is snapped up at pick 6 it won't be the end of the world. Crouch, Bontempelli, Sheed, Lennon and Salem all have major upside. In saying that if it comes down to it who would we prefer most out of that remainder? Would it be Sheed?
-
Imagine having superman in our forward line... the possibilities...
-
I see it as a win-win. Pick 9 (essentially pick 8 due to mcdonald going as F/S to the kangas) will no doubt land us a quality mid which we will use on a build ready to go player like Dom Sheed or Freeman. However if we decide to use it on Adams and he and GWS agrees to a trade I still would be delighted in seeing him play for us.
-
It wouldn't hurt us to draft him as a rookie..Our lack of depth in the back line hurts us when we sustain injuries. Bringing him in and training him as a big bodied defender would be potentially ideal if it pays off
-
People need to remember that our pick 9 is technically 8 with Kangaroos taking Mcdonald in father son.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON

Wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Which is why I am so happy with the ability to land Tyson along with pick 9 which will also see us snag another midfield player. Tyson looks amazing in close, has the ability to give off the perfect handball, strong overhead mark and exceptional in traffic and a tall big bodied mid. Exactly what we need going forward. To some extent I beleieve the injuries he has sustained and the lack of games he has contributed in has played in our favor. This has really limited his development and ability to make an established name for himself, which allowed for us to get him and pick 9 for 2 and 20. -
Will be great for our clearance work and that added depth to our midfield. Estactic we got him for the pick we did.
-
It's amazing what a proper administration team can do. Set actual realistic objectives and identify the major hole within our team that needs improvement.
-
Exactly why Roos wrote that article about clubs trading their stars early... Imagine if Hawthorn had of traded Franklin a few years ago... the return they would have recieved in comparison to what they have now.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BERNIE VINCE

His on field leadership, work rate and commitment will prove highly beneficial especially on the younger players. This is exactly the type of player we need going forward in guiding our younger talent. I've always thought of the sporting industry and sporting clubs much like a work place - if you get a new job where the people who have been there the longest muck around, not take their job seriously and for granted it rubs off on you and you end up becoming lazy and wrapped up in an emotionally detrimental environment. However if you get a job in a place where its firm but fair, everyone puts in, there are stand out leaders, direction and commitment you are more likely to put in a harder work ethic yourself with the people you are surrounded by. This is exactly what the MFC was not. With the party guys of the like of Slyvia out the door being replaced with on field leaders like Dawes, Vince and potentially Cross - you watch how our culture, work rate and professionalism will change for the better. -
I wish Wallace would input about what clubs WOULDN'T do in regards to drafting, not what they SHOULD do. Terry Wallace "Im thinking club-A should trade X player to X club and pick up Y draft pick in return which I would pick on player Z in this year draft.. I would do this, therefore clubs should ASTRAY from doing this also"

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DOM TYSON

Stoked for this deal, however his name gets on my nerves... Dom Tyson? Should be Tom Dyson -
Mate of mine at the gym said he heard on the radio a three way deal which included Melbourne's pick 2 to Port Adelaide in exchange for Hamish Hartlett and pick 13? Said he heard it on the radio on one of the news stations reporting it. Not sure if he misheard or not but can't find any information regarding this, did anyone happen to catch or hear about this?

Personally I think it will come down to Trading pick 2 to GWS for Dylan Shiel. And if that doesn't go through then holding onto the pick and going after a free agent throwing them a cash offer they can't refuse. No use in trading pick 2 for a player this year, when we could potentially snag a player that would be as beneficial next year within the free agency period. For me it's Keeping pick 2 (Aish or Freeman) or trading it for Shiel Trading in Vince, Lyons, Michie, Cross (FA)
-
Not a rumor just an idea: Pick #2 for Polec + Longer Trade Jamar + Sylvia compensation pick to Adelaide for Vince and Lyons. Would this be a trade worth considering or are we paying unders+overs?
