  1. I wonder how far off Kynan Brown would be, with the idea to play him as a very defensively minded forward. A speedy terrier running around, harrassing the hell out of the opposition, might be just the sort of spark we need. He might even be there to do the job for three-quarters, with the hope that we wouldn't have other injuries and could sub him out. I dunno. Just a thought.
  2. Being a good side helps, we get the best time slots to attract big crowds. With how we're travelling at the moment we could see 20k at the Saturday night game against North Melbourne.
  3. Petty formed a crucial part of a premiership winning defence, then looked brilliant playing forward before hurting his foot in 2023. Plenty of players before him have made the same move from defender to forward and had strong careers. Anyone saying that we were "crazy" to let Petty go is trying to re-write history. We weren't crazy to let him go, in fact it would've been crazy to just let him go easily, given what he had proved as a defender and what he was showing as a forward.
  4. I cannot get over that unpaid HTB Absolutely criminal
  5. Cool so instead of it being HTB and is going 19-0 up it's now 13-12. This is why people get so bloody annoyed about umpiring. Should've been rewarded to give us tons of momentum and now we have none.
  6. Club prioritises winning at AFL over VFL. Imagine a few players get food poisoning whiel in Alice Springs or are carrying illness that doesn't show up until the trip. Disaster. Goody and the players always speak about how good travel is for team connection too.
  7. Good summary. Unfortuantely we need to accept that this problem won't go away. If we win the flag this year, it'll come from having the #1 defence, from midfielders kicking goals, and from goalkicking accuracy in the finals. It was Fritsch, Pickett and Petracca who hit the scoreboard in the 2021 finals, with the cameo from Gawn that we can never expect to happen again.
  8. Luker Kentfield from the WAFL. 19yo, 196cm / 93kg tall forward.
  9. He copped a suspended ban for the incident early in the year so you would think they activate that now.
  10. We had May, Lever, McDonald and Howes before. Replace Howes with Tomo?
  11. It's accuracy too. 51.55 in first halves, 79.70 in second halves.
  12. We won't win the flag by sending players forward who don't belong there. We'll win by our forwards and the mids doing their jobs. Billy Frampton's performance as a forward could've cost Collingwood them last year. I don't see why Tomo can't stay in the team when Lever returns.
  13. Harsh on Chandler. Thought he had some really good pressure acts on the wing. Needs to kick more goals but I thought he was good yesterday.
  14. Fritsch has been critcised for selfishness in the past, but with the way our forwards are playing and how Fritsch is kicking lately, I hope he remains selfish. His snaps are really special. Pickett is in a similar boat.
  15. Billings has to be on the 'never again' pile. 162 games, two clubs. He has talent but is neither consistent nor physical enough to be an AFL contributor. Agree RE: Windsor. The problem is, when was the last time an MFC player was managed? It's time for Windsor IMO. Taj has to get a run. Leave Windsor behind for the trip to the NT.
  16. That was the worst i've seen an opposition play against us this year. St Kilda were atrocious. Their effort was terrible and their ball use even worse. Positively, that gave us a great win for our confidence. I'm really pleased that Tomlinson, Salem, Van Rooyen and Hunter had good games. Three of them are senior players who we will need come finals. Still issues from the forward line though. Petty - WTF? 4 touches and 1 mark from 67 inside 50s. McAdam applied good pressure (6 tackles) but would've liked more of a scoreboard impact.
  17. When the weather is awful in the UK? It was one game, Langdon wouldn't have made a difference to whether we won or lost. Ed has played 17, 24, 23, 25 games since coming to the Dees. He is possibly the most no-fuss player on the list. Turns up almost every week, runs his butt off, then you never hear about him off-field. Yes he is paid well to play AFL footy but it was one game. His sister shouldn't have to work her life around him.
  18. 2021 feels more and more like a lucky flag in an asterisk* year. We couldn't win a final in 22 or 23 and this team is far worse. Will be years before we contend again.
  19. At this rate we'll lose enough percentage to drop out of the 8
  20. In 2021 we had Jones, Hunt, Melksham, Tomlinson all miss out on the GF, unlucky or injured. This year we can barely field a first 22 with a very healthy list.
  21. Our lack of depth will kill us this year. There's no-one who can replace Billings but he simply doesn't deserve a game. Spargo is my only hope.
  22. Game is being played as a really fast pace. Feels very deliberate from West Coast.
  23. North robbed of a second early goal, ridiculous umpiring. LDU would look great in the red and blue...
  24. If Webster got 7 then this can't be any less. Worse in my opinion.
  25. Doesn't tell the full story. The chart above suggets St Kilda have a cruisy run, but it's wrong. St Kilda played at 7 different venues in the first 9 rounds. This includes trips Geelong, Launceston, Canberra and two different venues in Adelaide. Those a short trips so they don't show up as KMs travel, but they've had no continuity. After Round 14 they will have played at 9 venues. They end the season with something like 8 of 9 games being at Marvel, but by that time their season will be done. On the other hand we just played 4 straight at the MCG. Our trip to Adelaide sucked for a range of reasons, but at least it was at Adelaide Oval both times.
