  1. No trac to take votes away and Clarry back to his best? 2026 brownlow incoming! What a story that would be.
  2. Ok Steven, you've had your fun. Now get to work.
  3. Thank you for that beautiful response. Having to buy a ticket to get into his first seniors game is hilarious!
  4. I love hearing about those days. The 24/7 nature of footy news and media, especially at the moment when there is a lull in between finals and the off season sometimes makes people forget that there was a simpler time. When footy players still had jobs and interacted with the community and weren't on a pedestal above it. I listen to the podcast regularly and often hear @binman mention Robbie. I've even heard opposition fans say that he was the best we've ever had. I thought it was about time I tried to find out about the man. I can see from the replies just how much he means to a lot of people. Just as many have mentioned what a nice guy he was as they have how good at footy he was. Speaks volumes of his character as well as footy calibre.
  5. By the looks of his highlights, he was too agile and quick for them!
  6. Did he have this store whilst playing or was this after?
  7. Sounds a champion in every sense of the word. Thanks everyone. I wish I could have seen him play.
  8. Just a quick distraction from all the speculation going on currently, I would like to ask the Demonland community a question that I have often wondered about but never asked. How good was Robbie Flower? I was born in 86, and didn't really take footy seriously until a teenager so missed him by a decade or 2. I have heard stories of how good he was but would love to hear from anyone who actually saw him play, what was he like? Is their anyone in the modern era you would compare him to?
  9. Good communicator. Interesting that Selwyn is here to stay at this stage. Very encouraging chat about the game plan. Like someone said earlier though, fast ball movement to get the ball on the forward line whilst it isn't so crowded is all well and good but it all depends on who takes that last kick into the 50. If it's Trac or Clarry then the chances of it being to the forwards advantage are less than stellar and leaves the forward with a battle to get the ball. JVR and Co will need to hit the gym with ferocity if they are going to be left to battle one on one against key defenders. Time will tell though and I'm feeling good about MFC for the first time in a while.....feels weird.
  10. Be careful what you wish for.
  11. I definitely had trouble with Demonland for a few hours post St Kilda. Wasn't sure if it was thousands like me, logging in to vent or whether Andy had pulled the pin on the website in disgust. Either is understandable.
  12. What would the panel think is a fair pass mark for the last 3 games? Dogs, Hawks and Pies. I just want to compete. 4 quarters of effort if not skill. If we could pull an upset over one of them then I'll be over the moon but I think realistically, with all 3 of them fighting for finals/top 4 spots then we will well and truly be up against it. No capitulations, no slow starts or turning into training cones to finish the game. I hope they do it for the fans and to give us some hope that the future is ok.
  13. I think every single supporter on Demonland feels exactly the same way. On the off chance that the podcast does end up going on, could someone please explain to me what the **** just happened? I'm more meaning tactically but in a general sense as well. Did Ross Lyon just put on a masterclass and Goody failed to adjust? Did the players just give up? Are we just completely and utterly [censored]? 3 quarters of great football and then a team who is well known for being able to turn it on occasionally is allowed to just waltz through the corridor at will. The club has just absolutely [censored] the bed. No CEO, President is absent and we roll out a performance like that. I've pretty firmly been in favour of Goody being allowed to see out this mini rebuild but after today I don't see how he can. Memberships tally will take a massive hit and we have all gone back to the days of being absolutely embarrassed to be a Dee's fan. Darkest day since Kardinia park. Bless you if you have the strength to turn the microphones on this week, if not, I completely understand.
  14. First time actually seeing him in action tonight. To quote the worst commentator getting around, "Wowee!" Obviously needs some work as any 17yo does but he is a rare beast in the AFL world. Almost Luke Jackson like in the last quarter in the way he moves. Same blend of height and athleticism. I'm excited.
  15. 1 point against what is (it hurts to say) the best team in the comp this year. We can argue about stuff ups in the last quarter, last minutes or mistakes all throughout the game but how about we talk about the good things we did? Steven May? Max Gawn, Trac? The young boys? Kolt and Lindsay holding the ball tackles were fantastic. Langdon on Daicos (the fairy) was fantastic for large portions. So many big efforts today, we lost by the absolute slimmest of margins. This may not be our year but I am so confident that we can upset a few teams along the way. David King mentioned a few weeks ago that he thinks we will be a force in 26, 27. I am loathe to agree with anything that man says but I feel we are building towards that. We all hate losing to the pies. I am 100% confident that as well as they may do over he next year or 2, the next few after that will be rough for them.
  16. Incredibly frustrating still be saying "bad kicking is bad football" halfway through 2025 season. May as well be our motto at this point along with being the expected score kings. Obviously been discussed ad nauseum but so many of those set shots were gettable by my sons year 10 footy team. Obviously they haven't just run 10 + km so fatigue is definitely a factor in some of the Dee's kicks but that was atrocious. The hooks that some of them were kicking from directly in front speak of a flawed technique, which given that these problems have existed for years, you would think we would have sorted out. Chocco is simply taking the [censored] at this point.
  17. I really rate this design. Looks really good. It says in the little Melbourne news article about it that the writing underneath the Chevron means "all hearts beat true for the red and the blue". Love it.
  18. Both teams coming off short breaks and both teams confident after good wins. Should be a good game regardless. Don't let the talk of the inexperience of these tigers fool you, they are capable of playing good football. It may be closer than we would like and I fully expect the skill levels of both to drop off in the 2nd half with fatigue. All that being said I would be disappointed if we don't win by at least 3 goals.
  19. I'm sure this will get asked repeatedly over the next week. Do we keep tinkering with the forward line or leave it for a week? Only saw patches of the VFL and it seemed more of the same from Roo and Fritsch, definitely didn't light the world on fire but in saying that GWS were also very good. Seperate issue but how do you feel about Culley? Wins the ball and is very hard at it but seemed like another butcher in his disposal and I feel we already have a few of them. Do you think he will break into the side?
  20. Thankyou Port for taking the spotlight off of MFC woes for a bit by showing up the Hollywood Hawks. Ken has always been a master at pumping up the troops for an occasion. Port looking amazing tonight. Talk will be of how the poor hawks are coming off a bye and have some injuries.
  21. Curried egg please. I apologize in advance for the smell
  22. Great to see Billings slot one. Also great to see the boys show a bit of aggression after that late bump.
  23. Whilst this week is by no means a write off, I'm really excited about next week. If we can get through today without any injuries then next week we could have a fit and firing Kozzie, Melksham with a game under his belt, Lever and May back together. All signs point towards a better showing
  24. It was a joke my friend.
  25. I was going to leave this one and just listen in but after what I've just seen I felt the need to post. Just saw a video of some demons supporters hurling abuse at the Dees as they walked off the ground. WTF Dee's supporters? We are better than that surely? I know we saw a bit of that in the dark years but I honestly thought we were past that. I'm Sure no one one this good forum could possibly be so dense as to participate in this behaviour. I understand frustration at losses. Believe me, I didn't love that game either but to hurl abuse at the players who looked completely heartbroken at what had just occurred left me feeling sick. Obviously things need to be fixed, possibly things going on to affect their performance also? There is more to life than footy. Get a grip!
