In line with the advice on hair and some herbs and flowers such as daisies, you need to cut them to promote further growth. Seems you're on top of that though?

Out: JVR, Rivers, Woey Don't need these kids getting any ideas about sunnier climates.

This hot-take is a little bit for @binman. I worked out why BT stands out as a particularly loathsome commentator among a hotly contested field, beside the obvious. He doesn't use qualifiers. Everyone gave BruceMac grief for framing every statement with 'you feel like' or 'don't you think' - but BT just says dumb [censored] as if it is fact, and doesn't seem to have a good handle on nuance.

For those unaware, cats are actually highly emotionally tuned. If you're feeling down, they will often come and give you some cuddles. I don't have a cat, so have to pop some bubble wrap instead.

Can we make this a weekly thread? With the "not why we lost" or I'm not a conspiracy theorist" but . . . proviso.

i don't have access to a replay. The Trac htb in the dying stages? Seemed a bit stiff as to prior, and how the rest of the game was adjudicated.

By my calculations, Carlton hasn't had a clean win against us since 2016.

At one stage in the tense final quarter, Chandler tackled Cincotta over the boundary line. I've been stuck ever since trying to work out a worthy 'double-chin' pun. What was the end score?

Melbourne copped an owies. The equivalent in Portuguese is doi doi. I know this, as I currently live with a Portuguese kid with a fondness for scissors. But if he got caught in a perfect tackle and hit his head: holding the ball little mate.

What percentage of teams win when the opposition kicks 100-plus?

Like many others suggested at the time, that qf was the grand final match and we came up short (for various reasons). I basically checked out after that, and watched the Carlton match on semi-delay-fast-forward.

Produced Fugazi among others.

Harry Mack has his lowest disposal average against us, and the other one has kicked a grand total of seven goals in six matches against us. They are not the shoot-out issues.

Don't see why not?

How do you say you're above the age of 40 without saying you're above the age of 40 . . .

incidentally, I had a (Sri Lankan) curry and a beer at a new local restaurant last night.

Will you pay my fare on the Jolimont line at least, for some inspiration?

What happened in those other mysterious eight matches engorged?

Title for the next novel?

In all seriousness, they should probably migrate their red to purple like the L.A. Lakers and just embrace a Gold Coast stereotype. Powder white on ceramic white probably doesn't stand out quite enough, but two 'suns' in a bikini would be pretty fun as a new logo. The locals will be lining up ahahaahaha.

SWYL: Thanks Bintang. Last week against (those despicable [censored] [censored]) you gave me confidence we could win.

LinkedIn just sent me a reminder that today is the Carlton president's ten-year anniversary at the club. https://www.consultancy.com.au/news/8767/luke-sayers-faces-heat-over-pwc-whistleblower-complaint

In the 2000s, we played Carlton ten times between our epic win in the 2000 qualifying final and properly bottoming out in 2008 We went 7-3 over them during that period (including our ‘loss’ in the Kreuzer Cup’). Until last year, they would have a lot more gripes about us annoying them in recent years than the reverse.

Flashback to 2018 - which doesn't look all that dissimilar to 1998 based on our results. The year of 'Is Goodwin the Right Guy?' (and an AFLX trophy). The 6-6-6 rule was brought in the following year. For those that think Simon is stuck in the mud: No team has scored as many points in a season as us since then. We only scored less than 90 points in five games of the regular season. 14 matches we scored above 100. (We already had Lever, on the sidelines, but then went and fetched May). 2021: We don't manage more than 90 points in 14 regular season matches. Score above 100 five times. Win flag. The point of the story: the 100-plus point drubbing we gave to Carlton in 2018 was a thing of glory. Our 8th biggest winning margin in MFC history, and the biggest since 2004 . . . against Carlton.

The question I have, in this day and age of heightened metrics and training methodologies, is the Captain's run just a tradition or does it serve a purpose?
