It’s like he’s on the back cover of the Violent Femmes third album – the one with the band members at the hairdressers with their arms in huge fish up to the elbow. What doesn’t get me excited?! I mean, FFS, it’s after 1am on a Thursday morning, and I’m reading Demonland. But really, it’s watching for the team to suddenly “get it right”. Or it could be watching the development of the younger players. Maybe Casey. It might take them two, three, four years? But then to suddenly see a breakout game when everybody else is asking “ where did this guy come from?”, Is very satisfying.

Interesting that Brown and Lewis on 360 highlighted a couple of instances that struck me on Saturday. I.e. Viney and Trac not supplying pressure to Menzies. Multiple instances of hand passes ignored when they should be given to allow runners into space. Some of the older players are trying to win it by themselves. They need to just bring the whole team in. This could be seriously quick to fix if they can talk about it.

Went along to that last match to get over Saturday. Truly bizarre. Biff was good though – wonder if it puts butters up past the $50 K Mark?

There is something calming about watching two sides play when you really don’t care who wins. it’s refreshing, but about half a step away from turning it off altogether. I don’t think there is anything particularly special about these teams. I think we are very close to scoring better than them. The opportunities are coming short, but the mids under pressure revert to longer kicks. Happy with Excel coming in this week – he will help a lot.

I would like to think that JVR and Fritta would have been dropped in a normal week - ie. when the VFL were actually playing. I hope they both play as well as they can - and hope they have been told this is their last chance.
