Tom Fullarton
Interesting that we have mentioned Xerri regarding developing rucks. I remember watching him as a young player, and not being very impressed with his positioning, intent or skills. However, after 4-5 years of development with Goldstein and TC, he is a much more accomplished player. He is now 26 of course. And his skills are still a bit 𤮠The other factor to take into account is how it affects the defence of the opposition. Shorter defenders often overreact to tall players in space. This helps to provide leading lanes. Itās also good for a bigger players to learn to legally block in marking contests ā something that we havenāt been doing recently, but JVR benefited from this week.

He competed ok in the ruck. When Gawn went off, too many other players decided they also needed a rest. Cream did move around and lead, which made space for the other forwards. Should have been used more but our kicking game is still a bit of a mess. AJ competes hard but has been mauled in the last two games by Madden/Keefe (both 204cm) and Colina/Hayes (208/211cm ā Close to 7 foot). Unfortunately, probably the best thing for Verrallās development was TC straining a hammy. Verrall has dominated in the last few games, especially when TC went down, getting quite a few hitouts to advantage. Forward craft looks okay. Needs to get more marks around the ground.

Number 26 for the yellow team is a joke. He just gave a free kick to angry Agassi for blocking Fullerton. No idea.

Voice to text sometimes gives you exactly what you didnāt know you needed.

Sometimes they are trying, but itās mostly the older players that donāt want to play fast and direct to an open player. You can see them looking, before they just vomit to the goal square.

Think it might be four, but I could be wrong.

I wish I didnāt have to say this, but these umpires are having far too much of a say in the play. Apart from calling throws when they are not and vice versa, this 15m bull ā [censored] needs to be forgotten about. They have more than enough to concentrate on if they can possibly get some blocks and marks paid correctly.

Didnāt Mansell just have the [censored] ball? So thatās holding the [censored] ball then.

CASEY: Rd 05 vs Richmond
Watched the replay this arvo. There werenāt too many missing for the Tigers. We had more players wanting to apply pressure than they did. When we won the ball, apart from a few times, we shared it with our teammates. It was a bit like the AFL side last week. It was far from perfect, but the more they shared it the more potent it looked. It would be nice to see a repeat effort tonight.

So Freo, I know what youāre thinking. Have the Dees lost five games or will it be six? So, do you feel lucky punks? (they obviously werenāt counting on the lucky socksš)

[censored]. I donāt want to sound heartless or anything. And hopefully it is not an ACL or any other long-term injury, but heās only 21 or so, and should be back for the start of next year at worst. Heās lucky itās not pre-1980. Lucky also heās not a horseš³

To be fair, the Hawks have an advantage with their colours š³ Are you really saying that you didnāt like the traditional power lightning bolt? Or traditional Green purple and white Freo/Balkans flag?

CASEY: Rd 04 vs UWS Giants
Missed the last quarter yesterday and just now watched the full replay. As I already said Roo probably needed to follow one of their key forwards around after halftime. Most of the problem is the same as our AFL side had up until yesterday ā they are not giving the handball to players running past. Trying to do it all themselves is inviting pressure, which makes it harder to get it out to players who are now stationary. Thought Verrall broke even in the ruck against one of the bigger bodies in the AFL. Madden did not get many taps to advantage ā probably less than Verrall who also missed out on several frees ā blatant pushes in the back etc. ā as the umpires have no idea on ruck contests.

Key forward is not an easy place to play. After the first half, when he didnāt look like getting near the ball, I wouldāve put him on Guruzewski. Just to play back shoulder and have him lead you to the ball a couple of times. Sometimes thatās all it takes.

NON-MFC: Round 06
Itās pretty close. But I think Hawthorn still has that covered ā their ridiculous Power Rangers top, and maybe even the Harlequin one as runner-up.

NON-MFC: Round 06
Seems to be the way things are going. Just need to be linked to other sides/go Home factor, be in the middle of contract negotiations, and then have one or two ābreakoutā games.
