  1. Nah. Have a look at his last goal when he was running to the right fwd pocket. He had 3-4 players inside that he could’ve handballed to. Once they realised it was him, and he had no intention of sharing the ball, they all stopped. All okay if he kicks them from the boundary, over his shoulder all the time – but not exactly the percentage play. I think this has also become a problem in the A’s.
  2. You can do that if you don’t give handballs when they are there
  3. DS54 just thought he was CP5 for a second…. Same action, same result
  4. Someone else looks like him 😳
  5. And a little night-Mary? Sorry, I’m a little late again.
  6. So Sam Taylor was reckless? Or intentional?
  7. Carlton’s gotta sell CURNOW and Mackay, and see what they can get for them. They are in more need of a rebuild than West Coast.
  8. Great. Unless he turns up looking like Thor - in the last movie (was that love and thunder)
  9. Should be Hardie, Ferraro…
  10. And TC is back in the ruck. And Verrall is back on the pine. No wonder he’s only getting 40min per game. Hopefully TC will still be okay at the end of the game.
  11. AJ is looking up and about, and can get the ball. Unfortunately, his disposal is [censored] and I’m not a big fan. So far he’s kicked to the opposition inside 50, and hand balled over a team mates head when it should’ve been a walk in goal
  12. I’ve wondered about that move for awhile because he is so mobile and takes a big Mark. He looks good there
  13. Anyone who was there – was that a push in the back? It really didn’t look like it.
  14. Looks to me like there’s a fair few players from that draft that will be pretty good – not just the top four. I could name Michalanney, Weddel, Humphrey, and Fletcher off the top of my head. Then of course there’s The poo 💩 Seriously though, I was wondering a bit as well. Mainly because this group was more affected by Covid than any other. No under 16’s, no underage year. Even in 2022 I think the state squads were a bit all over the place. So I think many of them will have a slower start to their careers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the games played is not significantly different by the end.
  15. Let’s hope that sometime in the next three weeks they can disinfect the regular seats.
  16. Yes, it was a direct response to PCL injuries to Goodes and others, which I think was largely misguided. If you want to now jump at the ball, it will be at the same time and opposite direction as the opposition – you each get about three steps, which surely must cause more problems. When you could decide for yourself whether you wanted to go back 5 m – 20 m and jump early or late, there was less chance of a direct clash. The random nature of the bounce also stopped direct clashes, but it’s unrealistic to expect umpires to be able to bounce the ball that high anymore – especially without the plate in the middle, which was removed following Rehn‘s injury in 1996. It didn’t stop Goodes getting another PCL injury in the 2012 GF, so was it just something about the way he jumped? I would like to see the Ruckmen required to start outside the 10m circle, with their foot touching the line. Ideally, the circle should become 15m. This would only work if the blocking infringement was re-introduced. This is a key part of our game in all contests. Players need to be able to make the ball their priority. If players are not going for the ball, what are they doing?
  17. Lots of blocking doesn’t get paid, but I think they are trying to cut it back as much as possible – bear in mind that there are very 1:1 contests in the modern game, or anyway a hell of a lot less than the 1980s when the blocks were much easier to see. I don’t think that the changes to the interpretation of the push in the back rule have been successful. It’s very much like 1995 again. You should be able to use your arms to create space, but not send players flying across the ground. This rule was generally well applied up to 2006, when it got out of control again, and the 2007 “not allowed to touch the player in front of you” rule was introduced. I can’t believe we had to put up with that [censored] for 12 years. Basically, the umpire needs to forget about the push in the back rule unless it’s obviously interfering with the player in the front/dominant position. This is for marking contests and ruck contests. The only other time is during a tackle, which is completely different as the players are generally on the ground. They also need to forget about paying a free kick for chasing and touching a player as they are about to kick the ball. Should only be a free kick down field if the player has been truly mugged – not just if he falls over.
  18. Before that year, it was open season on punches to the back of the arms/hands, and general sideswipes taking out the head as well. This was also the year that they introduced the 10 m circle for the CB contest – presumably to stop the Ruckmen from running and jumping for the tap - one of the ancient highlights of the game, and introduce the CB wrestle, which everybody loves today.
  19. I can’t believe people are complaining about his fitness. Or his speed. I seem to remember that he finished quite well at the combine – so I found the 2023 results. Here they are. Bear in mind that this was from 2 years ago, so he has probably improved even with interrupted training. He would be right at the top end of our 2KM trial, probably just behind Sharp. Pretty sure none of the commentators on here can run a 6.17? 2km time trialTarkyn O’Leary (Sandringham Dragons/Parkdale Vultures) - 5 minutes, 48 seconds Darcy Wilson (Murray Bushrangers/Wangaratta Rovers) - 5:52 Ethan Read (Gold Coast Suns Academy/Palm Beach Currumbin) - 5:56 Jordan Croft (Calder Cannons/Maribyrnong Park) - 6:05 Caiden Cleary (Sydney Swans Academy/Sydney University) - 6:06 Aiden O’Driscoll (Perth/Northam Saints) - 6:06 Archie Roberts (Sandringham Dragons/Hampton Rovers) - 6:08 Connor O’Sullivan (Murray Bushrangers/Albury) - 6:11 Joel Freijah (GWV Rebels/Horsham Saints) - 6:13 Harvey Johnston (Sandringham Dragons/Parkdale Vultures) - 6:17 Koltyn Tholstrup (Subiaco/Newtown Condingup) - 6:17 AgilityLance Collard (Subiaco/North Beach) - 8.157 seconds Koltyn Tholstrup (Subiaco/Newtown Condingup) - 8.194 Angus Hastie (Geelong Falcons/Geelong West Giants) - 8.204 Bodie Ryan (Glenelg/Brighton) - 8.208 Zane Zakostelsky (Claremont/North Beach) - 8.233 Ashton Moir (Glenelg/Plympton) - 8.244 Reece Torrent (Peel Thunder/Halls Head) - 8.260 Darcy Wilson (Murray Bushrangers/Wangaratta Rovers) - 8.263 Aiden O’Driscoll (Perth/Northam Saints) - 8.302 Nate Caddy (Northern Knights/Yarrambat) - 8.331
  20. Kolt, Brown, and Windsor are all having the same problem – they are too worried about what they are going to do with the ball before they get it. They are taking their eyes off the ball before they have controlled it completely. That leads to fumbling and inviting added pressure which makes things more difficult. Get them into some meditation and Zen thoughts to be in the moment. Omm
  21. So, Chess rather than Checkers?
  22. Thank Christ they’re not umpiring.
  23. No idea what Verrall did to get that free. A bit the same as The free to Conway 2 CB ago.
  24. Interesting there – not differentiating between a tunnel, and the forward player just running under the ball??
  25. Great! Now they know about deliberate out of bounds. But they’ve forgotten about front on contact. Limited RAM, I guess?
