  1. Field Medallist, I hear, Picket 😄
  2. But does he - or is Mary the only one who really knows whose son he is ?
  3. David Neitz was every bit as good a backman as he was a forward & I will always have a soft spot for Sean Wight. Could easily throw Steven Smith in there, too, though Neitz would be the only one of those who could even be mentioned in the "greatest Demon of all time" debate.
  4. You would think so, wouldn't you ? And for the most part that is true - except for 1 moron last Thursday night. I was sitting on level 2 in the MCC members right next to the fence to the outer. About 4 seats in on the other side of the fence was a bogan blue bagger, and all I heard all night was him screaming "you wouldn't know what a hard ball get was, Gawn", "you've never had had a hard ball in your life, Gawn", etc, etc. 6 AA's would suggest that he has probably had at least 1 hard ball get in his career - unlike the numpty with the mouth. I'm embarrassed to admit it, but just before half time it all got too much for me and I called out "1995, [censored]", and was immediately tapped on the shoulder by a couple of Carltank supporters behind me and told to reign in my language. Damn, for a club that STILL hasn't done anything for bloody near 30 years, they are arrogant so & so's. And people wonder why I hate virtually every club other than the mighty Dees.
  5. I see what you did there 🤣
  6. Yep, that's the same guy.
  7. Thanks for sharing, Radar. I do love the respect that was afforded Bluey in naming the airfield after him when it was built in '44 - the year after he died. I love equally as much that, even though the name Mungalalu (traditional name for the area) has been added, Bluey's name has been retained so that it's officially Mungalalu Truscott Airbase. Having said that, most people still refer to it simply as "Truscott".
  8. I was dragged into an antiques / brick-a-brac store in country Victoria (Maryborough) by my partner today. I wouldn't say that I was kicking and screaming, but I think it's fair to say that she was more keen than my good self. Anyway, whilst browsing I discovered this book - which I was not only not aware of, but it appears to be a first edition (1958). Needless to say, I wasted no time purchasing it, and can't wait to settle in for a good read. What it did do, though, is got me wondering if any fellow Demonlanders have made any unexpected discoveries of little gems whilst on their travels. I'd be interested to know of the treasure trove that we have out there.
  9. I'm not sure how much we can actually take from it , but I certainly loved hearing it. It tells me that JVR certainly has the right attitude, and that can only be beneficial in respect to any influence any teammates MAY have on his eventual decision.
  10. WOW - I can't believe that I hadn't seen that before. Thanks for posting that: it got me welling up all over again. Damn, I love this club !!!!
  11. Chuck Norris checks under his bed before going to sleep - just to make sure Jack Viney's not there.
  12. Penicillin ?
  13. Jack Billings Beat me to it, WCW 😄
  14. Sorry Tarax, my error. Although, having said that, I am surprised that it's "Big Bob" (Robert Junior) as I would have thought that '50 - '52 was a tad too early for him too. Ah well, we live & learn 🙂
  15. That would be Robert "Tassie" Johnson
