Last night, in a post-match interview, Max “my hero” Gawn, openly talked about the “yips” he feels when lining-up, close to goal. I went back and compared his technique when he’s kicking from the arc to when he is kicking in-close. When he’s closer in, he slows everything down. His run-up becomes tentative and he even seems to swing his leg through slower. I might be way off here, I know nothing about the mechanics of AFL kicking, but when you swing a racquet, or throw a netball, slowing down your natural motion leads to inconsistency and loss of accuracy. Have any of you noticed this with Max’s kicking?

Sitting behind the goals, it was interesting to see, whenever we kicked a point, the Lions full backs rushing to get the spare ball and kicking it in before our players were set. They then seemed to be able to slice and dice us, with their razor sharp kicking out of defense. They were so well disciplined.

We should never underestimate Lever’s effect on this team.

JVR gains possession of the ball - it looked to me like he is about to have a shot - but instead decides to handball a little in front. Do you think that was tactical. Would they be instructed not to go for goal in case it’s a point and the Lions gain possession? In answer to Binman- best home and away win I’ve ever seen live. Loved the noise we all made ❤️💙❤️

Hi all, I’ve had a question gnawing at me. (Please go easy- first time poster and not sure where else I could get an answer). After the Collingwood match I heard a few say that Fritch going to Moore was a good tactical move. This I found confusing because I assumed that the defenders would dictate who they match up with. Can anybody enlighten me?
